SERVICE YEAR. 235 A. Employees of the bargaining unit agree to a service year of 195 days. Teachers with 236 previous teaching experience who are new to Des Moines agree to a service year of 197 237 days. New employees who are not part of the alternative teacher contract agree to a service 238 year of 199 days. New employees who are part of the Alternative Teacher Contract agree to 239 a service year as set forth in Appendix 3.

Teachers with previous teaching experience who are new to Des Moines agree to a service year of 197 days. The paid vacation period will be based upon employment in that fiscal year and will be prorated for those SUCCESS employees who work less than the full E. Building Secretary IIIs in middle and elementary school buildings are to work four (4) weeks beyond the student school calendar and shall match the schedule of the building principal. Within the first three weeks period prior to the start of school, or the week following the end of school, the Superintendent/designee may temporarily reassign any of these secretaries to other positions within their classification series as necessary to meet the needs of the District at no loss in pay to the employee. This temporary reassignment shall not exceed twenty (20) working days. 4. The Superintendent or designee may reassign Middle School secretaries and the High School Activities secretary to other positions within their classification series at no loss in pay when their immediate supervisors are not scheduled to be on the job.
SERVICE YEAR. If the Employer should deem it necessary to change the "service year" of a given job, the employee(s) affected shall be given every consideration for a position vacancy with the same "service year" as the job in question.
SERVICE YEAR. “Service year” is defined as the period of time between an employee's date of hire and the one-year anniversary date of the employee's date of hire or the period of time between any two (2) consecutive anniversaries of the employee's date of hire thereafter.
