Sick Leave Reporting. In order to schedule relief, a Deck Officer shall make every attempt to notify dispatch at least four (4) hours prior to his or her scheduled time to report to work. Deck Officer’s shall notify dispatch on the first day of sick leave and each day after, unless there is mutual agreement to do otherwise.
Sick Leave Reporting. Employees authorized to be absent from the job due to illness or injury shall report the absence on a straight-time basis. Absence for a full shift of a line assigned employee would constitute using twenty-four (24) hours of sick leave.
Sick Leave Reporting. It is the responsibility of every employee absent from work because of illness or injury to report such absences to his/her immediate supervisor or the supervisor’s designated representative. This report must include information as to the expected date of return to work and where the employee can be reached during his/her normal work hours. The employee will promptly notify his/her supervisor or supervisor’s designee of any change which affects his/her ability to return to work.
Sick Leave Reporting. Bargaining unit employees must enter sick leave in the district’s Absence Reporting System and must notify their supervisor of their absence with as much notice as possible, but no later than prior to the start of the school day.

If an employee is in a position where a relief replacement is necessary and are unable to report due to illness, he or she will notify the supervisor at least two (2) hours prior to the scheduled time to report to work, except in cases of unforeseeable emergencies. The College may require a written medical certificate for any sick leave absence explaining the nature of the illness or absence in circumstances where the College suspects an abuse of sick leave.
Sick Leave Reporting a. Employees shall report to their immediate supervisor or designee their need to use sick leave prior to the start of their shift each day of their absence unless otherwise arranged. If the leave is foreseeable, employees shall give 10 days’ notice, or as early as practicable.
b. Use of sick leave by non-FLSA exempt employees longer than 3 consecutive work shifts may require verification within 10 calendar days following the first day of leave, with the exception of leave for domestic violence. For FLSA exempt employees, use of sick leave may require a certificate from the employee’s health care provider, if requested by the Employing Official.
c. Employees may not use or substitute sick leave when an injury or illness occurs while on previously approved leave or compensatory time. Employees may request a change of pre-approved time off prior to the beginning of that leave period if circumstances change. Any discrimination or retaliation against an employee for lawful exercise of paid sick leave rights is not allowed. Non-exempt Employees will not be disciplined for the lawful use of paid sick leave. If an employee feels they are being discriminated or retaliated against, the employee may contact the Human Resources Department.

b. Nothing shall prohibit the County from requiring an employee to be examined by a health care provider of the County's choice. Upon prior approval of the Employing Official, the County shall bear the cost of any charges above those covered by any insurance carrier for an examination required by the County. The employee shall immediately sign over to the County any reimbursement received from an insurance carrier for the required examination.
c. Sick leave must be supported by a certificate from the employee’s health care provider, if requested by the Employing Official.
