Special Duty Assignment. When an employee in a regular position is temporarily assigned to a classification, and the duties comprise the majority of the work performed for a minimum of 30 calendar days.

Special Duty Assignment. When it is mutually advantageous to an individual and an academic unit, college, or library system, a Bargaining Unit member may be released from regular duties and assigned special duties in connection with specific research, scholarly, or unit/college/library projects. Bargaining Unit members, academic unit heads, or Deans may initiate a request for Special Duty Assignment; however, in any case, all parties must agree that the proposed Assignment is mutually advantageous.
Special Duty Assignment. Assignments of teachers during the workday to lunch duty, yard or playground duty, hall duty, bus duty and other non-teaching functions shall be made on a fair and equitable basis. Itinerant teachers shall be assigned duties at their home school only. When a teacher is performing an afterschool duty and a student(s) is/are stranded, the teacher may leave after he/she has escorted the student(s) to the Administrator’s office of that school building.
Special Duty Assignment. When an employee in a regular position is temporarily 4 assigned to a classification with a higher rate of pay, and the higher-level duties comprise the 5 majority of the work performed for a minimum of thirty (30) calendar days.
Special Duty Assignment. When an Employee in a Base 23 Position is temporarily assigned in writing to a classification, and the duties comprise the majority of 24 the work performed for a minimum of 30 calendar days. Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) Employees 25 are not eligible for Special Duty Assignments.
Special Duty Assignment. Professional personnel of the Solon School system may be given a special duty assignment for one or two semesters of released regular duty assignment to serve in a special capacity for the school district. The teacher may be assigned the task of visiting school systems to analyze a new innovation in education, a curriculum development, new materials, or doing action research. The teacher may be asked to take special coursework to provide one with a special expertise in education. Application may be made through the principal and forwarded to the Superintendent of schools for the request to be given consideration and approval by the Board of Education. (see Appendix F)
Special Duty Assignment. A temporary appointment of a regular employee to perform work
Special Duty Assignment. The District may choose to advertise instructional positions with special duty assignments, and these special assignments are not separable from the position under normal circumstances. These duties will be called "special duty assignments."
A. A special duty assignment is one in which the employee is primarily hired to perform because of his/her special expertise. The special duty assignments cannot exceed 60% of the employee's normal assigned load.
B. Special duty assignments must be mutually agreed to by the Guild and District. Basic instructional assignments such as a history instructor are not to be considered special duty assignments.
C. Special duty assignments must be described in detail on any job announcement where a special duty assignment is required.
D. The normal inseparability of these special duties from the job position must be described in the job announcement.
X. A tenured employee holding a job with a special duty assignment may ask the District to remove the special duties from her/his position beginning the following academic year. The employee request may ask for either a temporary or permanent removal of the special duty assignment. It is the District's sole prerogative to either grant or deny the request.
F. The District will issue a written response granting or denying a request to change the special duty assignment within eight calendar weeks of the date the request was submitted to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
G. District failure to respond in a timely fashion, as described in paragraph F above, will result in the employee being granted, by default, one year temporary release from the special duty assignment.
X. Any employee refusing to continue to perform his/her special duty assignment without the approval of the District, shall have her/his contract salary reduced by an amount proportional to the special duty assignment and shall forfeit any stipend associated with the special duty assignment.
I. Special duty assignments may not be added to any current employee's job position.
X. Special duty assignments can only be created in a new contract hiring.
Special Duty Assignment. Departments may transfer employees within the same class or similar classes occupying the same line of promotion for seasonal work demands, special projects, cross training, and job development. The City will generally seek volunteers who have the necessary skills and certifications for the duty assignment. If volunteers are not available, or if more employees are qualified than is needed for the assignment, the City shall make the assignment based on seniority. Issues regarding duty assignment will be brought back to the Labor Management Committee established under Article 9 of this Agreement. Callout will be done on a rotating basis; the employee with most seniority would be offered it first then rotated to the bottom of the volunteer list. If no one volunteers for the assignment, the lowest person on the list would be assigned and then rotated to the top of the volunteer list.
Special Duty Assignment. If the Special Duty position is converted to a Career Service position, and the 9 Employee who served in the Special Duty Assignment is hired into the Career Service position, the 10 Employee shall receive credit towards their probationary period for time served in the Special Duty 11 Assignment. If the time served in the Special Duty position was longer than the required 12 probationary period for that position, an Employee who has 90 calendar days or more of continuous 13 employment in the classification at the time of selection, the probationary period shall be reduced by 14 90 calendar days.
