ARTICLE CHECK-OFF Subject to the provisions of this Article, the Employer will, as a condition of employment, deduct an amount equal to the amount of the membership dues from the monthly pay of a l l employees i n the bargaining unit. The Institute shall inform the Employer i n writing of the authorized monthly deduction to be checked off for each employee defined i n clause For the purpose of applying clause deduc- tions from pay for each employee i n respect of each month w i l l start with the first full month of employment to the extent that earnings are available. The amounts deducted i n accordance with clause shall be remitted to the Institute by cheque within a reasonable period of time after deductions are made and shall be accompanied by particulars identifying each employee and the deductions made on his behalf. The Employer agrees to continue the past practice of making deductions for other purposes on the basis of the production of appropriate documentation. The Institute agrees to indemnify and save the Employer harmless against any claim or liability arising out of the application of this Article, except for any claim or liability arising out of an committed by the Employer, i n which case the liability shall be limited to the amount of the error.
