Stewards Training Courses. 22.6.1 Where operational requirements permit, the Council may grant leave without pay to a xxxxxxx to undertake training related to the duties of a xxxxxxx.

Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay not exceeding five (5) consecutive days, to employees appointed as Stewards by the Union to undertake training sponsored by the Union related to the duties of a Xxxxxxx. Article 8.02 is applicable.

Where operational requirements permit, and subject to Article 7.08 the Director of Nursing will grant leave without pay not exceeding five (5) days, to employees appointed as Stewards by the Union to undertake training sponsored by the Union related to the duties of a Xxxxxxx.

ARTICLE CHECK-OFF Subject to the provisions of this Article, the Employer will, as a condition of employment, deduct an amount equal to the amount of the membership dues from the monthly pay of a l l employees i n the bargaining unit. The Institute shall inform the Employer i n writing of the authorized monthly deduction to be checked off for each employee defined i n clause For the purpose of applying clause deduc- tions from pay for each employee i n respect of each month w i l l start with the first full month of employment to the extent that earnings are available. An employee who satisfies the Employer to the extent that he declares i n an affidavit that he i s a member of a religious organization registered pursuant to the Income Tax Act, whose doctrine prevents him as a matter of conscience from making financial contributions to an employee organization and that he w i l l make contributions to a charitable organization equal to dues, shall not be subject to this Article, provided that the affidavit submitted by the employee shows the registered number of the religious organization and i s countersigned by an official representative of the religious organization involved. From the date of signing and for the duration of this Agreement, no employee organization, as defined i n Section of the Public Service Staff Relations Act, other than the Institute, shall be permitted to have membership dues and/or other monies deducted by the Employer from the pay of employees i n the bargaining unit. The amounts deducted i n accordance with clause shall be remitted to the Institute by cheque within a reasonable period of time after deductions are made and shall be accompanied by particulars identifying each employee and the deductions made on his behalf. The Employer agrees to continue the past practice of making deductions for other purposes on the basis of the production of appropriate documentation. The Institute agrees to indemnify and save the Employer harmless against any claim or liability arising out of the application of this Article, except for any claim or liability arising out of an committed by the Employer, i n which case the liability shall be limited to the amount of the error.

The Association will provide the Employer with a quarterly listing of training require- ments including the names of Association representatives who will be seeking to attend such courses. ELECTION OR APPOINTMENT TO ASSOCIATION POSITIONS The Employer will grant leave of absence without pay to an employee who is elected or appointed to a full-time position of the Association within one month after notice is given to the Employer of such election or appointment by the Association. The duration of such leave shall be for the period the employee holds such office.
