Study and Travel Leave. 1. The following rules governing Study and Travel Leave of absence in the schools comprising the Ventura Unified School District are hereby established. Leave shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section 44962, 44966, 44969, and 44973 of the Education Code; the provisions of the Education Code shall prevail.

Study and Travel Leave. 9.3.12.1 The Board of Education may approve study and travel leaves not to exceed one (1) year for certificated employees who have served the District for seven (7) consecutive years. The number of employees granted study and travel leaves in any one semester shall not exceed one percent (1%) of those employees in the unit. 9.3.12.2 Study and travel leaves may be granted by the Board of Education from the District rather than from any given position, for the purpose of advanced study, travel study programs, and research. Normally, a minimum of twelve (12) semester units of upper division or graduate level work is required for one (1) semester/trimester leave, and twenty-four (24) units are normally required in the case of two (2) semester/three (3) trimester (one- year) leaves. Such leaves are granted not as a reward for professional services, but rather as an opportunity to prepare for improved service which will benefit the schools and the pupils of the District. 9.3.12.3 The study and travel leave programs shall operate according to the established provisions of this Agreement. 9.3.12.4 Applications for this leave will be reviewed by a study and travel leave committee for making recommendations and establishing priority to the Superintendent or designee. The Superintendent or designee will submit recommendations to the Board of Education. 9.3.12.5 The establishment of these provisions does not void the option of the Superintendent or designee to make recommendations or the Board of Education to grant special study and travel leaves in the best interest of the District. 9.3.12.6 Compensation during a study and travel leave shall be computed at fifty percent (50%) of the pay the employee would have received had the employee remained in the employee's regular position, including any factor dependent upon special credentials, but not including any payment for special assignment or extracurricular activities. 9.3.12.7 Time spent on study and travel leave shall be credited as regular District service in the determination of years of service for sick leave, seniority, and eligibility for fringe benefits, provided the requirements established for the study and travel leave have been satisfactorily met. 9.3.12.8 Applications for study and travel leave will be made in accordance with the following provisions: 9.3.12.8.1 The application for study and travel leave shall be made on the prescribed District form and submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Human R...

  • Study Leave Credits for study leave will be given for educational commitments falling due between an employee's nominated starting and finishing times.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.

  • Personal/Carer’s Leave 18.1 Entitlement to paid personal/carer’s leave a) Paid personal leave will be available to an Employee (other than casual Employees) when they are absent due to: (i) personal illness or injury (sick leave); or (ii) for the purposes of caring for an immediate family or household member who is sick and requires the Employee's care and support (carer's leave). b) The amount of personal leave to which an Employee is entitled is as follows: (i) Upon commencement of employment Employees will automatically be credited with 5 days Personal and/or Xxxxx’s leave. After 6 months of employment, the leave will begin to accrue progressively up until it reaches 10 days at the conclusion of 12 months employment. (ii) Once the Employee has completed one year of continuous employment, the Employee shall be credited with a further ten days personal leave entitlement at the beginning of the Employee's second and subsequent year, which subject to clause 18.1(f) hereof, shall commence on the anniversary of engagement. c) In any year unused personal leave accrues. d) An Employee will inform the Company of the Employee's inability to attend for duty, and need to take personal leave, as soon as practicable. e) An Employee shall prove to the Company's satisfaction that the Employee’s Personal/Xxxxx’s leave is/was justified. Such evidence may be a medical practitioner’s certificate, or a statutory declaration. An Employee will not be required to provide such evidence for single days of absence but only where two or more consecutive days of absence are taken. f) If an Employee’s employment is terminated by the Company and is re-engaged within a period of six months, then the Employee's unclaimed balance of sick leave shall continue from the date of re-engagement. In such case the Employee's next year of service will commence after a total of twelve months has been served with that Company excluding the period of interruption in service from the date of commencement of the previous period of employment or the anniversary of the commencement of the previous period of employment, as the case may be. g) Unpaid carer’s leave will be in accordance with the NES. 18.2 Immediate family or household a) The entitlement to use personal leave for the purpose of carer's or compassionate leave is subject to the person being either: (i) a member of the Employee's immediate family; or (ii) a member of the Employees' household. b) The term immediate family includes: (i) a spouse, de facto partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the Employee; or (ii) a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of a spouse or de facto partner of the Employee.

  • Family and Medical Leave The Employer shall provide employees with the benefits of the Family and Medical Leave Act on a fair and equitable basis in accordance with applicable law and regulation.

  • Personal Medical Leave 1. Accrued 100% sick leave may be used at the employee's discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below. 2. Accrued 75% sick leave may be used following use of all 100% sick leave at the employee’s discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below.

  • Family Medical Leave (a) An employee is entitled to family medical leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act. (b) An employee who is on Family Medical Leave shall continue to accumulate seniority and service and the Home will continue to pay its share of the premiums of the subsidized employee benefits, including pension (if permitted by the Plan and matched by the employee) in which the employee is participating during the leave. (c) Subject to any changes in an employee’s status which would have occurred had he or she not been on Family Medical Leave, the employee shall be reinstated to her former position.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.
