Summer School/Extended School Year. A. A description of all positions or probable positions for summer learning will be announced on the APS website no later than the April 15th. B. When staffing for summer learning teaching positions program needs being equal, to the extent possible, teachers currently employed in the position at the identified summer learning site will be considered. C. Teachers who have been tentatively employed for summer school teaching shall be notified, within twenty-four (24) hours after the third day of the session, whether or not the class(es) for which they were to be employed will, in fact, be conducted. If the teacher is not so notified, the teacher is employed for the class(es) which was (were) offered in registration. D. All applications for summer school will be considered. E. Teaching credential qualifications for summer school positions will be the same as those for regular employment. F. When two (2) or more qualified teachers apply for a program, seniority shall be considered. G. In the event of a need for a Reduction-in-Force of Summer Learning employees, volunteers will be sought first. If a Reduction-in-Force is still necessary, determination will be made on the basis of date of hire for summer school. Procedures for reductions in ESY and K-3 plus programs shall be done so in accordance with Article 15.B. H. When two (2) or more qualified teachers apply for a Summer Learning/Extended School Year program, seniority shall be considered.

Summer School/Extended School Year. Summer school/Extended School Year salaries for district contract teachers shall be their established step and lane. Teachers shall be paid on an hourly basis for all student classroom/instructional contact hours.

Should there be any vacancies not filled by District teachers, employment shall be opened to teachers from outside the District. 23.2 Summer School pay shall be as follows: $128.25 $132.10 $136.04 $140.13 $144.35 The above compensation will be paid to teachers when hired for summer school on daily basis. 23.3 The number of Unit Member work days shall be determined each year, but shall not be fewer than twenty days, nor more than twenty-six days. Teachers will receive one paid day for preparation at the same hours as the program.
Summer School/Extended School Year. Bus Drivers must apply for summer school assignments per the established procedures of the Classified Personnel Services Department. Assignments will be determined per the guidelines for all summer school placement, as agreed upon by CSEA and the District. Bus drivers selected to work the summer school program shall be paid for a minimum of four (4) hours at their appropriate rate of pay.

The official certification and contract status for each teacher will be found on the district-wide seniority list. 2) After considering contract status, staff normally assigned from the extended school year/summer school center or a feeder school for that extended school year/summer school site shall be given priority due to familiarity with the student population. 3) Seniority.

Summer School/Extended School Year. 24.4.1 Summer Bus Routes shall be offered through an application process. A summer/ ESY application process will be available a month before the end of the school year. Applicants will be informed one (1) week before summer school/ESY if they have been selected. 24.4.1.1 Bus Drivers shall have the right to refuse summer work. 24.4.2.1 Summer school routes are subject to change including increase, decrease, and elimination.

Summer school daily rates shall be updated on an annual basis at the same percentage agreed to as part of the on-schedule salary increase, should said increase be part of the current year’s negotiated settlement. The District reserves the right to contract with an outside agency for the administration of summer school. The terms of any agreement with an outside agency for the administration of summer school shall ensure that the rights of unit members imparted in this article shall be maintained. As the District has yet to enter into a contract with an outside agency, the monetary effects of such an agreement are unknown at this time. PVSD and PVEA mutually agree to re-open Article 23 within one (1) year of entering into such an agreement, without the article counting as one of either team’s three
Summer School/Extended School Year. Unless the Parties mutually agree otherwise, bargaining unit members employed for summer school will be paid at their earned hourly rate and will receive their pay on a bi-weekly basis.
