Summer School Employment. 1. Each summer school center shall advertise all anticipated bargaining unit vacancies no later than sixty (60) days prior to the beginning date for such positions. The notice shall state the title of the position; where to apply for the position; deadline for submitting application; certification required; beginning and ending date of employment; the school where the application is to be sent; and the person with whom applications are to be submitted. Each applicant must apply for at least two (2) summer school locations. 2. All applicants shall be informed of the status of their applications no later than twenty (20) days prior to the beginning date of employment.

Summer School Employment. 1. Subject to special requirements of the summer school program (such as inservice training for new personnel), position openings shall be filled on the basis of competence and experience. Preference shall be given, as feasible, to applicants from the regularly-appointed teaching staff; but this shall not preclude the Board from employing outside personnel who, through special qualification, would enrich the program. 2. Professional Employees shall apply by March 15 and will be informed of their positions as soon as enrollment warrants. 3. Applicants from summer school positions may contact the Department of Human Resources after May 15 and receive information about the possibilities of their being assigned to a position that summer. 4. In each case, payment shall be computed on an hourly basis, for an appropriate number of hours and weeks. Such payment will be on a bi-weekly basis.
Summer School Employment. 16.1 If the employer determines to provide summer school classes for students, teachers will be first appointed from the teachers presently employed by the Centre for Education who express an interest in teaching summer school classes and who are deemed qualified and competent by the Centre for Education to do so. 16.2 When choosing teachers for summer school classes, first consideration will be given to teachers who have successfully and satisfactorily taught the course in the immediately preceding summer school and/or school term. 16.3 Salary shall be at the rate determined by the Centre for Education. 16.4 There shall be no additional benefits for teachers of summer school.

Summer School Employment. (a) Selection Criteria for Appointment to Summer School Positions: (i) EMPLOYEES with less than three contract years of full-time service with CCPS would NOT be considered for summer school employment except in such situations where not appropriately certificated or qualified candidates with at least three years of full-time CCPS service had applied. (ii) EMPLOYEES may apply for summer school positions that they currently hold or for a position in which they have a minimum of one (1) year’s prior experience. (iii) Following adherence to Subsection i and ii-above, EMPLOYEES shall be given priority consideration for appointment to summer school positions consistent with the needs of the District. Such priority consideration may be set aside in order to provide the District the opportunity to assure that the staffing of all summer school positions initially has provided equitable assignment of minority applicants and fairly represents schools throughout the district. (iv) The special requirements for meeting the needs of Exceptional Student Education, when necessary, may take precedence to the criteria listed above.
Summer School Employment. If the District, in its discretion, offers a summer school program, teacher employment opportunities for summer school will be posted at least thirty (30) days prior to the beginning of the program. Teachers desiring employment in the summer school program shall submit their applications on forms provided by the District. Teachers who have applied for summer school positions will be notified of the action taken regarding their applications as early as practicable. The salary will be $25.00 per hour for each hour of actual classroom instruction plus 30 minutes per day for preparation time. The Association shall have the right to present to the superintendent, suggestions in regard to the organization of the summer school program prior to distribution of applications.
Summer School Employment. Prior to employing non-unit workers, the District shall first assign regular classified employees to service during summer recess. Summer assignments shall be offered first to unit workers employed less than twelve (12) months in the required classification, and, thereafter, shall be made on the basis of qualifications for employment in each classification of service which is required. The District shall determine the requirements for the position and fill vacancies based on the relation of individual qualifications to the posted position requirements. When two (2) or more applicants are deemed equal in their qualifications, the applicant with most seniority (measured first within the classification and, if that is not determinative, then second within the District) shall be offered the position. When employed for summer school or summer work the employee shall receive, on a pro rata basis, not less than the compensation and benefits which are applicable to that classification during the regular year. Employees shall be placed at the proper salary range of the classification in which employed for work during summer. 1. Employees regularly assigned to a range less than that of summer employment shall be compensated at the “C” salary schedule placement. As example, a paraprofessional (range 16) electing to serve as a custodian (range 20) shall be compensated at range 20C. Substitutes shall be compensated at the “A” salary schedule placement. 2. Employees regularly assigned to a range higher than summer service shall be compensated at the summer range, yet at their current (June 30) experience placement. As example, a school secretary serving as a clerk shall receive his or her experience placement, such as “F4.”

Summer School Employment. Members of this unit shall be made aware of summer school vacancies. Consideration will be given to those employees within the unit who apply for the open summer school positions and who possess the necessary qualifications.
Summer School Employment. The Superintendent or designee shall post on the Hub of the District website a list of all known summer positions by the last working day in April. Employees who desire to apply for those posted positions shall file with the Chief Human Resources Officer an electronic request listing the position(s) desired within ten (10) working days of posting. Seniority will determine summer school appointments except in those cases where the District shall have good cause with basis in fact for overriding seniority. Length of service as a Paraprofessional in the BCPSS. 4. Summer employment salaries shall be the same as the regular school year. 5. Priority shall be given to qualified Paraprofessionals assigned during the regular school year to the summer employment site. 6. On April 1 of each year, BCPSS shall post notice at all worksites and on the BCPSS website that it will accept applications for summer positions.
