Teacher Exchange Leave. The Board and the Association recognize that a teacher exchange between a teacher in Waverly and a teacher in another country can be of value to both the teacher and the Waverly students. Therefore, Xxxxxxx tenured teachers, with at least three (3) years of service in the Waverly Schools, may take part in teacher exchange programs. While a teacher in an exchange program, the teacher will receive his/her regular salary and benefits. Any period so served shall be treated as time taught in Waverly for purposes of increments specified in the salary schedule. It is understood that the Waverly Schools will be obligated for one salary and benefits only.

Teacher Exchange Leave. 31.01 Teachers and the Board are encouraged to take advantage of and participate in such opportunities as are afforded by Teacher Exchange Leaves. 31.02 A Teacher will accumulate a full year's credit on the Seniority List for each year she/he participates in such leaves.
Teacher Exchange Leave. 1. The District and the Union encourage certificated staff participation in the Teacher Exchange Programs that provide for a guest teacher to be placed in a classroom of the District. 2. The teacher requesting an exchange assignment must have completed their third year of full-time service in the District. 3. The teacher making a request for an exchange program leave must first obtain written approval from the building principal. 4. Interested teachers must file a letter of request for leave with the Human Resources Dept. to participate in an exchange teacher program no later than January 1st prior to the year of the leave. 5. Preliminary approval for Teachers’ Exchange Program leave must be obtained from the Governing Board prior to making application to the Exchange Agency. 6. The length of leave shall not exceed one year. 7. All expenses connected with arranging for an exchange assignment shall be borne by the District teacher and/or the guest teacher. For example, the teachers are responsible for the cost of transportation. 8. Each teacher involved in the exchange shall be paid their regular salary by their home school system. The guest teacher shall not be provided with District-paid health and welfare benefits. 9. In the event the exchange leave of the District teacher would be terminated by an illness or for other reasons, the teacher must immediately return to the District in order to remain on paid status. Upon return, the teacher will be placed on unassigned status and given an appropriate assignment as soon as health and/or other conditions permit, for the remainder of the term of the exchange. The teacher would then be reassigned to their prior position when the exchange teacher leaves, provided that position exists for the following year. 10. No teacher will be released for an exchange assignment prior to the last day of his/her regular contracted service unless specifically approved by the Governing Board. The reason for early release must be a condition that cannot be resolved in any other manner. 11. The visiting teacher shall be given current annual sick leave, as awarded other employees of the District. 12. Procedures and regulations of the Exchange Agency shall govern all matters not covered above. 13. Teaching assignments that do not include an exchange arrangement may be applied for under Personal and Professional Leaves without Pay.

For the purpose of this Article, all equivalent benefits (including pension), salary increment credit, sick leave accrual and seniority accrual shall continue as though the employee has continued in the employment of the Board. The employee's accumulated sick leave will be reduced by days absent for illness.

Teacher Exchange Leave. A. All unit members in the District shall be eligible to make application for the teacher exchange program. Office of Education in Washington D.C., in accordance with the Xxxxxxxxx-Xxxx Act of 1961. B. If the unit member requesting the exchange and the Board agrees to the exchange, the District shall pay his/her regular salary, making all deductions provided by law for retirement purposes during the period of exchange teaching. In such case, the District shall not pay the salary of the exchange teacher serving the District in exchange for its regular unit member. C. Such leave when approved by the Board shall be granted for one (1) school year and may be extended two (2) additional school years. All arrangements must be completed by May 1 of the school year preceding the effective year of exchange unless, due to special circumstances, permission is granted by the Board to extend this date.

The employer will accept up to sixty (60) accumulated sick leave days from other school districts in British Columbia, for employees hired to or on exchange in the district. 2. An employee hired to or on exchange in the district shall accumulate and utilize sick leave credit according to the provisions of the Collective Agreement as it applies in that district.

  • TEACHER PROTECTION A. The teachers shall have the right to review those things in his/her personnel file to which he/she is entitled by Law. At the option of the teacher, a representative of the Association may be present for such review. Each file shall contain a record indicating reviewer and date of review, excluding school personnel official access for record maintenance. B. The teacher may submit a written notation regarding any material and the same will be attached to the file copy of the material in question. If the teacher is asked to sign material placed in his/her file, such signature will be understood to indicate his/her awareness of the material but in no instance shall said signature be interpreted to mean agreement with the content of the material. X. Any serious complaint made against a teacher by any parent, student, and other person will be promptly called to the attention of the teacher. D. If a teacher is to be disciplined or reprimanded by the Board or its designee, he/she shall be entitled to have a representative of the Association present. That representative shall be the teacher's choice between the building representative or another Association officer. E. Each teacher has the responsibility for maintaining proper student control and discipline throughout the school day as well as at school-sponsored activities where he/she is serving as a sponsor or chaperone. The teacher, however, has the primary responsibility for maintaining control and discipline in his/her classroom. The Board will give reasonable support and assistance to teachers with respect to maintenance of control and discipline. Whenever is appears that a particular pupil requires special attention, reasonable steps shall be taken to provide such attention. The teachers recognize that all disciplinary actions and methods invoked by them shall be in accordance with established Board policy. F. Any case of assault upon a teacher which is related to a school-centered problem shall be promptly reported to the Board or its designated representative. If the assault was by a pupil or pupils, the Administration shall promptly investigate the matter and determine suitable discipline for the assaulting pupil. This decision shall be communicated to the teacher concerned. If the assault is by an adult, who is not a pupil, the Board its designee representative shall promptly report the incident to the proper law enforcement authorities. G. A teacher may suspend a pupil from one (1) period, when the grossness of the offense, the persistence of the misbehavior, or the disruptive effect of the violation makes the continued presence of the student in that classroom intolerable. In such cases, the teacher will promptly (by the end of the school day) furnish the administrator or counselor full particulars of the incident. The teacher and the administration will cooperatively endeavor to achieve correction of student behavior through whatever avenues are reasonably available. H. School administrators and teachers will endeavor to achieve correction of the students' misbehavior through counseling and interviews with the child and his/her parents when warranted.

  • Civic Leave Civic leave is provided to faculty members who are a) subpoenaed to appear before any court or other legally constituted body authorized to compel the attendance of witnesses, where the employee is not a party to the action; or b) summoned for jury duty by any court of competent jurisdiction. Faculty members required to report or serve for only part of a day for court or jury duty are obligated to return for the remainder of that day unless otherwise authorized by the Chair. Faculty members are required to provide written notification of civic leave to the Chair as far in advance of the leave as possible. Documentation regarding the leave (e.g., a copy of the summons, subpoena) shall be attached to the notification. The faculty member may retain any money received as compensation or expense reimbursement for jury duty or court attendance compelled by the summons or subpoena.

  • Consumer Protection 1. The Parties recognize the importance of maintaining and adopting transparent and effective measures to protect consumers from fraudulent and deceptive commercial practices in electronic commerce. 2. To this end, the Parties shall exchange information on their experiences in protecting consumers engaged in electronic commerce.

  • STUDENT DISCIPLINE AND TEACHER PROTECTION A. The Board recognizes its responsibility to give all reasonable support and assistance to teachers with respect to the maintenance of control and discipline in the classroom. Whenever it appears that a particular pupil requires the attention of special counselors, social workers, law enforcement personnel, physicians, or other professional persons, the principal shall be notified. The Board feels that the teacher and the specialists indicated above should work together to improve the case. B. It is recognized that discipline problems are less likely to occur in classes where a high level of student interest is maintained. It is likewise recognized that when discipline problems occur, they may most constructively be dealt with by encouragement, praise and emphasis upon a child’s desirable characteristics. A teacher may use such force as is necessary, according to the law, to protect himself/herself from attack or to prevent injury to another student. C. A teacher may ask the principal to exclude a pupil from class when the grossness of the offense, the persistence of the misbehavior, or the disruptive effect of the violation makes the continued presence of the student in the classroom intolerable. In such cases, the teacher will furnish the principal, as promptly as his/her teaching obligations will allow, full particulars of the incident in writing. D. Procedure for suspension of students from school shall be distributed to students and teachers each year. E. Any case of assault upon a teacher while on duty should be promptly reported to the Board or its designated representative. The Board will provide legal counsel to advise the teacher of his/her rights and obligations with respect to such assault and shall promptly render all reasonable assistance to the teacher in connection with handling of the incident by law enforcement and judicial authorities. F. If any teacher is complained against or sued as a result of any action taken by the teacher while in pursuit of his/her employment, the Board may provide legal counsel and render all necessary assistance to the teacher in his/her defense. G. Time lost by a teacher in connection with any incident mentioned in this Article shall not be charged against the teacher. X. The Board will reimburse teachers for any loss, damages or destruction of clothing or personal property of the teacher while on duty in the school or on school premises in those cases where the school could have reasonably prevented the loss. I. No action shall be taken upon any complaint by a parent of the student directed toward the teacher nor shall any notice thereof be included in said teacher’s personnel file unless such matter is promptly reported in writing to the teacher concerned. J. Teachers shall be expected to exercise reasonable care with respect to the safety of pupils and property, but shall not be individually liable, except in the case of gross neglect of duty, for any damage or loss to person or property.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Wall Street Transparency and Accountability Act of 2010 The parties hereby agree that none of (i) Section 739 of the WSTAA, (ii) any similar legal certainty provision included in any legislation enacted, or rule or regulation promulgated, on or after the Trade Date, (iii) the enactment of the WSTAA or any regulation under the WSTAA, (iv) any requirement under the WSTAA or (v) any amendment made by the WSTAA shall limit or otherwise impair either party’s right to terminate, renegotiate, modify, amend or supplement this Confirmation or the Agreement, as applicable, arising from a termination event, force majeure, illegality, increased cost, regulatory change or similar event under this Confirmation, the Equity Definitions or the Agreement (including, but not limited to, any right arising from any Acceleration Event).
