Temporary Teacher. Any teacher who has been employed to fill a position designated as temporary or experimental or to fill a vacancy which occurs after the opening of school because of unanticipated enrollment or because of the death, disability, retirement, resignation or dismissal of a contract or probationary teacher, or for a teacher on approved leave of absence. Sec 1.2.3.1 Temporary teachers working between one and 60 days will not be considered a part of the St. Helens Education Association bargaining unit. Beginning day 61, temporary teachers will be considered members of the St. Helens Education Association bargaining unit for all aspects of this Agreement excluding unpaid leaves, and layoff. Sec 1.2.3.2 For the purpose of this definition, "days" shall mean teacher working days.
Temporary Teacher a. A certified employee or an employee serving under a Durational Shortage Area Permit (“DSAP”) who is replacing a teacher for more than forty (40) consecutive school days on an approved or authorized leave of absence. b. A certified employee or an employee serving under a Durational Shortage Area Permit (“DSAP”) who is filling a position for more than forty (40) consecutive school days for which a permanent teacher has not been appointed. c. A certified employee or an employee serving under a Durational Shortage Area Permit (“DSAP”) who is filling a position for more than forty (40) consecutive school days due to the resignation, retirement or termination of a regularly appointed teacher prior to the end of the academic year to which he/she was appointed. All temporary teachers shall be placed on the BA Step 1 of the salary schedule or on a higher placement as determined by the Superintendent and receive all the benefits granted to regularly appointed teachers. Such salary placement shall be made after the temporary teacher has worked in the same position for forty (40) consecutive school days or at such earlier time as determined by the Department of Human Resources. All other teachers shall be regularly appointed teachers. Teachers on the layoff list or teachers who have received notice of layoff shall have preference by seniority for temporary teacher positions for which they are qualified. They shall be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule and retain all their rights and privileges. Notwithstanding any of the above, a regularly appointed teacher who, prior to layoff or prior to receipt of notice of layoff, transfers into a temporary teacher opening shall retain his/her regular status. A teacher who is on layoff who is recalled to a temporary teacher opening shall be considered regularly appointed and shall retain whatever rights to be placed in a permanent full-time position as he/she had while on layoff and shall attain no greater rights as to recall because of appointment to the temporary position.

  • Temporary Roads As necessary to attain stabilization of roadbed and fill slopes of Temporary Roads, Purchaser shall employ such measures as out- sloping, drainage dips, and water-spreading ditches.

  • Temporary Layoff The Employer may temporarily layoff an employee for up to ninety (90) days due to an unanticipated loss of funding, revenue shortfall, lack of work, shortage of material or equipment, or other unexpected or unusual reasons. An employee will normally receive seven (7) days notice of a temporary layoff.

  • Temporary Work Temporary work results from replacing a faculty member on leave, or assigned to other duties, or work that is a result of a time limited contract/project.

The Hospital will outline to employees selected to fill such temporary vacancies and the Union, the circumstances giving rise to the vacancy, and the special conditions relating to such employment.

  • Temporary Layoffs A. The Employer may initiate a temporary layoff for up to twelve (12) working days per fiscal year. Employees will be given thirty (30) days’ notice before the effective date of a temporary layoff. Employees may request alternative temporary layoff days from their manager or supervisor and any requests will be considered and approved or denied in writing. B. A temporary layoff will not affect an employee’s incremental movement, vacation and sick leave accrual rates, or seniority. C. A temporary layoff is leave without pay. An employee may not use any leave for a temporary layoff day(s).
