All other teachers shall be regularly appointed teachers. Teachers on the layoff list or teachers who have received notice of layoff shall have preference by seniority for temporary teacher positions for which they are qualified. They shall be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule and retain all their rights and privileges. Notwithstanding any of the above, a regularly appointed teacher who, prior to layoff or prior to receipt of notice of layoff, transfers into a temporary teacher opening shall retain his/her regular status. A teacher who is on layoff who is recalled to a temporary teacher opening shall be considered regularly appointed and shall retain whatever rights to be placed in a permanent full-time position as he/she had while on layoff and shall attain no greater rights as to recall because of appointment to the temporary position.
