Textbooks. With the exception shown in Section 7.1.1, the University and the AAUP-WSU agree that NTE and TET Bargaining Unit Faculty Members shall select textbooks and other teaching material (e.g., software, course notes, etc.) for the courses they teach and that the decision whether to do so individually or collectively will be made by them and by administrators who are members of their department and teach the course(s) in question.
7.1.1 Textbooks and other teaching material (e.g. software, course notes, etc.) for School of Medicine courses shall be selected by an all-faculty committee within that particular discipline. If any portion of Section 7.1.1 can be shown by an external accreditation report not to comply with accreditation standards for the School of Medicine, the textbooks shall be chosen by a Course Oversight Committee and the School of Medicine Faculty Curriculum Committee.
7.1.2 When selecting textbooks and other teaching materials, Bargaining Unit Faculty Members shall make good faith efforts to keep costs to students as low as possible without sacrificing academic needs and to select teaching materials that are consistent with the curriculum.
Textbooks. The Board through the Superintendent shall, whenever possible, provide each student with individual copies of all textbooks which, in the judgment of the members, the student will need in courses to which they are assigned. The Association shall be informed of the creation of textbook adoption committees and be provided with a list of members volunteering to serve on the committees. The Association may appoint up to three (3) members to the committee who may or may not be among the list of volunteers. The recommendations of the textbook adoption committee shall be provided to the Association for its review prior to implementation. Questions about the desirability of individual texts shall be submitted to an advisory committee of six (6) teachers, appointed by the Superintendent, and the President, each to appoint three (3). The Superintendent shall designate the chairman of the committee.
Textbooks. The choice of textbooks and instructional materials shall be a College responsibility with the actual selection being a function of the faculty teaching a specific course. • The College, through the Office of Dual Enrollment, will provide Private School students with the required instructional material on a loan basis. Students must return the loaned instructional material by the due date each term. Items not returned by the student may result in cancellation or prevention of registration, per College procedure. • Instructional material shall include, but not be limited to, textbooks, consumables, and online codes, section 1006.29(2), Florida Statutes (2023). • The Private School will collaborate with the Office of Dual Enrollment and assist with the distribution and collection of instructional material. • The College will not reimburse the Private School, students, or parents for instructional material purchased outside of the College loan process. • The College is not required to purchase optional course material. • Students will receive communication from the Office of Dual Enrollment, through their NFC email account, with information about receiving their required instructional material each term.
Textbooks. A. The Board will insure that each pupil in a classroom has textbooks for his/her own use when it is determined that it should be so as outlined in B below.
B. Recognizing the statutory responsibility of the Board for the provision of textbooks and also the professional competence and skills of the staff in relation to textbook selection, the SEA and the Board agree that the determination of textbooks to be used in the schools shall be cooperatively arrived at through joint consultation among unit members and administrators, subject to final approval by the Board.
Textbooks. Except in courses/sections where texts are mandated, an Employee will have the right to select a text of his or her own choosing subject to the approval of the Associate Xxxx or designee. In courses/sections in which texts are mandated, Employees may express their thoughts or make suggestions as to the texts to be used. The College or department will make arrangements for Employees to be able to obtain texts when provided free of charge by the publisher. Any instructional materials that the Associate Xxxx or designee requires to be used in teaching a course or that are required of students taking the course will be made available at no cost to the Employee.
Textbooks. 13-1 The selection and distribution of textbooks will be the responsibility of the district administrators predicated on the recommendation of the professional staff that will utilize the textbooks and those staff members that teach that subject area at the next lower and higher grade levels. Supplementary materials shall be considered if evidence can be provided to justify the educational value and economic investment.
Textbooks. A. The Committee will provide textbooks and other materials, including two (2) textbooks and two (2) teacher manuals for each teacher, said books to remain the property of the School Department.
B. Suggestions for textbooks will be solicited from teachers in the areas of their assignments by their supervisors including principals and department heads.
Textbooks. Opinions regarding these textbooks will be presented by the piloting teachers for the subject involved (if the textbook has been piloted), and by the Chairperson of the Committee. Any other opinion may be given from the floor. After this meeting, complete sets of the textbooks and supplemental information, if available, for the textbooks recommended will remain in each school for at least ten (10) school days. Following that, a meeting will be scheduled where a vote of the teachers who will be using the text will be taken. A vote of those in attendance that will use the textbook shall be recorded and presented to the Superintendent. A summary of this vote and the opinions (including a minority report if necessary) shall be presented to the Superintendent as a recommendation of the teachers.
Textbooks. Teachers who have concerns about the adequacy of the supply of textbooks or instructional materials necessary to deliver the Board- adopted curriculum should express their concerns to the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee and follow up in writing. If the matter is not resolved to the teacher’s satisfaction, the matter may be brought to the Superintendent.
Textbooks. A. The Committee will provide sufficient textbooks to ensure that each pupil in a classroom has textbooks for his/her own use.
B. When a recommendation for a new textbook at the secondary level is about to be made to the Superintendent, a meeting of all teachers concerned will be called; and at that meeting, the teachers concerned will be given an opportunity to express their opinions and to vote on the textbook desired. A summary of such comment and vote shall be presented to the Superintendent.
C. When a recommendation for a new textbook at the elementary level is about to be made to the Superintendent, the following procedure will be used. Notification of a textbook selection meeting will be included in the Superintendent's monthly calendar. The committee is to be comprised of the assigned Director, assigned Principals, and volunteer affected elementary teachers representing each grade and each school. A Chairperson and recording secretary shall be elected from this group. Posted meetings shall be held regularly. If the Committee so decides, and if funds, where needed, are available within the constraints of the budget, textbooks can be piloted at each grade level by members of the committee after which time the piloting teachers will present opinions related to curriculum.
