23.2 The Sheriff will pay the following incentive pay for law enforcement related education as defined by the State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission to all eligible bargaining unit members covered by this Agreement pursuant to Florida Statutes.
A. Completed Associate's Degree or equivalent $30.00 per month
B. Completed Bachelor's Degree (Four years of college) $80.00 per month
C. Completed Master's Degree $50.00 per month
23.3 Attendance at training related to a bargaining unit member's duties as a law enforcement officer, approved by the chain of command and training, shall be attended in an on-duty status. However, this provision does not apply to career development (incentive) courses, unless specifically approved by the chain of command.
23.4 Payment for attendance at approved career development training courses shall continue as prescribed by Section 943.22, Florida Statutes.

Eligibility for payments outlined in this Article will not be included in the calculation of accrued leave payouts upon entering DROP or at the time of separation.
TRAINING AND TUITION. 49.01 The Employer shall cover reasonable costs for employees who attend training programs at the request of the Employer at approved institutions or conferences off-site where such training relates to jobs within the Bargaining Unit. Where the training program is conducted by the Board during regular working hours, time spent in such program shall be considered, for the purposes of salary and benefits, to be time worked. Overtime shall not be paid for attendance at off-site training programs.
49.02 The Employer shall reimburse to each member the cost of meals incurred while attending a training programs as identified in 49.01 where meals are not provided and receipts are submitted. Payment under this Article shall be consistent with Board Guidelines.
49.03 The Employer shall provide training opportunities as required related to the introduction of new equipment, technology or practices that directly impact the work of an Employee within the Bargaining Unit.
49.04 Employees whose position is reduced or deleted due to the introduction of new automated equipment or technology shall be retrained as may be required to maintain a position within the Bargaining Unit.
49.05 The Employer shall reimburse members for tuition fees upon successful completion of an Employer pre-approved course which is job related. Such reimbursements shall be provided upon proof of successful completion of the course and submission of proof of tuition fee.
TRAINING AND TUITION. 19.10.01 In the event the Company provides training to employees, and subject to the exceptions con- tained in Article 19.10.01.01 and 19.10.01.02, such training will be provided in order of clas- sification seniority to employees in the base, location and classification from which employees are being offered training, up to the number of employees required by the company. If train- ing cannot be provided in order of seniority due to the absence of an employee or if such would result, in the Company’s opinion, in a depletion of expertise among the remaining work force, employees not trained in order of seniority will be trained at the first opportunity within nine- ty (90) days and such employees will not be prejudiced in any manner as a result thereof.

However, an Apprentice who has only six (6) months remaining in their apprenticeship program and who has successfully written all of their Transport Canada exams except CARS will not be bypassed. Other similar situations, which justify an exception, will be by mutual agreement between the Company and Bargaining Committee Chairperson.
19.10.01.01 (b) Where safety and compliance training is deemed mandatory for all employees, the Company may schedule for individuals in any order.
19.10.01.01 (c) At the Company’s discretion up to 12% of the available seats on each course will be made available to employees who have completed their probation period and hold a TC license with no ACA. Within this group of employees, the training will be offered in order of sen- iority. Senior employees will not be disadvantaged because a junior employee attended training under this provision. In addition, should one or more bases have 20% or more of its personnel licensed without an ACA, one (1) additional seat will be granted to one such base.
19.10.01.01 (d) Employees will only be scheduled for the endorsement training if they have successfully completed the MCM/MPM training and have successfully completed the test required to hold an ACA 30 days prior to the course start date.

19.10.02 All training in accordance with Article 19.10.01 and other training for scope duties will be considered as time worked. If classroom training is six (6) hours or more in duration, the employee will not be required to return to duty, without loss of pay.
19.10.03 Any employee, who enrolls in a course at any recognized educational institution which is designed to upgrade their current skills on the job or to provide useful training in their career with the Company, will be reimbursed one-half of the cost of tuition and textbooks for such courses taken outside normal working hours.
