TUITION CREDIT. 24.1 A. Employees taking work related coursework, including coursework toward a two- year associate degree or four-year bachelor's degree, are eligible for tuition reimbursement if such coursework is pre-approved by the Superintendent or his or her designee. Reimbursement eligibility shall not exceed $1,300 per employee (except paraprofessionals taking classes to obtain their teaching license are eligible for up to $1,500 reimbursement), nor total more than $25,000 District-wide for any school year. Such approval by the Superintendent or his or her designee shall be on a first come-first served basis. The Superintendent’s decision on pre-approving a course shall be final and not subject to the arbitration procedure of this Contract.
TUITION CREDIT. A. Tuition reimbursement rates will be fifty percent (50%) of the cost per graduate credit hour (semester or quarter). Undergraduate hours will be reimbursed at twenty-five percent (25%) of the cost per credit hour. Teachers requesting tuition reimbursement are to complete the appropriate paperwork/forms prior to submitting the request to administration.
1. Eligible coursework for reimbursement begins after completion of the bargaining unit member’s second instructional year. Employees who have been RIFFED pursuant to Article 25 of this Negotiated Agreement shall be forgiven from the above-described obligation.
2. Coursework must be completed within one (1) calendar year from the date of request unless a waiver is approved based on the requirements of the coursework being taken and program requirements.
3. The bargaining unit member shall have received the prior approval of the LPDC and the District’s Treasurer.
4. The maximum amount of reimbursement for any certificated bargaining unit member will be $1,600 per year.
5. The bargaining unit member must take the course work in his/her area of certifications or in other course work approved by the LPDC.
6. The Board shall allocate $16,000.00 for each year of this contract for tuition reimbursement. There will be no roll-over of remaining funds at the end of each fiscal year.
7. Funds will be allocated on a fiscal year basis (July 1 – June 30). Reimbursements will be paid after the close of the fiscal year for those classes which were completed during that fiscal year. All paperwork, proof of satisfactory completion of coursework (grade of C or better), and proof of expense must be submitted before the end of June to be eligible for reimbursement. If the requests for reimbursement exceed $16,000 in total, then reimbursements will be made on a pro-rata basis.
B. Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) Purpose of the LPDC The purpose of the LPDC is to oversee and review the professional development of Elgin bargaining unit members in accordance with the Elgin local Schools’ mission statement and the Ohio credential requirements. The Elgin LPDC will consist of four (4) bargaining unit members and one (1) administrator.

TUITION CREDIT. 1. A licensed/certificated staff member shall receive up to Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) per quarter hour and Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00) per semester hour for a total of up to One Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($1,400.00) per contract year (September to August) for tuition expenses incurred in the pursuit of additional training. The following stipulations apply:
a. The tuition reimbursement account will have a total of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000) per year available to staff for such purpose.
b. Coursework must have prior approval of the Superintendent.
c. Academic credit must come from an accredited university and apply to a degree or to the Professional Development Plan, if applicable.
d. Coursework taken in a content area must be taught in the college or department of the certification/licensure held by the staff member.
e. Undergraduate or graduate hours apply if they are in pursuit of new or additional licensure.
2. Reimbursement shall be made to the licensed/certificated staff member by the first pay after September 14 providing that receipts and proof of completed training which may include either records of grades or transcripts has been presented to the Treasurer. No deductions will be made from the reimbursement check. In the event that requests for reimbursement exceed the amount in the account, each person will receive a proportionate share based on the hours submitted.
3. A reconciliation of the Tuition account shall be made available to the President of the EEA by October 1 of each contract year.
TUITION CREDIT. Bargaining unit members' children, whether the unit member lives in an adjacent or non-adjacent school district, shall be given priority within the Board's open enrollment policy. Such enrollment shall be subject to the conditions of the Board's open enrollment policy and tuition free.
TUITION CREDIT. Members who have completed one (1) year of continuous active service may be eligible for reimbursement of the tuition costs, up to a maximum of $4,000.00 per calendar year, for course work leading to an advanced associates or bachelor’s degree voluntarily undertaken and that is approved in advance by the Fire Chief and is directly related to Fire Science or Emergency Medical Services, including the Ohio Fire Executive degree. Job relatedness will be determined by the Fire Chief in his sole and absolute discretion. All courses taken must be given by an approved and accredited educational institution. In addition to the remaining Sections in this Article, the course tuition program shall be subject to the following additional conditions:
TUITION CREDIT. Any Employee of the Township Police Department wishing to take Police related collegiate course work, on his own time, shall avail himself of any and all State and Federal funding to cover the cost of same.
TUITION CREDIT. The teacher on sabbatical leave shall be entitled to tuition refund in accordance with Chapter X, Section A.6. of the contract.
TUITION CREDIT. Members who have completed eighteen (18) months of continuous active service may be eligible for tuition credit, up to a maximum of $500.00 per calendar year, for training courses of instruction voluntarily undertaken that are approved in advance by the Fire Chief and Board of Trustees and are deemed necessary and job related. Job relatedness and the need for the training will be determined by the Fire Chief and Board of Trustees in their sole and absolute discretion. In addition to the remaining Sections in this Article, the training course tuition program shall be subject to the following additional conditions:
TUITION CREDIT. For the purposes of section 118.5 of the Income Tax Act (Canada), each of the Schools (other than the corporate education division owned, operated and administered by the Company and its Subsidiaries) is an educational institution in Canada that is either:
(a) a university, college or other educational institution providing courses at a post-secondary school level, or
(b) certified by the Minister of Human Resources Development to be an educational institution providing courses, other than courses designed for university credit, that furnish a Person with skills for, or improve a Person's skills in, an occupation, and each Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate (Form T2202A), and any equivalent form or certificate issued under the Income Tax Act (Canada) or the legislation of any province or territory in Canada, issued by a School has been issued in respect of a course for which a student enrolled in that course would be eligible to claim a tuition credit under section 118.5 of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
TUITION CREDIT. The District shall reimburse the Business Manager for required tuition and/or fees, as they apply, up to a sum of one thousand dollars and no cents ($1000.00) annually provided she is enrolled in an approved course of study leading to an advanced degree, germane to her current assignment. Furthermore and in order to receive a reimbursement, the Business Manager shall provide evidence of the successful completion of said course and receipts, documenting expenses were paid in full. Successful completion requires a grade of “B” or better.
