Use of Compensatory Time Off. The Department Head or his/her designee shall determine the period when accrued CTO may be taken by each employee consistent with the needs of the department. The Department Head or his/her designee must give prior approval in writing before CTO may be granted. If an employee is assigned to a 12-hour shift plan and required to work during his/her regularly scheduled time off, the Department Head or his/her designee may schedule time off during the next regularly scheduled shift to ensure the employee has adequate time to rest to avoid the possibility of fatigue. The period of time the Department Head or his/her designee may schedule the employee off shall not exceed the amount of time the employee was required to work during his/her scheduled time off.
Use of Compensatory Time Off. The worker may use the compensatory time off at any time mutually agreed upon between the employee and his/her immediate supervisor. Such compensatory time must be taken within one
(1) year after it is earned. The maximum accumulated time off shall not exceed 240 hours.
Use of Compensatory Time Off. An employee who requests the use of accumulated compensatory time off will be permitted to use such time within a reasonable period after making the request, unless use of the compensatory time off will unduly disrupt the operations of the department. Compensatory time off shall be available for use as soon as it is earned.

Any compensatory time off from overtime or court time that is not used by December 31st of each year will be paid by the Town; however, each officer shall have the option of banking up to sixteen (16) hours of compensatory time off to be used in the following calendar year. An officer may have a maximum of fifty six (56) hours of total compensatory time off in the months of January through April; however, by May 1st of each year no officer may have more than forty (40) hours of total compensatory time off from all sources.
Use of Compensatory Time Off. Members of the bargaining unit may take compensatory time off for 27 which overtime is required by this section in lieu of overtime cash payments. Requests for compensatory time off 28 must be approved by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. Compensatory time off will not be granted during a 29 period of unusual manpower need or if the granting of such time would unduly disrupt the operation of the department 30 as determined by the Chief or his/her designee. "Compensatory time" or "compensatory time off" is defined to mean 31 hours during which an employee is not working, which are not counted as hours worked during the applicable 32 workweek or other work period for purposes of overtime compensation, and for which the employee is compensated 33 at the employee's regular rate.

Use of Compensatory Time Off. Use of compensatory time off will be at the Town's discretion based on scheduling needs. The Town shall, to the best of its ability and subject to scheduling needs of the Town, make every effort to accommodate employee requests for compensatory time off.

As part of the 2014-2017 Agreement between the Los Angeles Community College District and the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, the parties agree to meet to discuss implementing the following change to Article 10, paragraph B of the Agreement: Regarding the requirement that compensatory time off (CTO) be taken by the employee before the end of the fiscal year in which the overtime was worked, the District and the Council mutually desire to change this requirement as follows: If an employee and his/her supervisor agree that the employee cannot fully exhaust his/her CTO balance by the end of the fiscal year, then they may agree to the following alternative procedure:
Use of Compensatory Time Off. Overtime earned may be used by the employee in the form of pay at the rate of one and one- half (1 & 1/2) times or compensatory time off at the rate of one and one-half (1 & 1/2) times, up to a maximum of two hundred forty (240) hours banked. The employee may elect to use compensatory time off within departmental policy with approval of his/her supervisor. An employee may use compensatory time banked during slack periods of operations (especially in the biosolids management program). The compensatory time bank is also available to be converted to pay by an employee at his or her option, or to be used as a contribution to a qualified deferred compensation plan.
