Overtime and Callback a) Work in excess of the employee’s regularly-scheduled hours, or work on the employee’s off day shall be considered as overtime. Overtime pay rates will be as follows: i) time and one-half (1 ½X) the regular rate of pay for the first two (2) hours of overtime on the employee’s regular working day; ii) double (2X) the regular rate of pay after the initial two (2) hours of overtime; and, iii) double (2X) the regular rate of pay for all work on the employee’s off day. b) Employees who are requested to continue working after completing their regular schedule of hours in any one (1) day will be paid for the actual time worked, at the applicable rate. c) Employees called back to duty after completing their regular day’s work, or who are called in to work on their off day(s) will be paid a minimum of two (2) hours’ pay at the applicable rate, or actual time worked, at the applicable rate, whichever is greater.

Overtime and Callback. A. Regular Overtime: Any time worked in excess of forty (40) hours during the regular work week shall be at the rate of time and one half (1 ½). Overtime is voluntary and assigned by seniority in a job title. Approval for additional time or overtime must be obtained in advance from the supervisor accept in emergency circumstances.
Overtime and Callback. 3.2.1 Overtime lists based on seniority shall be maintained by the captains for the rotational procurement of employees to fill vacancies and details when said employees are available. A. Opportunities for overtime shall be offered equally to all employees. A refusal of overtime counts as an opportunity. B. Every effort shall be made to fill vacancies with an employee of equal rank to the absent employee. If this is not possible, then an employee will be appointed to work out of grade. C. When filling vacancies for a twenty-four (24) hour shift, the overtime shall be filled in ten (10) hour day shifts (08:00 to 18:00) and fourteen (14) hour night shifts (18:00 to 08:00). Employees shall not be scheduled to work more than forty-eight (48) consecutive hours. After 48 consecutive hours of work, there shall be a minimum 10- hour break before additional hours may be assigned or worked. This shall not include emergency coverage situations as determined by the Chief or his designee. 3.2.2 An employee held overtime beyond his/her regular tour of duty shall be granted a minimum of two (2) hours overtime pay, and any overtime worked in excess of two (2) hours shall be compensated for the next full hour, and so on. An employee who is held beyond the end of an overtime shift that is less than ten (10) hours shall be compensated overtime pay to the next full hour, and any overtime worked in excess of the first hour shall be compensated for the next full hour, and so on. An employee who is held beyond an overtime shift that is ten (10) or more hours shall be granted a minimum of two (2) hours overtime pay, and any overtime worked in excess of two (2) hours shall be compensated for the next full hour, and so on. An employee called back to duty shall be compensated at an overtime rate of pay hereinafter set forth for at least four (4) hours, even if the overtime actually worked is less than four (4) hours. Overtime and Callback. Section 1. All members of the bargaining unit shall be eligible for overtime. Section 2. Employees shall receive overtime for hours worked in excess of 182 hours in a twenty four (24) day period. Section 3. Employees assigned to work a twenty-four hour shift schedule who are called back to duty shall be compensated in cash with a minimum of two (2) hours at one and one-half times his base hourly rate. Section 4. An employee assigned to the Fire Prevention Division who is called back to duty shall be compensated in cash or compensatory time with a minimum of two (2) hours at one and one-half times his base hourly rate. Section 5. The decision on whether or not overtime or call back is required shall be at the discretion and only with approval of the Supervisor in charge at the Fire Captain level or above. Section 6. Overtime and call back time will be rounded off to the nearest one-quarter hour for reporting purposes to compute overtime pay. Section 7. Maximum accrual of compensatory time for which an employee may have at any one time shall be eighty (80) hours for employees assigned to a forty (40) hour work week.
