WORK YEAR AND WORK DAY. 34 A. Except as otherwise provided in Section B, the K-12 and adult educator work year shall consist of 35 not more than one hundred eighty-three (183) days. The School Counselor work year shall be one 36 hundred ninety-three (193) days. Two of the non-student days will not be placed in the school 37 calendar and will be used for parent conferencing outside the normal work day. One (1) of the first 38 two (2) workdays and the last workday for educators will be for educator preparation. 40 B. Any educator required to work in addition to the regular work year set forth in Section A above and in 41 excess of the educator work year shall be paid at a salary rate computed by dividing the individual's 42 regular annual salary, excluding differential payment, by 183 days divided by seven and one-half 43 (7.5) hours times the number of hours worked for educators covered by this contract. 45 C. Educators shall be permitted to leave the building during any scheduled duty-free lunch period, 46 provided that they first sign out with the school office. Educators shall have similar rights under the 47 same conditions with respect to so-called planning periods but only in the event of emergency 48 personal business or necessary school related business. 1 D. The individual educator's classroom day will not be "staggered" (e.g. 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 2 p.m.) except when essential for curriculum scheduling. 5 1. Educators will report to school 15 minutes before the start of the student day. 7 2. Sixty minutes will be required every Wednesday to begin 10 minutes after the end of the 8 student instructional day; on early release days, the 60 minutes will begin at the same time as 9 if there had not been an early release. The 60 minutes will be used for district or school 10 directed professional development, committee meetings, monthly faculty and department 11 meetings, etc. 13 3. The Board and the Association recognize that the teaching profession carries with it many 14 demands that cannot be met during the student instructional day, and thus, educators are 15 expected to work for a period of time beyond the student instructional day. WORK YEAR AND WORK DAY. 16.1 The work year for teachers shall consist of 180 days. The position of certified guidance counselor shall work 185 days. 16.2 The normal teacher workday shall constitute a 7-hour workday, with the beginning and ending times of student attendance to be established by the administration. In cases of early dismissal, but excluding scheduled school improvement days and half-day in-services, the employee's regular workday shall be shortened to allow teachers to leave immediately after students are dismissed. A teacher may leave the school earlier with permission of the building Principal. 16.3 The work day for teachers employed in the high school building shall be from fifteen (15) minutes before and until ten (10) minutes after the regularly scheduled school day. There can be early dismissal at 2:10p.m. once a month for teachers’ monthly meeting. The work day for teachers employed in the grade school building shall be from five (5) minutes before and five (5) minutes after the regularly scheduled school day. The building of employment will be determined by that teacher’s first and last period assignments. 16.4 If any employee is required by the administration to attend a professional conference, workshop/training, or assigned committee work during the summer, the employee shall receive a stipend of thirty-five dollars ($35) for up to four (4) hours per day and seventy dollars ($70.00) for four (4) hours or more per day. 16.5 Each full-time teacher shall be entitled to a preparation period of not less than 40 minutes during each regular workday. If a need exists, the administration may ask a teacher volunteer to teach an extra course in lieu of a planning period. If the teacher accepts the teacher shall receive compensation equal to 1/8 of their base salary. The teacher may refuse this request.
WORK YEAR AND WORK DAY. A. The in-school work year for teachers shall be one hundred eighty-six (186) days, which shall include one (1) orientation day and one (1) in-service day. The day before Thanksgiving shall be a minimum length school day. B. Teachers in grades K-5 will have a preparation period whenever the art, music, physical education, Guidance Counselor, Media Specialist or Spanish teacher assumes control of the class. Teachers in grades 3-5 will have a preparation period whenever the technology teacher assumes control of the class. This provision will not apply if the classes are conducted virtually. The classroom teacher shall resume control of the class in sufficient time to permit the special subject teacher identified in the preceding sentence to assume control of their next class of students. District Representatives and DEA Representatives will form a voluntary Committee to discuss the possibility of revising the schedule for elementary teachers so as to at least attempt to provide all elementary teachers with one preparation period per day. C. When a teacher in grades K-12 is denied their only preparation period scheduled on that day due to a combination of both an absence for an approved reason and the Board’s failure or inability to retain a substitute teacher, or when a K-12 classroom teacher is required to attend a child study team meeting, and/or a 504 meeting, specifically an Identification, Eligibility, Individual Education Plan, or Re-evaluation Plan meeting which convenes during a preparation period scheduled on that day, the classroom teacher losing the preparation period shall be paid $33.00. D. Should either a classroom teacher or a child study team member be required to attend a Child Study meeting and/or a 504 meeting, specifically an Identification, Eligibility, Individual Education Plan, or Re-evaluation Plan which convenes or continues outside the workday, they shall be compensated equal to the loss of one (1) prep period. Such meetings that extend beyond one (1) hour shall be compensated a flat two (2) prep period rate as noted in Section B. above. 1. Eligibility for compensation for either a classroom teacher or a child study team member covered by this agreement is defined as a half hour before the standard teacher arrival time or a half hour after the standard teacher departure time. WORK YEAR AND WORK DAY. (Article XII) a. The Preschool employee will not be eligible for any aspects of this article. b. The work year will consist of a maximum of one hundred eighty-five (185) days for new employees (one hundred eighty-four (184) days for current employees) of which one hundred eighty (180) days are with students in attendance including Preschool parent-teacher conferences. In addition to the aforementioned days, employees will be required to attend Preschool open houses. The final compensated "workday" will be reduced to accommodate the required open house scheduled time. The length of the school day is 7.5 hours. c. A half-time Preschool employee will be scheduled with children for 3.75 hours or less. This will be for a maximum of four (4) days per week, with the fifth (5th) day being reserved for home visits, make-up days, or meetings in conjunction with the Preschool Program. d. The Preschool employee shall not be scheduled, except for home visits of newly enrolled students from the beginning of the employee’s Christmas break to the first day of the second semester nor shall they be scheduled prior to September or after May, except for home visits.

WORK YEAR AND WORK DAY. All mentor teachers will work the full contractual year for teachers. They will perform mentor teacher duties for an additional 16 days or their equivalent and will complete all agreed upon assignments. This time will be established and monitored by the Educational Services Office in consultation with each individual mentor teacher. During the regular work year the mentor teacher will not be away from his/her regular teaching assignment for district-related functions more than 40% of the work year.
