Accident Prevention Health and Safety. The Centre and the agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in the Centre in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Centre agrees to accept as a member of its Accident Prevention Health Safety Committee at least one (1) representative selected or appointed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit employees. Such Committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards institute means of improving health and safety programs and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health. The Centre agrees to co-operate reasonably in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfill its functions. Meetings shall be held every second month or more frequently at the call of the chair if required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. Any representative appointed or selected in accordance with hereof shall serve for a term of one calendar year from the date of appointment, which may be renewed for further periods of one year. Time off for such to attend meetings of the Accident Prevention Health Safety Committee in accordance with the foregoing shall be granted and time so spent attending such meetings shall be deemed to be work time for which the shall be paid by the Centre at his regular or premium rate as may be applicable. The Union agrees to endeavour to obtain the full co-operation of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices. Pregnant employees may request to be transferred from their current duties if, in the professional opinion of the employee's physician, the pregnancy may be at risk. If such a transfer is not feasible, the pregnant employee, if she so will be granted an unpaid leave of absence before commencement of the pregnancy referred to in Article Where the Centre identifies high risk areas where employees are exposed to Hepatitis the Centre will provide, at no cost to the employees, a Hepatitis B vaccine. Time off for such representative(s) to attend meeting of the Accident Prevention Health & Safety Committee in accordance with the foregoing shall be granted and any representative(s) attending such meetings during their regular scheduled hours of work shall not lose regular earnings as a result of such attendance. It is understood that employees shall be paid in accordance with the Ontario Health and Safety Act and that employees who are asked to attend meetings shall be paid for all hours at their appropriate rate of pay. g) The Union agrees to endeavour to obtain a full co-operation of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices.
Accident Prevention Health and Safety. 28.01 The Employer and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in the home in order to prevent injury and illness. 28.02 A Joint Health and Safety Committee shall be continued and/or established with at least 50% of its membership representative of the various bargaining units and of employees who are not represented by Unions and who do not exercise managerial functions. 28.03 The Committee will assist wherever possible in the promotion of safety work practices, identify and communicate to employees and the Employer potential hazards, and recommended methods of improving accident prevention programs. 28.04 The Committee shall meet at least bi-monthly, and more frequently as the need arises. Scheduled time spent in such meetings is to be considered time worked. Minutes shall be taken of all meetings and copies shall be provided to the Employer and the Union 28.05 One or more Committee-appointed representative(s) shall make monthly inspections of the workplace and equipment and shall report to the Joint Health and Safety Committee the results of their inspection. 28.06 In the event of serious or potentially serious injury, a Committee-appointed representative shall be notified as soon as possible and shall investigate and report as soon as possible to the Committee and Employer on the nature and causes of the accident and recommend corrective action. 28.07 Furthermore, a Union Committee representative must be notified of an inspection by a Ministry of Labour inspector and shall have the right to accompany him on his inspection. 28.08 Scheduled time spent in all such activities shall be considered as time worked 28.09 The Joint Health and Safety Committee and the representatives thereof shall have reasonable access to the annual summary of data from the WSIB relating to the number of work accident fatalities, the number of lost workday cases, the number of non-fatal cases that required medical aid without lost workdays, the incidence of occupational injuries, and such other data, as the Board may decide to disclose to the Union. 28.10 The Union agrees to endeavour to obtain the full co-operation of its membership in the observation of all safety rules and practices. 28.11 The Employer will use its best efforts to make all affected direct care employees aware of residents who have serious infectious diseases.
