Association Dues and Fees. ‌ 5.1 Subject to the provisions of section 17 of the Labour Relations Code, it is a condition of employment of all Members of the Bargaining Unit to complete an authorization form providing for the deduction from salary of such fees, dues and assessments as the Association may require. Upon receipt of written authorization signed by the Member, the University will deduct monthly the amount of such fees, dues, and assessments from the salary payable to Members and remit such fees, dues, and assessments to the Association within ten (10) days of the end of each month. 5.2 All fees, dues and assessments payable by Members of the Bargaining Unit to the Association on the date that this Agreement comes into force will continue until the Association provides the University with a notice of revised fees, dues and assessments. 5.3 Where a Member of the Bargaining Unit has delivered written notice to the Association to remit fees, dues and assessments payable to the Association to the Faculty Association Scholarship Fund and the Association has so advised the University’s designate in writing, the University will remit such fees, dues and assessments to the Faculty Association Scholarship Fund until directed otherwise by the Association. 5.4 Where the Association provides the University with written notice of revised fees, dues and assessments, the University will deduct the revised fees, dues and assessments in the pay period that begins thirty days after receipt of such notice.
Association Dues and Fees. 12.5.1 Any unit member who is a member of the Association or who has applied for membership may sign and deliver to the District an assignment authorizing deduction of Association membership dues, fees and general assessments of the Association. The amount of such dues, fees and assessments shall be established by the Association. Any changes in dues deductions or deductions for Association-related benefits shall be made only through the Association office by written authorization. 12.5.3 Upon appropriate written authorization from the unit member, the District shall deduct from the pay warrant of the unit member and make appropriate remittances for annuities, credit union, savings, bonds, charitable donations, or any other plans or programs approved by the Association and the Board of Trustees.

Members: The District will deduct in ten or twelve equal installments from the salaries of each employee, as designated and when authorized by the individual employee, the annual membership fees for the United Teaching Profession (BEA, MEA-MFT, NEA/AFT). When authorization is received after the first pay pe- riod, deductions will be prorated so that the full amount authorized is deducted in equal payments by the end of the school year. B. Representation Fee: Under the terms stated in the individual teaching contract, the District will in a like manner deduct from the salaries of each employee who does not become a member of the Association, the Association’s representation fee as a contribution to the costs of Association representation. The following language shall be included in the individual teaching contract beginning with the 2003-04 school year: The District shall notify the Association President when it receives a notice by an employee that he or she has declined to pay the representation fee.

Association Dues and Fees. A. Bus drivers shall, as a condition of employment, pay either Association membership dues or a service fee in an amount established by the Association. The Board and Association agree that the payroll deduction of membership dues and/or service fees is required as a condition of the collective bargaining agreement. The Board will accordingly deduct the amounts designated by the Association through payroll deduction pursuant to the authority set forth in M.C.L.A. 408.477. The Board will deduct one-tenth (1/10th) of such dues and contributions from the first regular salary check of the bus driver each month for ten (10) months beginning in September and ending in June of each year. Deductions for bus drivers employed after the commencement of the school year will be appropriately prorated. In cases when a deduction is made that duplicates a payment that an employee has already made to the Association, or in any other situation where a refund is demanded by an employee, said refunds are not the responsibility of the Employer once the Employer has remitted all deducted monies to the Association. B. With respect to all sums deducted by the Board pursuant to authorization of the employee, whether for membership dues or service fee, the Board agrees promptly to remit to the Association those sums collected, along with a list of the names, respective amounts deducted for Employees and, if the dues, assessment, contribution and/or service fee was determined wholly or in part by a percentage formula, the wage amount used to calculate the respective dues, assessment, contribution or service fee. C. Employees not joining the Association shall pay a Service Fee to the Association as determined in accordance with the MEA Policy and Procedures Regarding Objections to Political-Ideological Expenditures. The remedies and procedures for contesting the level of Service Fee set forth in this policy shall be exclusive, and unless and until the procedures set forth therein have been availed of and exhausted, all other administrative and judicial procedures shall be barred. D. In the event of any legal action against the Employer because of its compliance with this Article, the Association agrees to defend such action, at its own expense and through its own counsel, and agrees to indemnify and save the Board and individual Board members harmless against any and all claims, demands, losses, costs and expenses arising out of or incurred directly or indirectly because of the appli...
