Declared Holidays. Every day declared by the President, the Governor, the County Superintendent, or the Governing Board as a day of public fast, thanksgiving, or holiday and requiring the closing of the facilities, shall be additional holidays provided that the President, or the Governor also makes such dates paid holidays for federal or state employees.

When the holidays occur during the employee's vacation, the employee shall be entitled to one (1) extra day's pay, or one (1) extra day vacation at his choice. In order to qualify for holiday pay, the employee must satisfy the eligibility requirements set out in the Employment Standards Act (2000). Subject to the foregoing, an employee who is laid off will receive any declared holidays which occur within ten (10) days of the day of lay- off, except for those holidays which fall in December when eligibility shall be within seven (7) days of lay-off.
Declared Holidays. Those employees who are employed as Fire Prevention, Training or Emergency Planning personnel are entitled to a holiday with pay on the following Statutory Holidays: New Year's Day, B.C. In the event that one or more of the above named holidays occurs during the employee’s vacation, he shall be paid for the holiday in addition to his vacation pay, and be given an extra day off either at the begin- ning of his vacation period or at the end of it.
