Definition of Work Year. 7.01.1 The work year for Professional Staff Members shall consist of 200 days, as follows: 179 Student Days 2 Professional Staff Member Work/Record Days 3 Staff Development Days 1 Parent/Professional Staff Member Conference Day 15 Paid Holidays, including Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve Day, New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, and four (4) floating holidays.
7.01.2 The work year for Professional Staff Members doing the job description of a Counselor shall be:
A. The calendars as in 7.01.1.
B. Secondary and Intermediate counselors: 5 additional days.
C. Lead counselors: 10 additional days. Building principal and counselor will determine how the 10 additional days are allocated.
7.01.3 The work year for Professional Staff Members doing the job description of Librarian/Media Center shall be:
A. The calendars as in 7.01.1.
B. 10 additional days (one week before, one week after, the regular school year).
7.01.4 The work year for Professional Staff Members doing the job description of Resource Teacher shall be:
A. The calendars as in 7.01.1.
B. 10 additional days (one week before, one week after, the regular school year).
Definition of Work Year. Subd. 1. The fiscal year shall be from July 1 to June 30.
Subd. 2. The work year for individuals employed for less than 12 months shall be established on the basis of a specified number of days. Generally, this will include the school year plus a specified number of days distributed before the beginning of the school year and after the end of the school year.
Subd. 3. The school district reserves the right to adjust the work year of all office personnel.

3. The first day of spring break shall be the third Monday in March. School shall reopen the fourth Monday in March. If the fourth Monday in March is Easter Monday, school shall reopen on the Wednesday following the fourth Monday in March.

The work year for high school administrators may begin before August 1 to accommodate the number of work days. By June 1, administrators shall complete a district yearly work calendar identifying their positive work year schedule for the following school year. The administrator’s work year schedule shall be approved by his/her supervisor and may be modified by mutual agreement throughout the year. The administrator’s number of yearly workdays shall be determined by the number of days on the schedule as listed below.

a. Three (3) days shall be provided for teacher professional development according to the guidelines developed by the PRNTA Professional Development Committee.
b. One (1) day shall be provided for professional development including parent and teacher consultation on educational matters and/or educational change. This day will be jointly planned by the Board and PRNTA.
c. Two (2) half-days shall be provided for parent-teacher interviews.
d. Two (2) half-days shall be provided for report card preparation. These days shall be used to plan and prepare for student assessment and evaluation reports to parents.
5. A minimum of four (4) days of one (1) hour early dismissals shall be provided each year, for the purpose of facilitating parent-teacher interviews.
6. Teachers of Primary 1 (kindergarten) students shall be provided five (5) consecutive days after the opening day for phased-in Primary 1. The teacher may use these days for staged entrance and/or home visits during the school day.
7. The last day in the regular work year shall be an administrative day and no teacher shall be required to offer instruction. No students shall be required to be in attendance.
8. The first day in the regular work year shall be school opening day. Students shall be dismissed after two (2) hours of attendance.

The days in excess of 180 shall consist of six (6) full days of professional development, plus one (1) day of professional development wherein the agenda for the first half shall be established at the sole discretion of the administration and the second half shall be used at the teacher’s discretion. In 2021–2022 only, the in-school work year for teachers employed on a ten (10) month basis shall not exceed one hundred eighty-five (185) days. The days in excess of one hundred eighty (180) shall be allotted as in 2020–2021, except the number of full days of professional development shall be reduced to four (4). After 2021–2022, the in-school work year for teachers employed on a ten (10) month basis shall not exceed one hundred eighty-six (186) days. By June 1, UBA members shall complete a District yearly work calendar identifying their positive work year schedule for the following school year. The UBA member’s work year schedule shall be approved by the supervisor and may be modified throughout the year by mutual agreement. The UBA member’s number of yearly workdays shall be determined by the number of days on the schedule as listed below.
