Education & Assistance Fund a. The Employer shall contribute and remit such contributions to the Union’s Education & Assistance Fund as specified in Schedule “A” for each hour worked by each employee covered by this Agreement.
b. The Education & Assistance Fund shall be used by the Union to assist members in exercising their right to work and have access to job sites, to educate and instruct members in the competent practice of their trade, and to instruct specific members in labour relations.
c. The total amount owing shall be remitted monthly to the Union by the 15th of the month following the month for which the contributions were made. Contributions shall be itemized separately on the remittance form.
Education & Assistance Fund. The Board agrees to provide tuition reimbursement to employees for courses completed at local accredited institutions of higher learning or post-secondary/vocational/technical centers under the following conditions:
1. To be eligible for tuition or registration reimbursement, courses must be a part of a formal program leading to a certificate, diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree and must strengthen job skills and improve effectiveness.
2. Approval by the responsible Bureau head or designee shall not be withheld arbitrarily. However, employees are encouraged to seek approval prior to enrollment in courses.
3. Employees seeking a certificate, diploma or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree shall be eligible for up to 12 credits per fiscal year. Reimbursement shall not exceed $100 per semester hour or the equivalent.
4. To obtain tuition reimbursement, the employee shall submit to the Administrative Director, Compensation Administration, or designee:
(a) the official transcript (with raised seal) indicating successful completion of the course(s) and the credits earned; and,
(b) verification from the accredited school, college or university of the tuition paid.
5. Request for tuition reimbursement must be submitted no later than three months after the term/semester during which the course was completed.
6. The total reimbursement program for the bargaining unit shall not exceed $15,000 per fiscal year and will be awarded to employees on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Education & Assistance Fund. The Employer shall monthly remit to the Union, by separate cheque, one cent (1¢) per hour worked for each employee in the Union’s bargaining unit. The remittance will record the number of hours worked by each employee each pay period.

c. The total amount owing shall be remitted monthly to the Union by the fifteenth (15th) of the month following the month for which the contributions were made. Contributions shall be recorded electronically and itemized separately.
Education & Assistance Fund. 18.01 The Employer shall contribute to the Union’s Education & Assistance Fund an amount as specified in Schedule “A” for each hour worked by each employee covered by this Agreement.
18.02 The Education and Assistance Fund shall be used by the Union to assist members in respect of all health and safety related training, and other skills training as might have relevance for their work for the Employer, and to instruct specific members in labour relations.
18.03 The total amount owing shall be remitted to the Union together with, and in the same manner as union dues, as described in Article 6.01.
Education & Assistance Fund a) The Employer shall contribute and remit fifteen ($0.15) cents per hour to the CLAC Education and Assistance Fund for each hour worked by each employee covered by this Agreement.
b) The Education and Assistance Fund shall be used by the Union to assist members in exercising their right to work and have access to job sites, to educate and instruct members in the competent practice of their trade, and to instruct specific members in labour relations.
c) The total amount owing shall be remitted monthly to the Union by the 15th of the month following the month for which the contributions were made. Contributions shall be itemized separately on the remittance form.
Education & Assistance Fund. 17.01 Each contractor shall contribute the amount outlined in Schedule “A” to the Education and Assistance (E&A) Fund for each hour worked by each employee covered by this Agreement and shall remit such contributions to the Union's Administrator as set out in Article 12. Each Employer agrees to cooperate with the Union when safety and related courses are made available to the members employed with the Employer. Likewise, Employers and employees will work and communicate together when training is required. In the event training is scheduled at any time between Monday to Saturday, it is understood such training is paid at the employee’s regular rate of pay but and is not part of the overtime calculation per Article 8. In the event that training must be scheduled on a Saturday it is understood that such Saturday training is not preferable for employees and the Employer will work with employees before scheduling such training. In the event Saturday training is necessary the Employer and employees will schedule such training mutually to accommodate the training needs and personal weekend commitments. Training will not occur on a Sunday. Paid training is agreed to be any training in which is a requirement or a request; of the Employer; for site access or to conduct work on a specific site; mandated by the construction industry or the province; or in which the Employer meets necessary quota or number requirements.

3. Prior approval by the responsible Bureau head or designee.
4. Employees seeking an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree shall be eligible for up to nine credits per fiscal year. Reimbursement shall not exceed $100 per semester hour or the equivalent.
5. To obtain tuition reimbursement, the employee shall submit to Compensation Administration:
(a) the official transcript (with raised seal) indicating successful completion of the course(s) with a grade of B or better and the credits earned; and,
(b) verification from the college or university of the tuition paid.
6. Request for tuition reimbursement must be submitted no later than three months after the term/semester during which the course was completed. This contract provision is effective upon ratification (December 10, 2014).
Education & Assistance Fund. 17.01 The Employer shall contribute the amount as specified in Schedule “A” for each hour worked by each employee covered by this Agreement and remit such contributions to the Union's Education & Assistance Fund.
17.02 The Education & Assistance Fund shall be used by the Union to assist members in exercising their right to work and have access to job sites, to educate and instruct members in the competent practice of their trade, and to instruct specific members in labour relations.
17.03 The total amount owing shall be remitted monthly to the Union by the fifteenth (15th) of the month following the month for which the contributions were made. Contributions shall be itemized separately on the remittance form.
Education & Assistance Fund. The Employer shall remit two cents ($0.02) per hour worked for each employee in the Union’s bargaining unit into the Union’s Education and Assistance Fund to a maximum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00) per year. The payment shall be made to the Union on the last full pay of the current year. The Union will deposit these education fund monies into a trusted Education Fund, the purpose of which is to pay for employee seminars and workshops, including wage loss payments, travel and accommodation costs. Such seminars and workshops will deal with topics such as:
a. Long Term Care issues affecting the Employer and employees;
b. Health and Safety Training; c. Instruction in Progressive Labour Relations practices.
