Educational Leaves. Extended educational leave without pay may be granted to any permanent employee for educational purposes. Such leave shall be granted for educational purposes which contribute to and enrich the employee's service to the Employer.
Educational Leaves. 18.11.1 An educational leave shall be defined as a leave of not less than eleven days and not greater than four months in duration.

Educational Leaves. 13 The District may authorize unpaid education leaves under the following conditions:
(a) Leaves shall be granted either for one semester (one-half year) or for one (1) full work 15 year.

41.01 Subject to the approval of the Employer, Educational Leave from duty for the purpose of taking advanced or supplementary courses of professional or technical training may be granted in accordance with this Article to employees with a minimum of ten (10) months' service.
41.02 The Employer may waive the minimum service requirement in any case where it appears to be in the best interest of the service to do so.
41.03 No period of Educational Leave shall exceed twelve (12) consecutive months but the Employer may grant an extension of such leave.
41.04 Where an employee is granted Educational Leave, the Employer may require that employee to enter into an agreement to render where the Educational Leave is to be for a period of one year or less, a one year period of service to the department or agency following completion of the Educational Leave. Where the Educational leave is for a period of more than one year the period of service shall not exceed a period equal to the leave.
41.05 If an employee who has received Educational Leave fails to complete his service obligation, he shall pay to the Province an amount which bears the same ratio to the cost to the Province of his training as the uncompleted obligation bears to his total obligation under Article 41.04.
41.06 Where leave of absence to take courses or training that requires an employee to be absent from his work for a continuous period exceeding one (1) month the Employer may grant Educational Leave to the employee and may approve the payment of:
(a) the employee's salary or a part thereof;
(b) tuition, where the claim is supported by a receipt;
(c) travel expenses to and from the place of training once during the period of Educational Leave in accordance with the Travel Policy; and
(d) other agreed expenses.
41.07 An employee shall be granted a tuition refund, or part thereof, upon successful completion of courses or training that do not require him/her to be absent from work, or require only brief absences, provided the employee has received prior approval from the Employer. The claim must be supported by a receipt.
41.08 Where an employee takes courses or training the Employer may authorize for that employee:
(a) leave of absence with pay for the purpose of writing examinations;
(b) payment of the expenses of writing examinations; and
(c) payment of travelling expenses in accordance with Travel Policy.

Educational Leaves. A teacher will have the right to one-half day of paid leave for the purpose of writing a university examination or defending a thesis or dissertation during the school day to a maximum of two examinations or defenses during any school year or for the purpose of attending the teacher’s own convocation during the school day.
Educational Leaves. Captains may be excused without loss of pay to attend a conference, a seminar, a workshop or other function of a similar nature that is intended to (A) improve, maintain or upgrade the Captain’s certifications, skills and professional ability and (B) benefit the Department. If a request is denied, the Captain will be given a reason, in writing, for the denial.
Educational Leaves. Employees may be granted educational leaves of absence at the discretion of the District. Requests for these leaves should be submitted in writing to the Employee Services Director for consideration.
Educational Leaves. Leave for educational purposes shall be granted upon request. Employees shall make themselves available for work between semesters.
Educational Leaves a) If, in connection with continuing and further education pursuant to item 2 above, the need for a full-time or parttime educational leave arises, such leaves should be granted unless special reasons create obstacles.
b) An employee who has worked for at least three years and who has worked for the same employer for the past two years shall be entitled to educational leaves pursuant to Arts .12- 11 and 12-14 of the Working Environment Act.
c) The consideration of requests for educational leaves shall assess all employees or groups of employees according to the same criteria. This also applies to any financial support.
d) Requests for educational leaves must be submitted as early as possible and the reply should be given within three weeks. Denials must be reasoned.
e) When a request is granted, a written agreement should be signed before the leave commences. The agreement should include, inter alia, the following: • the duration of the leave • the date of resumption of work at the expiry of the leave, and • the date of resumption of work in the event that the education is not completed If no such agreement has been concluded, the following applies: When an employee returns to the enterprise after completing an education of a duration of up to two years, the employe, when practically feasible, is entitled to work that is of equal value to the work he/she performed before the education commenced. Employees who have taken educational leave and who interrupt their education are entitled to return to work at the enterprise as soon as practically feasible.
I. Payment of wages
1. Wages should be paid monthly, unless otherwise agreed by the parties at the enterprise. An agreement may be made for payment on account during the wage period. Transitioning to monthly wages require a transitional period. In the transitional period, the previous rules apply. When wages are paid monthly, it is necessary to extend the time between the date of expiry of the pay period and the date of payment. The parties to the collective agreement at enterprise should therefore endeavor to find practical solutions that satisfy this need. If payday falls on a bank holiday, payment shall be effective on the immediately preceding business day. The enterprise and shop stewards may agree that wage payments be made at other times.
