Emergency Leave of Absence. The Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority to any employee requesting such emergency leave. All such requests must be in writing to the Immediate Non-Union Supervisor and are to be replied to in writing, and are to be approved by the Chief Administrative Officer or designate before such leave is taken.
Emergency Leave of Absence. 1. In those cases when a Flight Attendant needs time off to attend to an important personal matter, other than death of a family member which is set forth in subsection D, above, she/he shall, to the extent feasible, use her/his Seniority to bid a schedule which has those days free from Duty.
2. When this is impossible because the need for the absence is not known when monthly schedules are being bid or finalized (e.g. serious family illness, personal emergency or birth of a child), or she/he has insufficient seniority to bid for the days off, the Flight Attendant may be granted unpaid emergency leave up to a maximum of five (5) days, at the sole discretion of the Company. The Flight Attendant must use any accrued vacation which shall run concurrently with the leave and she/he will be considered to be on vacation. A Flight Attendant who does not have any vacation remaining in that year will be considered to be on a Personal Leave.
3. Emergency leave shall be requested by submitting a "Request for Leave of Absence" form to the Director of Inflight as soon as practicable after the Flight Attendant becomes aware of the need for the leave. The leave may be delayed where the request for leave of absence does not allow sufficient time for the Company to cover the Flight Attendant’s duty assignment without interruption in flight operations. In the event extended time is needed, the Flight Attendant shall use accrued vacation with the approval of the Company or be placed on Personal Leave.
Emergency Leave of Absence. 19.01 An employee under Employment Standards Act is entitled to take up to ten (10) unpaid leave of absence days to attend to a personal illness, injury or medical emergency in respect to an employees spouse, parent, step parent, xxxxxx parent, same sex partner, child, step child, xxxxxx child, grandparent, step grandparent, step grandchild, brother, sister or a relative of the employee who is dependent on the employee for care or assistance. Such leave shall be deemed to have been taken in entire days.
Emergency Leave of Absence. When an emergency occurs in an employee’s family, an employee may be allowed up to one day off with pay to deal with the emergency. It shall be the responsibility of the appropriate Manager or designate to authorize or withhold payment for such day off.
Emergency Leave of Absence. (ELA)
a. When a death or critical illness (impending death) In the event of death or the life-threatening illness of a member of occurs in an employee's immediate family, the employee will receive up to forty (40) hours off at straight time pay, depending upon the employee’s needs. For the purposes of this policy, the immediate family includes:
i. The employee's: spouse, children, step children, parents,
b. While no more than two (2) instances or a total of eighty (80) hours of ELA time will be paid per individual family member for the period of employment, additional time off without pay will be made available to employees covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act for a qualifying family member with a serious health condition, if requested. Otherwise, such additional time off without pay is within the discretion of an employee’s supervisor.
c. ELA time is not charged against an employee's sick bank, nor counted as an absence for disciplinary purposes. ELA time does not disqualify an employee from the Attendance Recognition Program.
d. The Company will provide positive space on-line passes for travel to attend the funeral/memorial service and to return from downline locations. The Company will also assist in other travel arrangements as needed.
e. A reasonable amount of unpaid time off will be allowed in the case of the death or life threatening illness of an employee’s spouse’s grandparents.
Emergency Leave of Absence. An employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay upon request to his supervisor, subject to the approval of the Department Head, for short-term absences necessitated by unusual circumstances or emergencies. Leaves of absence without pay may not exceed seven (7) days. An employee who intends to be absent or to request leave without pay shall report the reason therefore to his supervisor prior to the date of absence when possible and in no case later than midshift on the first day of absence.

b. Emergency in an employee’s family" shall be defined as being totally unforeseen and requiring immediate attention as well as:
(1) being potentially life threatening to:
(a) a family member as defined in Article 6.05; or
(b) someone living permanently in the employee’s home
(2) or, requiring immediate relocation of those living permanently in the employee’s dwelling due to the dwelling becoming uninhabitable. In such case up to three (3) hours will be payable.
Emergency Leave of Absence. 17.1. (a)(i) Once during the term of this Agreement, upon written application to the Employer and the Union, a regular employee who has been employed in the building for five (5) years or more shall be granted a leave of absence for illness or injury not to exceed six (6) months.

Emergency Leave of Absence. Upon the written request of the employee, the Company will give consideration to granting an unpaid leave of absence, up to ninety (90) days in any one (1) calendar year, for a personal emergency. Such decision will be at the sole discretion of the company and will not be subject to the grievance/arbitration procedure.
