Absence Days. 8.1 Absences may be granted by the School for personal reasons without pay or any other form of compensation to the Teacher. Absence Days. At the beginning of every school year, each teacher will be credited with twelve (12) days to be used for teacher's absence (personal day or personal illness including pregnancy disability or personal injury). Medical documentation may be required for absences of more than three (3) consecutive days or those immediately prior to or after a holiday recess break. Absences of up to 3 days in succession may be granted in advance by the Superintendent providing that they are not immediately prior to or after a holiday. Any unused Absence Days within the school year will accumulate in an extended sick leave bank, up to a maximum of 60 days and may only be used for personal illness or injury. Early notification of absences is helpful to all parties in the smooth operation of the teaching and learning environment. For expected absences, notification shall be given at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance whenever possible. For unexpected absences, notification shall be given at least two (2) hours in advance of the time the employee normally reports for work, whenever possible.
Absence Days. If work schedules for those employees normally assigned as nine-month employees necessitates work to be completed during the summer, said employees shall be granted one (1) additional reimbursable absence day for every twenty (20) days worked between the last day of classes for students in Spring and the first day of classes in Fall.

The School agrees to exercise its discretion regarding such leaves in a fair and equitable manner. 8.02 Miscellaneous leaves of absence, other than referred to in Article 8.01, shall be granted by the School without loss of salary and without deduction of sick leave credits for the purposes of: (a) Writing University or Professional examinations to a maximum of two (2) days per year; (b) Attending either a Teacher’s own graduation or the graduation of the Teacher’s spouse or child to a maximum of one (1) day per graduation. Graduation means graduation with a university or equivalent or higher degree or certificate. (c) Attending Court, either as a person charged or as a party in any action in which the Teacher's presence is required by law and arrangements cannot be made at night to a maximum of two (2) days. Any subsequent days may be granted at the discretion of the School; (d) Compassionate leave during the period of Xxxxx at the time of the death of a Teacher’s immediate family which includes parents, spouse, children, brothers and sisters. In the event a Teacher feels obligated to attend with their spouse while such spouse is sitting Xxxxx for his parent, the Teacher may request from the Director of Education, in writing, compassionate leave for such purpose and such leave shall be granted. In the case of grandparents, spouses of children, and grandchildren, the leave shall be three (3) days. This leave applies equally to Teachers who are not members of the Jewish faith. (e) Non-attendance as ordered by the Medical Officer of Health or the School medical advisor; (f) Jury duty or duty as a witness in any Court to which he has been summoned in any proceedings to which he is not a party or one of the persons charged provided that the Teacher pays to the School any fees exclusive of travelling allowances and living expenses received as a juror or witness; (g) Special circumstances for reasons approved by the School.   • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

  • ABSENCE FROM DUTY Unless a provision of this agreement states otherwise (e.g. sick leave), an employee not attending for duty will lose their pay for the actual time of such non- attendance.

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • ABSENCE FROM WORK In case an employee is unavoidably kept from work he will not be discriminated against. An employee detained from work on account of sickness or for any other good cause must, if possible, advise the Xxxxxxx prior to the commencement of his/her shift.

  • REAPPOINTMENT AFTER ABSENCE DUE TO CHILDCARE 16.1 Where an employee resigns from a permanent position with the employer to care for pre-school children, the employer is committed, upon application from the employee, to make every reasonable endeavour to re-employ that person where a comparable and suitable position exists within four years of the resignation, providing that the person has the necessary skills to fill the vacancy competently; then the person under these provisions shall be appointed in preference to any other applicant for the position. 16.2 Absence for childcare reasons will interrupt service but not break it. The period of absence will not count as service for the purpose of sick leave, annual leave, retiring leave or gratuities, long service leave or any other leave entitlements.

  • Leave Days 1. Each full-time teacher employed under regular contract shall be entitled to an annual allotment of thirteen (13) leave days. Such allotment shall be credited the first day of each school year and unused days shall be accumulated as sick leave to a total of one hundred eighty-two and one half (182.5) days. The teacher’s accumulated sick days may be used following use of 13 days and a doctor’s note with approval by Superintendent. Certificated staff with an accumulation of 182.5 days of accumulated sick leave shall be compensated at the end of each school year at the rate of the current daily certified substitute pay per each unused day above the 182.5 day accumulation. Such payments shall be made in July of each year. This money shall be placed in the teacher’s 403(b). If school corporation revenue in the Education Fund exceeds expenditures in the calendar year by an amount between $6,000 and $24,000, then the amount of that excess (minus compensation pay), not to exceed $18,000, shall be made available to fund a buyback of unused accumulated sick leave days on the following terms: Teachers shall have the option of selling up to ten (10) days, per round, of unused accumulated sick leave back to the school corporation at the daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. This option will be offered to teachers in accordance with their seniority (total years of continuous service at Western Xxxxx) in the school corporation, with the teacher with the most seniority having priority to exercise the option, and it shall be available only to the extent of the total amount of money available as set forth above. Payment for these days shall be deposited in the individual teacher’s 403(b) plan, and upon payment those sick leave days shall no longer be available to the selling teacher. Said days must have been earned while the teacher has been employed in the school corporation. To participate in the program a teacher must maintain at all times a minimum balance of one hundred (100) days of accumulated sick leave. This method shall continue in successive rounds until the available money remaining less than daily rate of pay for a certified substitute teacher. If more money is available to the school corporation than is needed to fund the buy-backs exercised under this program, the school corporation may retain such money in its Education Fund. After selling a cumulative amount of eighty (80) days, teachers will receive a guaranteed buyback of any leave days over one hundred (100) remaining at the end of each school year. 2. A teacher employed under regular contract for only a portion of the school year shall be entitled to a proportional number of days (beginning the day they return to full-time status), and unused days shall be accumulative as specified herein. 3. Teachers shall be permitted to take one-half (1/2) day of paid leave which shall be recorded as one-half (1/2) day of paid leave. 4. Certificated staff may, in any academic year, utilize up to five (5) accumulated sick days for emergency family illness or injury (providing a written doctor’s note). The staff member must first use all 13 leave days and submit the request to the superintendent. These five days may be used for the medical emergency of only a spouse, children, mother, father, mother-in-law or father-in-law.

  • Sick Leave Days Subject to paragraphs C9.

  • Leave of Absence With Pay 1. A leave of absence with pay shall be granted to any employee who serves on a jury or as a witness for the federal government, the State of Nevada, or a political subdivision thereof. The employee shall be paid his/her regular salary while on court leave and retain any witness or jury duty fees, when summoned for jury duty or serving as a witness in any case. When an employee, serving in his/her official capacity as a County employee and as part of his/her required duties, serves as a witness in any case, he shall not receive witness fees. Per diem and transportation costs may be paid by the requesting jurisdiction, considering such variables as whether or not the case is a criminal or civil matter, whether it is in State or out-of-state, the length of time the employee is required to stay away from the job and who receives ultimate benefit from the County employee’s testimony. Court leave shall not be charged to any employee’s annual leave balance. 2. When it is impractical for a registered voter to vote before or after his/her normal working hours, an employee will be granted sufficient time to vote.

  • Prepaid Leave Permanent Employees will be entitled to take a leave of absence financed through a salary deferral arrangement in accordance with the provisions of the Prepaid Leave Plan set out in Article 44 of this Agreement.

  • Absence of Control It is the intent of the parties to this Agreement that in no event shall the Purchasers, by reason of any of the Transaction Documents, be deemed to control, directly or indirectly, the Company, and the Purchasers shall not exercise, or be deemed to exercise, directly or indirectly, a controlling influence over the management or policies of the Company.
