HEALTH CARE APPOINTMENTS. Where an employee cannot schedule a health care appointment outside of the employee’s regular working hours, the employee will give as much advance notice as possible, and will be given time off with pay necessary to attend the appointment. In such cases, the employee will attempt to schedule the appointment so as to minimize disruption to the employee’s work day.

HEALTH CARE APPOINTMENTS. This article does not apply to part-time employees working twenty-four (24) hours or less. Where an employee cannot schedule health care appointments outside of their scheduled working hours, the employee shall be given time off without pay to attend such appointments. The employee may be allowed to make up any time lost, at the request of the employee, at a time mutually agreeable between the employee and their supervisor. The employee shall attempt to schedule the appointments so as to minimize the disruption of the employee's working day.

All members, subject to the provisions of this Article, shall receive pay at their earning rate for the following statutory holidays provided the Employer, at its discretion, may determine the precise date on which the holidays are honoured:- New Year's Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day Civic Holiday Presidents Day In addition, each member is entitled to one floating holiday to be taken, subject to the work requirements of the section, at the member's request. Such request should be made by the employee at least one week in advance of the specific holiday. A member is eligible for holiday pay as described above if present on regular scheduled shift immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday unless any absence is for reason satisfactory to the Employer. When the President's Day falls on a day which is not normally a working day, an alternate day will be specified by the Employer. When one of the above holidays falls on the regular day off or during vacation of any member, another day off shall be arranged by the agreement of the individual and the Supervisor. When one of the above holidays falls during sick leave or an approved leave of absence, no entitlement will accrue to the member. Members who are required to work on a holiday under shall receive their regular pay plus overtime as defined in Article section for all hours worked on that statutory holiday. For all cases, the method of reimbursement should be agreed to by the member and the Supervisor prior to the work being undertaken on a holiday. If time off is the agreed-upon method of reimbursement, such entitlement must be used during that same or following three months. HEALTH CARE APPOINTMENTS. (a) Every effort shall be made by employees to schedule personal medical or dental appointments outside of their scheduled work hours. Where it is not possible to do so, an employee may attend to such appointments during working hours, provided that permission is received from the employee’s supervisor. (b) Each permanent full-time employee will be provided with seven (7) hours without loss of pay per fiscal year, which may be used for medical, dental or other health professional appointments. (c) This appointment allotment is not cumulative from year to year. (d) Upon exhaustion of this allotment, all subsequent medical, dental or other health professional appointments shall be without pay or the employee will be allowed to use any accumulated credits, other than sick leave credits, to maintain their pay.

HEALTH CARE APPOINTMENTS. AnAt the reasonable discretion of the department head and upon written notice of at least three (3) working days in advance, an employee shall be entitled to reasonable time off with pay, not to exceed two hours, for necessary medicalwithout loss of pay pursuant to this Article to attend six (6) health care appointments annually (excluding dental) with each health care appointment not exceeding two hours, which cannot, with reasonable practicality, be scheduled outside of the normal workday. In the event an employee must schedule a medical appointment during the workday it should be scheduled contiguous to the beginning or the end of the workday. Except in the case of an emergency, an employee shall inform his immediate supervisor, in writing, of any such appointment with five work days advanced notice, and time off shall be granted or denied (with reasons specified) in writing. The scheduling of such time off shall be subject to the reasonable needs of the Town, but approval of any request shall not be unreasonably withheld. Excused time off to attend health care appointments in excess of that provided above shall be charged to sick leave pursuant to Article VI (3) (iii). Employees shall attempt to schedule “health care appointments” at either the beginning or end of the workday. For purposes of this Agreement “health care appointments” are defined as pre-scheduled appointments with the employee’s physician not otherwise requiring the employee to be absent from work due to illness or disability.
