Holiday/Compensatory Time. All sworn members of the Cincinnati Police Department shall receive on January 1 of each year one hundred twenty (120) hours of compensatory time plus eight (8) hours or any equivalent portion thereof, for any special holiday or partial holiday. The authority to grant special holidays, including days of mourning, shall rest with the City Manager. However, if the City Manager grants a special holiday to members of AFSCME, Ohio Council 8 or the Cincinnati Fire Fighters Local 48, it shall also be granted to all sworn members of the Cincinnati Police Department. Each sworn member of the Cincinnati Police Department shall have the option in June of each year to sell back up to eighty (80) hours of the member's earned and accumulated compensatory time. The City has the option to buy back more compensatory time in September if the member is in agreement. In addition, any sworn member having twenty (20) years of service credit or more with the City of Cincinnati or the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund shall have a one time option to declare a period of five consecutive years in each of which years they can sell back up to 120 hours of the member’s earned and accumulated compensatory/holiday time. Such payment shall be made on or before the second paycheck of January of each eligible year. All police recruits will, upon graduation from the police academy, automatically receive sixty (60) hours of compensatory time. If for any reason a police officer on probationary status leaves the employment of the City of Cincinnati after receiving the sixty (60) hours of compensatory time, then such former police officer on probationary status will receive payment for the pro rata share of compensatory time earned at the rate of 3.33 hours for each full work week completed after the date of hire as a recruit. If an officer (other than police recruit) uses 120 hours compensatory time before March 31st and then retires or is separated for any reason before March 31st, the officer shall reimburse the City for 90 hours of compensatory time. If such officer retires or is separated before June 30th, the officer shall reimburse the City for 60 hours of compensatory time. If such officer retires or is separated before September 30th, the officer shall reimburse the City for 30 hours of compensatory time. Holiday/Compensatory Time. An individual earns Holiday Compensatory Time when his/her regular day off falls on a holiday. Holiday Compensatory Time is recorded in the Accounting Office. Holiday Compensatory Time is earned at the rate of straight time and the time off is given at the rate of straight time. Employees may accumulate a maximum of what can be earned in a one-year period (currently 104 hours). Those employees that have the maximum accrual of 104 hours in holiday comp will be automatically paid for any additional hours earned in excess of the maximum. If an employee terminates employment with the District before having used up his/her Holiday Compensatory Time, he/she shall be paid for it. Employees may cash-out Holiday Compensation at the time of separation or retirement but may not cash-out Holiday Compensation prior to separation or retirement.

Holiday/Compensatory Time. A member who works a holiday under this article may elect to accrue compensatory time off at the appropriate rate in lieu of receipt of monetary payments pursuant to this Article.

  • Holiday Compensation 1. Those employees working a five-day per week schedule with Saturdays and Sundays as normal days off shall receive cash payment for eight (8) hours per holiday subject to the conditions of this article.

  • Overtime/Compensatory Time Overtime shall be paid for all hours worked in excess of the regularly scheduled workday. Compensatory time may be earned, in lieu of overtime, for overtime hours or hours earned under 18.7 or 18.8 of this article. In no case will compensatory time be allowed, in lieu of overtime once the employee has reached the compensatory time limit in 18.10.

  • HOLIDAY COMPENSATION FOR TIME WORKED 259. Employees required by their respective appointing officers to work on any of the above designated or observed holidays, excepting Fridays observed as holidays in lieu of holidays falling on Saturday, shall be paid extra compensation of one additional day's pay at time- and-one-half the usual rate (i.e. 12 hours pay for 8 hours worked) or a proportionate amount for less than 8 hours worked. At the employee's request and with the approval of the appointing officer, an employee may be granted compensatory time off in lieu of paid overtime pursuant to the provisions herein. 260. Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.

  • Maximum Compensatory Time Employees may accumulate no more than one hundred and sixty (160) hours of compensatory time.

  • Compensatory Time Off a. An employee in the bargaining unit shall have the option to elect to take compensatory time off in lieu of cash compensation for overtime work. Compensatory time off shall be granted at the appropriate rate of overtime in accordance with Section 6 of this Article (Overtime).

  • Compensatory Time A Bargaining Unit member may choose to take compensatory time in lieu of overtime compensation if such choice is indicated during the tour of duty in which the overtime is worked. Compensatory time shall be credited to the Bargaining Unit member and accumulated at the rate of one and one-half (1 ½) hours for each overtime hour worked. Each Bargaining Unit member’s compensatory time bank shall be limited in accumulation to a maximum number of two hundred forty (240) hours. Once a Bargaining Unit member has reached the maximum hours of compensatory time as compensation for overtime hours worked, all additional overtime will be paid. The Bargaining Unit member may choose to carry over any balance into the following year. Any balance of compensatory time carried over into the following year shall count towards the two hundred forty (240) hour cap in that year. Compensatory time off must be taken at a time agreeable to the Department and the Bargaining Unit member. Approval for compensatory time off shall not be unreasonably withheld. Compensatory time off should be requested as far in advance as possible but no later than forty eight (48) hours in advance. When Bargaining Unit members request compensatory time off at least 45 calendar days in advance, the employer will, within five (5) working days of the request being made, notify the member whether or not his/her request has been approved. Approval for compensatory time shall not be unreasonably withheld. As soon as the employer notifies the member that his/her request has been approved, and if the employer determines that the shift will be filled, the employer will post the overtime assignment to cover the member’s request. If there are no volunteers to cover this need for overtime, and if the employer determines that the shift will be filled, a mandate to cover the shift will occur no less than seven (7) calendar days in advance of the beginning of the shift that needs to be covered. The employee being mandated will have the lowest number of overtime hours worked and will be notified by a supervisor.   • Use of Compensatory Time An employee must have the appropriate supervisor's prior approval to use accumulated compensatory time.

  • Compensatory Time for Overtime Eligible Employees A. Compensatory Time Eligibility Compensatory time off may be earned in lieu of cash only when an institution and the employee agree. Compensatory time must be granted at the rate of one and one half (1-1/2) hours of compensatory time for each hour of overtime worked.
