Forty-Hour Work Week. Each permanent, full-time employee is eligible for vacation with pay in accordance with his length of service based upon a calendar year as follows: A. Any employee with continuous service of at least one (1) year, but less than five (5) years, shall receive vacation with pay of two (2) basic workweeks. B. Beginning with the year in which an employee will reach his fifth (5th) anniversary of continuous service, through the year the employee will reach his twelfth (12th) anniversary of continuous service, he shall receive vacation with pay of three (3) basic workweeks. C. Beginning with the year in which an employee will reach his thirteenth (13th) year of continuous service through the year the employee will reach his nineteenth (19th) anniversary of continuous service, he shall receive Vacation with pay of four (4) basic work weeks. D. Beginning with the year in which an employee will reach his twentieth (20th) year of continuous service and there after that employee shall receive vacation with pay of five (5) basic workweeks. E. When a City-observed holiday falls within the employee's scheduled vacation period, the employee shall be granted an additional day off with pay.

For the purposes of this Agreement, the “work week” is defined as the 168 hours commencing at 12:00 a.m. Sunday and running to midnight the following Saturday. Forty-Hour Work Week. 10.17.2.1 Five Days, Eight Hour Shifts 10.17.2.1.1 For members who work a five/eight shift, all work performed in excess of forty (40) hours within a week or eight (8) hours within a twenty-four-hour period shall be paid at one and one-half (1.5) times the basic rate of pay. 10.17.2.1.2 See Article 30 No Days Off (NDO) 10.17.2.2 Four days, 10-Hour Shifts 10.17.2.2.1 A mutually agreeable alternative to the normal five (5) day, eight (8) hour work week shall be four (4) work days preceded or followed by three (3) consecutive days off. The member is guaranteed four (4) ten (10) hour days within the work week provided he/she is ready, willing and able to work, unless suspended, on lay-off or on leave without pay. The four-day work week shall consist of four (4) ten (10) hour work days. Hours worked on a normal workday shall be paid in accordance with the Agreement, based on a ten (10) hour work day. Accordingly, members shall receive overtime compensation for all hours exceeding ten (10) hours in work status per day. 10.17.2.2.2 A designated holiday will be observed on the calendar day for which it falls for all shift assigned employees. For routine work week employees assigned to the 4/10 alternative, if the holiday falls on the employee’s first or second regularly scheduled day off, it will be observed on the last regular scheduled day of work in that week. If the holiday falls on the employee’s third regularly scheduled day off, it shall be observed on the following day. 10.17.2.2.3 A member who works a 4/10 schedule shall be paid overtime for all hours worked in excess of ten (10) hours in a day. 10.17.2.2.4 See Article 30 – No Days Off (NDO)
Forty-Hour Work Week. When it is deemed necessary or appropriate by the Employer, the Employer may ask employees to volunteer to work a forty (40) hour work week. An employee who volunteers to do so will receive overtime pay at time and one‐half (1½) only for hours worked over forty (40) hours in a week. An employee may return to the overtime provision defined in the Basic Work Period with written notice at least one (1) week before the posting of the work schedule.

Should the City Manager establish an additional holiday or a special holiday for the non-union employees, then members covered by this Agreement shall also receive the benefit of that holiday. D. Holidays, which occur during vacation leave or sick leave, shall not be charged against vacation or accumulated sick leave. E. Whenever an employee is absent from work and not in paid status on the workday before a holiday and/or the workday after a holiday, he shall not be paid for the holiday. F. The personal leave day may be taken at the employee's discretion, provided he has received the department head's prior approval; which will not be unreasonably withheld. Requests for use of a personal leave day shall be made in writing to the department head. If, because of an unusual workload, an employee has been unable to take a personal leave day, it may be carried over to the next year. Not more than two (2) personal leave days may be accumulated. Personal leave days may not be taken during a probationary period. G. Employees required to work on a holiday shall be given the opportunity to take another day off within the thirty (30) day period following the holiday.
Forty-Hour Work Week. The Employer may solicit volunteers to work a forty-hour workweek by posting a sign-up sheet in the respective department. The Employer has the sole discretion to identify positions and/or departments in which a forty-hour workweek is appropriate, at which time the Unit President shall be notified. The Employer shall not utilize this provision to replace thirty-five (35) hour bargaining unit positions. The Unit President shall receive a copy of the posting once it is complete with all signatures and prior to the implementation of the respective forty-hour work week. The Employer may not identify more than 50% of the workforce in any department for forty-hour work week positions. In the event that the number of volunteers exceeds the number of identified positions, employees shall be selected on the basis of seniority within the county based upon time in the position. An employee who volunteers for such an assignment must work the forty-hour per week schedule for a minimum of twelve months unless the criteria for the work week has changed, at which time the twelve months shall be reduced upon mutual agreement with the employer and the employee.

  • Work Week The work week will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday and end at 11:59 p.m. the following Saturday.

  • Standard Work Week The standard work week for full-time employees covered by this Agreement shall be forty (40) hours, exclusive of the time allotted for meal periods, consisting of five (5) consecutive work days followed by two (2) consecutive days off. The week shall commence with the shift that includes 12:01 A.M. Sunday of each calendar week and end at the start of the shift that includes 12:00 midnight the following Saturday. The Employer retains the right to modify the work schedules to meet operational needs.

  • Work Day and Work Week The normal work day shall consist of up to 8 hours of work within a 24-hour period. The normal work week shall consist of up to 40 hours of work within a 7-day period. The Employer may define the work week on an individual, department, shift or facility basis in accordance with Federal and State law.

  • Normal Work Week The normal work week shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37 1/2) hours, and the normal daily hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7 1/2) hours, exclusive of a meal period. The normal work week shall be Monday through Friday and the normal workday shall be scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

  • Basic Work Week ‌ a) The basic work week of an employee working full- time shall be forty (40) hours consisting of five eight hour days; b) Daily hours of work shall be consecutive with the exception of rest and meal periods. No split shifts shall be worked; c) Employees shall not work longer than their regular, scheduled work day, unless requested to do so by Management; in which event, additional time will be paid at applicable regular or overtime rates. Employees are required to leave the store as soon as it is reasonable to do so.

  • Regular Work Week The regular work week shall be any five (5) consecutive days, Sunday through Saturday, for a total regular work week of forty (40) working hours, subject to the applicable premiums where provided for in this Agreement. Notwithstanding the above, employees may volunteer to work schedules that fall outside of the regular work week of Sunday through Saturday and may do so, upon approval by the Company, and with no penalty cost to the Company, but with applicable premiums as provided for in this Agreement.

The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. (b) (applicable to part-time employees only) The normal or standard work day shall be seven and one-half (7½) hours per day and the normal or standard full- time work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one- half (37½) hours per week except in those hospitals where agreements already provide a normal or standard work day of less than seven and one-half hours and a normal or standard full-time work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours. (Those Hospitals with the lesser required hours shall reflect in the salary rates a pro-rata lesser amount compared with salaries for other Hospitals based on the ratio that the standard or normal hours work at the Hospital concerned are to thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours and shall appropriately reflect such hours in this article.) Part-time employees shall be entitled to overtime pay at the rate of time and one-half their regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of the normal or standard work day or in excess of the normal or standard full-time work week. The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. (c) Where the Hospital and the Union agree, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Labour, other arrangements regarding hours of work may be entered into between parties on a local level with respect to tours beyond the normal or standard work day in accordance with the provisions set out in Article 25.01 of the collective agreement.

  • Hour Shifts When the Employer deems it necessary to implement a twelve (12) hour work day, affected employees shall be notified pursuant to Clause 14.05. The following Clauses shall be replaced or added to the Collective Agreement where appropriate.
