Holiday Rotation. Vacation requests filed in accordance with 17.2 for the week including Thanksgiving and the weeks including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day shall be granted on a rotating basis. The rotation will begin with the most senior person and shall proceed in that order until all staff wishing to take vacation leave during those holiday periods have done so. No employee shall be granted more than one (1) of the aforementioned weeks in a single year, unless there are no other interested employees and the department is able to grant the request based on operational needs.
Holiday Rotation. Holidays will be scheduled off on a rotational basis subject to hours of operation, patient care needs and staffing considerations on the work unit. Staff and management on the work unit are responsible for developing a mutually agreeable, equitable holiday rotation plan for the work unit. Staff or management may request the assistance of a union delegate/organizer and Employee and Labor Relations consultant, if needed.
Holiday Rotation. The Hospital shall use its best efforts, including an opportunity for nurses to express their preferences on a sign-up sheet, not to require a nurse to work more than two (2) holidays per calendar year, nor to work the same major holidays in two (2) consecutive years. A casual nurse must work two (2) major holidays per year. Holidays for purposes of this sub-section shall be defined as: any holiday as defined in this contract with applicable shift differentials applied.
Holiday Rotation. Drivers shall be assigned to work on holidays on a rotating basis by inverse order of seniority. It is the intent of the parties that the holidays off will be equally distributed among the drivers.
Holiday Rotation. (a) In addition to their regular work, all full-time, part-time, and per diem employees will work a rotating holiday commitment for the holidays listed in Article 19.
1. Employees will rotate within their specific programs. There will be a quarterly holiday rotation list. Holiday rotation requests shall be made in accordance with the weekend scheduling procedure set forth in Article 12.1(b).
(b) The maximum holiday rotation requirement shall be four (4) holidays per year per full-time employee, and three (3) holidays per year for part-time and two (2) for per diem employees. For all employees holidays will be split into two different categories and employees may be scheduled for one (1) holiday in each category in a calendar year (such days to count toward rotation above): Summer Winter Memorial Day Thanksgiving Independence Day Christmas Labor Day New Year’s Day Nothing in this section is intended to prevent an employee from volunteering to work more than the required holidays.
(c) The holiday rotation employee will be on duty from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If there are two (2) or more cases requiring an 8:30 a.m. visit (i.e., diabetics), the employee may commence work at 8:00 a.m., with prior supervisory approval.
(d) Employees working holidays shall be paid in accordance with Article 22.
Holiday Rotation. It is agreed that holiday work shall be rotated by the Hospital and that a regular 18 full-time and regular part-time core nurse who is required to work on a holiday 19 shall receive time and one-half the nurse’s regular rate of pay for hours worked 20 as described in Appendix A. Part-time non-core and casual nurses working a 21 recognized holiday shall be compensated at the rate of double time for all hours 22 worked; all other nurses working a recognized holiday shall be paid at the rate of 23 time and one-half for all hours worked.

Holiday Rotation. Holiday work shall be rotated equitably among nurses within the designated work area and shift. Volunteers to work will be sought before holidays are assigned. Trades among staff will not be unreasonably denied. Each department will develop unit specific Holiday rotation guidelines with staff input and management approval provided. Management will make reasonable efforts to ensure that no nurse is required to work the same holiday two consecutive years. Holiday rotation issues that are unresolved at the unit level should be referred to the appropriate Director, the Human Resources department, and up the chain of command.
Holiday Rotation a. Holidays off will be rotated as equally as possible to afford each bargaining unit employee a fair share of the holidays off.
b. No bargaining unit employee will be required to work more than two (2) of the FAHC holidays during the November-January time period in any given year. Bonus for Not Taking CTO Vacations During June, July & August Bargaining unit employees who are interested in being considered for the Summer CTO bonus program must notify their manager by August 15th of the prior year. Before the beginning of Seniority Sign-Up, managers will inform bargaining unit employees if they will be eligible to participate in the Summer CTO bonus program. A bargaining unit employee who meets the following requirements will receive a bonus up to $1500. The bargaining unit employee must: • Have been informed by their manager that they are eligible to participate in the Summer CTO bonus program • Not take more than two (2) consecutive scheduled shifts as CTO in June, July and August • Not take more than a total of three (3) days of CTO in June, July and August In addition: • This $1500 bonus is based on bargaining unit employees who are authorized to work 72 or more hours per pay period • Bargaining unit employees who are authorized to work less than 72 hours per pay period will have the CTO Bonus payout pro rated, based on an 80-hour pay period and their authorized hours per pay period as of June 1. • For every ten (10) bargaining unit FTEs in a unit or clinic, the Hospital will offer one (1) FTE for summer CTO bonus eligibility; however, based on unusual circumstances, the Hospital and the VFNHP can mutually agree to increase the number of bargaining unit employees of a particular unit or clinic who are eligible for the CTO Bonus program. Examples of unusual circumstances include but are not limited to high unit vacancy rate, large number of nurses needing precepting on a unit, and/or nurses out on leave on a unit. Per Article 20A of this agreement, during periods of low census during June, July and August, a nurse may be asked to take time off. If a nurse manager or designee sends a bargaining unit employee home, and that bargaining unit employee is on the CTO summer bonus program, those lost hours will not be counted against the total CTO taken during these months. The payment for the vacation time will be made with the first pay period in September.
