The Company agrees to pay the difference between straight time wages and payment received for any Employee who is subpoenaed as a Crown Witness and who is not a party to the action. Payment will be for hours he would have normally worked during his service as a witness. Should a bereavement occur in an Employee’s immediate family, members of his household, common law partners, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, mother-in-law, father- in-law, or grandchildren, he may request a bereavement leave and he shall be granted such time off with pay as is reasonable under the circumstances to enable him to look after funeral arrangements or to attend the funeral. The general standard of bereavement leave shall be three (3) working days, however, the extent of such leave shall be at the discretion of the Company, after consultation with the Union, taking into consideration the time of the bereavement in relation to his regular time off, the distance to be traveled, etc. Employees asked to be pallbearers at a funeral shall be granted such time off with pay as is reasonable to attend the funeral, not however to exceed one (1)

  • Paid Bereavement Leave An employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave with pay as follows:

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Jury Duty Leave A regular, limited-term or probationary employee who is called for jury duty or for examination for jury duty shall be compensated at the employee's regular rate of pay for those hours of absence due to the jury duty which occur during the employee's regularly scheduled working hours provided the employee deposits the employee's fees for such hours of jury duty, exclusive of mileage, with the County Treasurer. Fees for jury duty performed during hours other than regularly scheduled working hours may be retained by the employee. Any hours worked beyond the regularly scheduled workday shall be subject to the workweek and overtime provisions (Article I). An employee may request a change in regularly scheduled working hours to a Monday through Friday day shift for the duration of such jury duty. Such requests shall be granted if practicable.

  • Funeral and Bereavement Leave 19.01 In the event of death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be granted leave of absence with pay, with consideration given to travel time for attending the funeral. The length of absence shall be up to three (3) days at the discretion of the Employer. The term ‘immediate family’ shall mean: spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, step-mother, step-father, step-son, step-daughter, step-brother, step-sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, and grandchildren, or any relative living in the household of the employee. In the event of the demise of an aunt or uncle, nephew or niece, an employee will be granted one (1) day leave of absence with pay to attend the funeral. In the case of death of spouse, father, mother, child, step-parent or step-child, the employee shall be entitled to, up to one (1) weeks leave of absence with pay.

  • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE In the event of a death in the immediate family (husband, wife, father, mother, sister, son, daughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and step-parents), an employee on request will be granted the necessary time off up to three (3) days without loss of pay for attendance at or to make the necessary arrangements for the funeral. It is understoodthat such time off from regular work for which compensation is being paid include but not extend beyond the day after burial. Sundays, holidays, vacations or other authorized leaves of absence shall not be considered working days. Additional days without pay may be granted upon request to and approval by the Company. The employee must have been regularly scheduled to work on the days for which is absent and being reimbursed. In the event of a death of an employee's grandfather, grandmother, or grandchild, an employee, upon request, will be granted up to three (3) days leave without loss of pay for attendance at the funeral. It is understood that such time off from regular scheduled work for which compensation is being paid may include but not extend beyond the day after the burial. Sundays, holidays, vacations or other authorized leaves of absence shall not considered working days. which they are entitled to Bereavement Leave shall receive eight ours at the employee's straight time hourly rate for each day for which compensation paid. If an employee is scheduled for ten hours work on a day to which is entitled to Bereavement Leave, the employee shall receive ten (IO) hours pay at the appropriate straight time hourly rate. An employee has the pro period and who is required to as a juror in Court proceedings or who is subpoenaed as a Crown Witness be paid for each day of such absence from work at eight hours of the employee's straight time regular hourly rate of pay, provided turns over to the Company the attendance fees (excluding allowable expenses related thereto) received from the Court for jury duty or appearance as a Crown Witness, and further provided reports for work on any working day is not required to sit on a jury or remain in the courtroom. Such pay shall not exceed a total of thirty (30) days in any calendar year. In the event an employee otherwise entitled to Jury Duty or Crown Witness reimbursement shall have been scheduled for a ten (IO)hour day on the in question, the employee shall receive ten hours at the employee's straight time hourly rate of pay subject to the other requirements of this section.

  • Civic Duty Leave A. Employees summoned for jury duty will be granted a leave of absence with pay for time lost from their regular work schedule while on said jury duty upon presentation of the appropriate summons to the department head by the employee.
