Jury Duty or Witness the Employer shall grant leave of absence from work, with pay, to every employee who is required: (a) to serve on a jury; or (b) to attend as a witness called or subpoenaed in any proceeding held: (i) in or under the authority of a court of justice, or board of adjudication, or before a Grand Jury; (ii) before a court, judge or coroner, adjudicator or adjudication board; (iii) before a Legislative Council, Legislative Assembly or any Committee thereof that is authorized by law to compel the attendance of witnesses before it; (iv) before an Arbitrator or Umpire or a person or body of persons authorized by law to make an inquiry and to compel the attendance of witnesses before it. Such employee shall be paid the difference between his regular pay and the amount received as a Juror or as a witness excluding travelling, meals, and other expenses upon presentation of a certificate of attendance for jury and witness duty. If an employee is required to report on any day for jury duty but is not required to serve for the entire day, such employee shall then report to work.

Jury Duty or Witness a. A teacher called for jury duty or as a witness for a school related matter as determined by the Superintendent shall be paid his/her regular pay and will pay to the corporation his/her jury duty and/or witness earnings minus the expenses.
Jury Duty or Witness. The Employer shall grant leave of absence from work to an employee who: (a) is required to serve on a jury; or (b) is subpoenaed as a witness before a Court of Justice, a Coroner's Inquest, or a Court of Inquiry. Jury Duty or Witness. An employee will be granted time off due to jury duty or in order to act as a witness in any inquest or court proceedings. If said employee receives any payment for such duties, he/she shall reimburse the Company with any equivalent amount up to the maximum amount received by him/her in this capacity for any day or fraction of day served and this, in compensation for the salary advanced to him/her notwithstanding his/her absence from work. The above mentioned conditions do not apply to an employee involved personally in his/her own trial or court proceedings.

Jury Duty or Witness a) Permanent full-time employees who are required to serve as jurors or witnesses in any court, shall be granted leave of absence for this purpose. Such leave shall not constitute a break in service for the calculation of seniority or sick leave credits. Upon completion of the jury or witness service such employees shall present to their Department Head a certificate satisfactory to the Region showing the period of such service. A coroner’s inquest shall be considered as a court for purposes of this Article. Such employees will be paid their full salary or wage for the period of such jury or witness service provided they shall deposit with the Commissioner of Human Resources Assistant or Designate the full amount of compensation received, excluding mileage and travelling expense, and an official receipt therefore. b) When employees are required to appear in court as a witness on behalf of the Region while they are off on leave or vacation, they shall be paid their full regular salary or wages for the period of time they are required to attend court, or will be given time off in lieu upon their return from leave or vacation, to be used within ninety (90) calendar days of their return to work. c) Employees shall also be compensated for the applicable mileage allowance and parking expenses incurred while attending court on the Region’s behalf while on leave. d) Leave is defined for the purpose of this article as those absences where the employee is off work and is not being paid by the Region. e) Employees who do not return from leave shall be paid the salary or wages, mileage allowance and parking expenses, owing for the period of witness service at the time of their termination.
Jury Duty or Witness. The employee shall be entitled to leave without loss of pay for any period of time in which the employees are required to serve as a juror pursuant to the dictates of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 234, Section 1B and Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 234A, Section 37, as it is applicable to municipal employees and employers. Employees shall further be entitled to leave without pay for any period of time in which the employee is required to appear as a witness in any court proceedings pursuant to a summons wherein the employee is not a party to same; however, if the proceeding arises out of litigation involving the Cambridge School Committee, the City of Cambridge, its agents, servants or employees, the employee shall be entitled to leave without loss of pay for any and all periods of time lost for appearance as a witness in any court proceeding.
Jury Duty or Witness. 20.01 An employee will be granted time off to serve on a jury or as a subpoenaed witness in any inquest or court proceedings. 20.02 The Employer shall pay the said employee the difference between her fee as a juror or witness and her earnings for any regularly scheduled time lost. It is the employee’s responsibility to come to work for any regularly scheduled shifts when she is not actually required for jury duty or to be present in court as a witness. 20.03 The above-mentioned conditions do not apply to an employee involved personally in her own trial or court proceedings.
