LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. 11.01.01 Any leave of absence granted in accordance with Company regulations and which is not provided for in this Collective Agreement shall be subject to the conditions of Article 11.02.
11.01.02 The approval of a leave of absence will not result in any changes to approved vacation dates.
11.01.03 An employee returning from a leave of absence shall return to the location and classification held immediately prior to the commencement of the leave, subject to Article 10 and except as provided for in Article 11.01.05.
11.01.04 An employee who engages in other employment while on leave of absence shall be terminated unless the employee has received specific permission for such from both the Company and the Union Headquarters in writing. Requests for permission to engage in other employment while on leave of absence shall be made in writing to the Company and to Union Headquarters.
11.01.05 An employee who has a transfer, a change of status or a change of classification confirmed while on a Personal Leave of Absence will be required to terminate their leave early and report to their new location and/or for their new status or for their new classification. An employee who wishes to continue their absence will decline the offer in accordance with the provisions of Article 12.04.03.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. 5.1.1 Leaves of Absence Reimbursed by the Union
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. 11.01.01 An employee returning from a leave of absence shall return to the classification held immediately prior to the commencement of the leave subject to Article 10.
11.01.02 Unless otherwise specified, Company service and seniority shall continue to accrue.
11.01.03 An employee who engages in other employment on leave of absence shall be terminated unless the employee has received specific permission from the Company in writing. Requests for permission to engage in other employment while on leave of absence shall be made in writing to the Company.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. The Board is required by law, upon the written request of a support teacher to grant a leave of absence for a period of not more than two consecutive school years where illness or other disability is the reason for the request. In addition, the Board is permitted, at its discretion, to grant a leave of absence upon the written request of a support teacher for educational, professional or other purposes. In exercising this discretion hereafter, the Board will pursue the general policy outlined below. A leave of absence shall be granted upon the written request of a support teacher, where illness or other disability is not the reason for the request, only upon the following conditions:
a. The support teacher shall have been in the service of the Board for a minimum of two
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. A. The Board may, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, grant a leave of absence for the purposes of professional improvement, professional travel or for other professional reasons not to exceed two (2) consecutive years. Request for such leave of absence must be submitted in writing a minimum of sixty (60) days in advance of proposed effective date stating the reason for the request and shall include the beginning date and ending date of proposed leave. A long term leave of absence may be granted only at the beginning and ending date to correspond with the beginning and ending of a school year. Leave of absence for the above reasons cannot be granted unless the work of the individual can be absorbed by existing staff. Individuals shall not be compensated while on leave of absence.
B. The Board shall grant a leave of absence for a specific period of time where illness or other disability is the reason. Request for such leave of absence must be submitted in writing as soon as is reasonably possible prior to the leave of absence indicating effective date of beginning and ending date of leave of absence. The period of time shall not exceed two (2) consecutive years. Ending date of such leave of absence shall correspond with end of semester or end of school year. Verification of illness or disability for leave of absence is required by the attending physician in a written statement to the Superintendent. Individuals shall not be compensated while on above mentioned leave of absence.
C. A leave of absence shall not be granted beyond the ending of the contract period for the employee.
D. Such employee shall inform the Superintendent of the desire to continue/discontinue such leave for the next semester by April 1, if the leave is to commence, continue or discontinue in September and by December 1 if the leave is to commence in January.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. An employee desiring a leave of absence must make written application to the Human Resources Department stating the reason for such leave. It is understood that leaves will not be granted to take up employment with another Company. All employees on leave of absence shall assume the cost of the Company social benefits program if they wish such benefits continued. Seniority will accumulate during such leaves.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. For the purpose of this Agreement, a "leave of absence" is an authorization for an employee to be absent from work for a definite period of time which has been approved in advance by the Employer.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. 1. An employee, with benefits, shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay for up to one
(1) day per year for the following:
i. To attend an employee’s own graduation or a graduation ceremony of an employee's child at high school or a recognized post-secondary educational institute. This leave shall be provided when the ceremony is held during the employee's regular hours of work.
ii. To attend their formal hearing to become a Canadian citizen (also applicable to employees without benefits if previously scheduled to work).
iii. To attend the birth or adoption of an employee's grandchild within one (1) week of the birth or adoption.
iv. To attend court about an employee's dependent child where the court requires the attendance of the parent (also applicable to employees without benefits if previously scheduled to work).
v. To allow an employee a maximum of two (2) days per year to attend to an ill spouse and/or ill parent.
2. The Board may grant leave of absence without pay for other reasons. Such leave shall be available as shown below. The Board shall not unreasonably deny these leaves:
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. (a) The Company, acting reasonably may grant a leave of absence without pay for a legitimate reason upon fifteen (15) calendar days advance notice to the General Manager, clearly stating the reason(s) for the request and the proposed duration.
(b) The Company will also grant a leave of absence without pay for a personal family reason or emergency in accordance with the ESA.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE - GENERAL. 21.1 For each day that an Employee is absent on approved leave, the hours of work for the purposes of such entitlements shall be taken as 7 hours. Where an alternative arrangement of days and hours is worked leave shall be debited on the basis of the actual hours to be worked on the day of the leave.
