Leave of Absence - Union. The City will consider a written request for the necessary and reasonable time off, up to a maximum of two weeks annually, without discrimination or loss of seniority rights and without pay, to not more than one employee annually designated by the Union to attend a labor convention or serve in any capacity on other official Union business. Length of time off and reason must be specified. During the period of absence, the employee shall not engage in gainful employment. Failure to comply with this provision shall result in the discharge of the employee involved.
Leave of Absence - Union. (a) The Company, upon receiving four (4) weeks' notice in writing from the Business Manager of delegate of the Union, agrees to grant leave of absence without pay to not more than one
(1) employee for full-time service with the Union. Such leave of absence is not to exceed thirty-seven (37) months at a time, unless there is mutual agreement to an extension.
(b) The Company, upon receiving two (2) weeks' notice in writing from the Business Manager or delegate of the Union, agrees to grant leave of absence without pay to Union Stewards or representatives of the members for the purpose of attending to Union business. Such leaves of absence shall not exceed two (2) weeks' duration, nor shall they exceed one (1) member at any one time unless otherwise mutually agreed.

Leave of Absence - Union. The Company shall, on application from the Union, grant an un- limited leave of absence, without pay, to not more than one (1) employee of the Company at one time who has been designated as a representative of the International Union, District Council or the local Union, subject to the following conditions:
(a) That the Union give at least two (2) weeks written notice to the Company designating the employee for whom such leave of absence is requested; and
(b) That the employee so designated, on returning to employment with the Company shall retain the seniority accumulated by him.
Leave of Absence - Union. An employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union shall be granted a leave of absence without loss of seniority for a period of one (1) year. Such leave shall be renewed for a further one year period upon request. Such employee shall receive his/her pay and benefits, if requested, as provided for in this agreement, but, the Union shall reimburse the Health Centre for all pay and benefits during the period of absence.
Leave of Absence - Union. (a) Upon written notice of two (2) weeks and subject to Employer operational safety requirements, the Employer will grant leave of absence with pay to one
(1) Employee nominated by the Union to perform any business of the Union, in order that they may carry out their duties on behalf of the Union. Seniority for the individuals on leave will continue to accrue as per their current status and hours of work during this leave.
(b) Time Spent on Union Business for Employees for Union-related leaves of absence will be reimbursed by the Union.
Leave of Absence - Union. The Employer shall grant leaves of absence to employees to attend Union Conventions, Seminars, Education Classes or other Union business. The Union agrees that such leave will not unduly affect the proper operations of the Nursing Home. In requesting such leave of absence, the Union must give twenty-one days clear notice to the Employer to be confirmed by the Union in writing. Employees on such leave of absence will be paid by the Employer who will be reimbursed by the Union for the amount paid to the employees. While on unpaid union leave of up to thirty (30) days, employees will be maintained on normal pay and benefits (including pension) and the Union shall fully reimburse the Employer for wages, statutory benefits and and Pension, but would not include Health and Welfare and Weekly Indemnity premiums (if applicable). Upon application by the Union writing, the Nursing Home will give reasonable consideration to a request for leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to a full-time Union office. It is understood that not more than one employee in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Such leave, if granted, shall be for a period of one calendar year from the date of appointment unless extended for a further specific period by agreement of the parties. Seniority and service shall accumulate during such leave to a maximum provided, if any, under the provisions of the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment, one (1) month in advance, of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence. It is agreed that for the purpose of Workers’ coverage, such employees are deemed to be employed by the Union.
Leave of Absence - Union. Up to one (1) Executive Officer of the Union employed by the Employer shall be permitted one (1) day of unpaid leave per month to attend the Union’s regularly scheduled Executive Board meeting. The Union will provide the Employer with the dates of all Executive Board meetings at least fourteen (14) calendar days in advance of such meetings. Officers of the Union employed by the Employer who request unpaid leave of absence for Union business for any other reason shall provide at least 24-hours’ notice of such a request. Such requests will be granted unless the Company, in its discretion, is unable to grant a request for Union leave. In this event, the Company will immediately notify the Union to arrange for a mutually agreeable alternative time or day for such leave.
Leave of Absence - Union. Up to one (1) Executive Officer of the Union employed by the Employer shall be permitted one (1) day of unpaid leave per month to attend the Union’s regularly scheduled Executive Board meeting. The Union will provide the Employer with the dates of all Executive Board meetings at least seven (7) calendar days in advance of such meetings. Officers of the Union employed by the Employer who request unpaid leave of absence for Union business for any other reason shall provide at least 24-hours’ notice of such a request. Such requests will be granted unless the Company, in its discretion, is unable to grant a request for Union leave. In this event, the Company will immediately notify the Union to arrange for a mutually agreeable alternative time or day for such leave. One Officer of the Union employed by the Employer shall be permitted up to a cumulative total of six (6) days of unpaid leave each calendar year which can be used to attend up to two (2) out of town ATU conferences or trainings per calendar year. In order to utilize this leave, the Union must provide the Employer with at least thirty (30) calendar days prior notice of the need for leave, and the Union must provide the Employer with documentation to demonstrate the leave is needed for an out of town ATU conference or training.
Leave of Absence - Union. (a) Employees who have been selected by the Union to attend Union conventions or conferences, or attend to other Union business, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay by the Company so long as no more than two persons from the bargaining unit are on such leave of absence at any one time. The Union business agent shall notify the Company in writing, not less than 21 calendar days prior to the start of the leave of absence of the name of the member requiring the leave.
(b) It is agreed that such leaves of absence shall not exceed five days in aggregate for each calendar year. The five days may be increased by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Union.
(c) The Employer shall pay lost wages for up to two (2) stewards to attend annual union educational seminars and the union shall reimburse the Employer the full amount of wages paid to such employees.
