Middle and High Schools. The principal must notify the superintendent or designee of all violations of this policy and recommend appropriate consequences. In making a recommendation, the principal must provide an assessment of whether any availa- ble services, such as school counseling, an al- ternative school, or substance abuse programs would assist the student and whether any ser- vices should be part of the consequences. The superintendent or designee must approve any consequences for violation of this policy, in- cluding any recommendations for suspension or expulsion. Principals must have the parent and student sign a random drug testing form and a copy will be main- tained at the school and at LCS Central Services. Possession or Use Authorities will confiscate any alcohol or drugs or synthetic stimulants/cannabinoids in possession of the student. In addition to possible suspension, the school official will immediately notify the parent/guardian and law enforcement authorities. Students will be referred to the Student Assistance Program (SAP). First Offense: Up to ten days suspension and conference with the parent. Second Offense: Ten days suspension and recommended for suspension for the remainder of the year. Selling or Possession with the Purpose of Selling: First Offense: Ten days suspension and recommended for suspension for the remainder of the year.

Middle and High Schools. 11.2.1 High School Class Size Limits With exceptions noted for music ensembles and supervisories, high school classes shall have a limit of 28 students per class. Physical Education classes shall have a limit of 31 students per class. Driver Education - to be determined by State Education Department time requirements, facilities, the scheduling of classes, simulators and car groups.

Middle and High Schools. Certain extracurricular activities of a specialized nature, intensive demand, or long duration cannot be satisfactorily distributed in a routine manner. For these responsibilities the District shall pay an additional stipend, beyond the regular contract salary. Bargaining unit members assigned to these activities shall be entitled to extra remuneration only if they have discharged fully the responsibilities of all teachers as defined in the normal teaching day. Extra pay for extra services shall be limited to those activities which involve teaching and/or supervision of pupils. Exceptions to this policy shall be the assignment of department heads and directors of athletics which are administrative in nature. No bargaining unit member shall be assigned more than three remunerative extracurricular responsibilities during the school year. Remunerative extracurricular assignments shall be made annually by the governing board upon the recommendation of the building principal and district office administrative staff. The following responsibilities (Page 34) are recognized as extra-pay assignments and shall entitle the bargaining unit member so assigned to extra remuneration to be paid at the rate established.
Middle and High Schools. A fulltime SRO will be dedicated to middle and high schools. Schools include: Fredericton High School (“FHS”) (primary location on the south side of Fredericton), Xxxxxx Street Middle School, Xxxxx Xxxxxx Middle School, Xxx Xxxxx High School (“LHHS”) (primary location on the north side of Fredericton), Devon Middle School and Nashwaaksis Middle School.
