Modified Duty Program. AHS will exercise its best efforts to provide an assignment to workers with temporary injuries who are capable of performing modified duties for a period of up to ninety (90) days. If the employee’s condition is improving per the employee’s workers compensation doctor and is able to demonstrate that improvement relative to the expectations of the usual job duties, the modified duty shall be extended up to an additional ninety (90) days.

Modified Duty Program. The purpose of a Modified Duty Program is to get the occupationally injured employee back to work as safely and quickly as possible without causing further harm or injury. The keys to a successful program are 1) commitment on the part of the contractor to be creative and flexible in assigning work and 2) the willingness on the part of the employee to attempt the modified duty offered. Each contractor and subcontractor will work with the OCIP Administration Team in identifying modified duty work, document that the modified work to be offered is within the physical limitations outlined by the treating physician and coordinate the return of the injured employee back into the work place.
Modified Duty Program. The College reserves the right to establish a Modified Duty Program for employees who are injured on the job. This program is designed so that employees who are injured can return to gainful employment while recovering from their injury or illness. Any employee who fails to adhere to or who violates this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including discharge. All employees requesting medical assistance for a work related injury will be sent to a medical facility for treatment. If it is the examining doctor’s medical opinion that the employee is unable to return to their regular position, but is able to perform temporary modified duty, the doctor will provide the employee with a modified duty release to return to work. Prior to the employee returning to work he/she shall present the release in person to their supervisor or an individual so designated by the College. The College will assign temporary modified duty work, if available, in accordance with the recommendations of the doctor. The modified work assignment is the choice of the College, but may not be punitive in nature. Modified work can be in or out of bargaining unit. Modified duty does not permit “bumping” or loss of employment for another employee. The College may consult with Human Resources, the employee’s supervisor and the Union Xxxxxxx in reviewing cases for possible modified duty.
Modified Duty Program. It is the policy of St. Xxxxxx Health Services to consider providing a temporary work assignment to employees to accommodate most physical or mental limitations that are a result of a non-work related injury/illness. Modified duty is available only on a case by case basis with duration as appropriate, while an employee is unable to perform the essential functions of his/her regular job. This policy will not apply to any work related injury or illness for which the rights of the employee and the hospital are governed by Rhode Island Worker’s Compensation Law.
