Normal Work Day Week. For all Regular full-time employees in the City operation, unless otherwise provided, the normal work day and week will consist of: i Dock the regular work day for regular full-time employees shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours of work not including the meal period. These bids will not exceed thirty-one per (31%) of total Company drivers within the City operation without mutual agreement of the Union. These bids will not exceed twenty-nine per (29%) of total Company drivers within the City operation without mutual agreement of the Union. Employees working the 4/12 bids will have Saturday and Sunday as regular days off, plus one additional rotating day per current practice. It is mutually agreed that these bids will be posted on a voluntary basis and that no employee will be compelled to bid. Special bids may be put in place which amend the hours as defined above. Conditions must be negotiated and mutually agreed between the Company and the Union. Should the Company establish a Tuesday to Saturday shift, all employees will be eligible to bid. All employees hired after the date of ratification will be paid at the regular rate of pay. No regular employee hired prior to ratification will be compelled to work this shift. Normal Work Day Week a. The normal workday will be eight (8) or ten (10) hours per day with a guaranteed work week of forty (40) hours, contained in the seven (7) – day advance schedule issued each week. Employees shall not be guaranteed scheduled overtime. Overtime is to be limited to those tasks outside the normal schedule. The schedule is to be released seven (7) calendar days in advance. Management reserves the right to amend the work schedule as needed, and employees will be provided reasonable advance notice of such amendments. Shifts may not be shortened or eliminated unless an unforeseen storm or emergency event causes crews to be rotated on or off due to a lack of equipment or maximum sixteen (16) – hour DOT – shift ceiling is reached. b. The work schedule will normally provide for two (2) consecutive days off in any seven (7) – day period, except for when the schedule is rotated to balance employees required to work weekends as part of their regular schedule or when an employee is given an overtime assignment on his/her normal day off. Flextime may be used by providing a partial day off of the regular schedule to avoid an overtime situation. c. There shall be no splitting of the regular scheduled work shifts, except for those departments already working split shifts; and/or in response to adverse weather or other emergency conditions.

No split shifts shall be worked; c) Employees shall not work longer than their regular, scheduled work day, unless requested to do so by Management; in which event, additional time will be paid at applicable regular or overtime rates. Employees are required to leave the store as soon as it is reasonable to do so.

(b) (applicable to part-time employees only) The normal or standard work day shall be seven and one-half (7½) hours per day and the normal or standard full- time work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one- half (37½) hours per week except in those hospitals where agreements already provide a normal or standard work day of less than seven and one-half hours and a normal or standard full-time work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours. (Those Hospitals with the lesser required hours shall reflect in the salary rates a pro-rata lesser amount compared with salaries for other Hospitals based on the ratio that the standard or normal hours work at the Hospital concerned are to thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours and shall appropriately reflect such hours in this article.) Part-time employees shall be entitled to overtime pay at the rate of time and one-half their regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of the normal or standard work day or in excess of the normal or standard full-time work week. The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. (c) Where the Hospital and the Union agree, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Labour, other arrangements regarding hours of work may be entered into between parties on a local level with respect to tours beyond the normal or standard work day in accordance with the provisions set out in Article 25.01 of the collective agreement.
