Overtime & Holiday Pay. 223. A. For purposes of this section the three work units are: Day/Lost and Found, Processing, and Collections units. 224. B. Holiday sign-ups will be held 30 calendar days prior to each scheduled holiday. The holiday sign-ups will be based on classification seniority within units as defined in Section III.A. The employee shall have the right to refuse the holiday work should the need arise. SFMTA will make an effort to offer holiday work to the next senior volunteer. If that effort is unsuccessful, SFMTA may then assign the work based on inverse order of seniority.

All hours worked on Saturday shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-halfthe straight time rate and all hours worked on Sunday shall be paid for at the rate of double the straight time rate. Work performed on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion Day, first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and any such day a general holiday by the Federal or Provincial Governments and any day recognized in the Construction Industry shall be paid for at the rate of double the straight time rate, provided that where one of the holidays above mentioned falls during the work week, all hours worked by an employee in excess of ten (10) hours per shift and forty (40) straight time hours that week, and all hours worked on Saturday, shall be paid for at the rate of time and one-half the straight time rate. If one of the holidays in Paragraph A above falls on Sunday, it shall be on Monday. Work performed on Monday will be paid for at double the straight time hourly rate. If no work is performed on Monday no pay shall be required. In the event that one of the above holidays falls during the work week the Employer and the Local Union, by mutual consent, may designatean alternate day to be substituted for such holiday in order to provide, where possible, for a long weekend during the pay period. Vacation and statutory holiday pay shall be ten percent of total earnings of an employee, which shall be deemed to include the Employer’s obligation to make similar payments covering vacation and statutory holiday pay by applicable governmental orders or regulations. Where applicable governmentalorders or regulations require payment in excess of the percentages provided for herein, payment shall be made in accordance with such orders or regulations. Overtime & Holiday Pay. When an employee works on a holiday and the work shift begins on said holiday, the employee shall be paid at one and one-half times the regular rate for that entire shift. Non-suppression employees shall celebrate holidays and take time off according to the same schedule as City Hall employees and shall be paid on the basis of their regular work day.
