Personal Emergencies. 1. Death Within Family or Death of a Close Friend a. Teachers on regular school year employment will be entitled to a maximum of five (5) days of absence with pay in the event of the death of the teacher's spouse, child, or dependent of the immediate household. b. Teachers on regular school year employment will be entitled to a maximum of three (3) days of absence per year with pay in the event of the death of the teacher's parent; the teacher's spouse's parent; the teacher's sibling; or the teacher's grandfather, grandmother, or grandchild. c. Teachers on regular school year employment will be entitled to a maximum of one (1) day of absence per year with pay in the event of the death of a relative not specified in Article X, section H., 1. a. and 1. b., or of a close friend. d. In the unfortunate event that a teacher loses two or more individuals as defined in Article X, H., 1. a. or 1. b. above, in a single school year, that teacher may take five or three days, respectively, as defined in a or b above, for the purpose of funeral attendance and/or personal bereavement for each event. Only under these exigent circumstances shall such additional days for death within a family be automatically granted.

Personal Emergencies. Emergencies are defined as personal emergencies that require the individual employee's attention and are of such a nature that prior planning is not possible.
Personal Emergencies. Permanent employees may be eligible for a leave of absence with pay for personal emergencies so long as the employee informs Human Resources and/or their direct manager that they must leave due to a situation. This communication may happen via email, in person or by phone. Personal emergency leaves can be accommodated for a maximum of five (5) working days, such leave of absence for a personal emergency may be granted by the President and CEO or his/her designate and at the discretion of the Foundation President and CEO, leave may be extended to a maximum of ten (10) working days pending the individual situation. Within ten (10) calendar days of completing the leave of absence, in order for the employee to receive the leave with pay, the employee shall, in writing, provide a claim explaining the nature of the emergency situation which must be deemed reasonable to have prevented the employee from preforming their duties, to the Foundation in order to confirm the leave will be granted with pay. The party requesting the leave will remain on the payroll roster without interruption, and in good faith, until the claim has been approved by the Foundation. Any monies paid out under this provision that prove to have been paid in error and/or without reasonable explanation will be recovered in subsequent pay periods from the claimant’s entitlement.
Personal Emergencies a. Each day of absence for a personal emergency as provided in this Section shall be deducted from the short-term disability bank, as described in Section 1.a above, and shall be reported on the University’s official Time/Exception Report. b. A member of the bargaining unit shall be given a leave of absence with pay of not more than five (5) days in the event of the death of a member of the immediate family. “Immediate family” is defined as: spouse, OEP, parent, sibling, child, grandparent, parent-in-law, OEP’s parent, sibling-in-law, OEP’s sibling, child-in-law, OEP’s child, and grandchild or OEP’s grandchild. Other persons shall be considered members of the immediate family only if living in the immediate household.
Personal Emergencies. A Leave of Absence with pay for personal emergencies may be made in accordance with Foundation policies/practices. Such Leave of Absence for a personal emergency may be granted by the President or his/her designate. Within three (3) calendar days of completing the leave of absence the employee shall, in writing, provide an explanation of the emergency situation to the Foundation.
Personal Emergencies. Day leaves of absence without pay for personal emergencies may be granted by the Administrator or Director of Care to employees who require it upon giving a justifiable reason.
Personal Emergencies. Employees not regularly scheduled to work that are called back to work before or after regular working hours shall receive compensation for a minimum of two (2) hours pay or the amount of time worked at time and one-half whichever is greater. During emergency repairs or emergency circumstances, the Department Director may authorize premium pay for actual hours worked. The Department Director may grant Administrative Leave or the use of Flex Time from the normally scheduled workday to provide for rest periods following an after-hours emergency assignment.

Personal Emergencies. The employee assigned by the Chief to stand-by for criminal investigations shall receive an additional $200.00 per pay period as compensation for stand-by time served. Stand-by pay is limited to one bargaining unit member per pay period. If an employee assigned to stand-by is called to work outside of regular hours, that employee shall receive additional pay in accordance with the overtime provisions in this agreement.

Personal Emergencies. 19.5.1 Where a team member has a pressing domestic emergency that requires the team member’s immediate attention, a full-time team member may access up to 7.6 hours (pro rata for part-time team members) of their personal leave to attend to the emergency. An emergency includes situations such as a house fire, burst water pipes or a burglary at the team member’s primary residence and where the team member’s attendance is required to deal with emergency services or permit access by state emergency services members or emergency repair service personnel. 19.5.2 However an emergency does not include situations where a team member could otherwise deal with a situation before or after their rostered hours of work, or where it is simply a matter of convenience or preference for the team member to attend a situation. Where the emergency situation has been addressed the team member is required to attend work for the remainder of their shift, if practical. The team member will only have deducted from their personal leave the hours they were absent from work. 19.5.3 A team member may be required to provide evidence of the emergency that would satisfy a reasonable person of the emergency situation in order for payment to be made under this sub-clause. 19.5.4 A team member able to access leave under sub-clause 23.5 of this Agreement cannot also access leave under this clause for the same situation.
