SCHOOL ACTIVITY LEAVE. 1. Pursuant to California Labor Code Sections 230.7 and 230.8, as amended, unit employees who are parents of school-age children shall be allowed School Activity Leave from their jobs, with or without pay, as may be necessary to participate in school activities such as parent-teacher conferences, disciplinary matters, school programs and related events with their children.

SCHOOL ACTIVITY LEAVE. In accordance with the California Family-School Partnership Act, full-time or part-time employees may take time off from work to participate in their children’s school activities. An employee may take off up to 40 hours per school year, regardless of the number of children in the family. No more than eight (8) hours of this leave may be taken in any given month. Any employee, who is a parent, guardian, step-parent, xxxxxx parent, grandparent of, or a person who stands in loco parentis to a child of the age to attend kindergarten through grade 12 or a licensed child care provider, is eligible for this leave. Employees are required to use vacation, compensatory time off, or leave without pay and must provide the employee’s immediate supervisor with reasonable advance notice of anticipated absences for this leave. If both parents work for the same City Department at the same worksite, the parent who gives notice first will be granted the leave. The other parent may also take time off with approval from the supervisor. Supervisors may require that the employee provide documentation from the school or licensed child care provider verifying participation in the school activity on a particular date and time.
SCHOOL ACTIVITY LEAVE. Unit members may use compensatory time, vacation leave, personal necessity leave or unpaid leave for the purpose of attending their child’s/children’s school activities provided they have requested this time off in advance and have received their supervisor’s approval.

Prior to taking off, employee shall provide reasonable notice, defined as not less than five work days. Time taken under this article shall be without pay, except that accrued vacation time, personal necessity, or compensatory time may be used. At the sole discretion of the District, an employee may be required to provide written documentation from the school that the parent participated in school activities on a specific date and at a particular time.

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.
