Sick Leave During Vacation. Where an employee qualifies for sick leave due to illness or injury during the period of vacation time, sick leave shall displace vacation leave. An illness or injury occurring while the employee is on scheduled vacation time shall not be accepted as a claim for sick leave benefits unless recuperation involves hospitalization or confinement to bed by order of a medical practitioner. Written medical verification of such illness or injury and hospitalization or confinement must be provided to the Employer in order for the employee to be eligible for sick leave benefits.
Sick Leave During Vacation. If an employee becomes ill or injured while on vacation, that employee may use sick leave in lieu of vacation days for the period of such illness or injury. Additionally, the employee who needs to make funeral arrangements or to attend the funeral of an immediate family member may use Article 11.5 in lieu of vacation.
Sick Leave During Vacation. Should an employee become ill prior to the commencement of their vacation as supported by a medical certificate or hospitalized while on vacation, they may substitute available sick days for scheduled vacation.

Where an Employee on vacation becomes sick and is hospitalized or confined to bed by a qualified medical practitioner, the Employee will be granted sick leave for the period of hospitalization or confinement pursuant to Article 23. The Employee is required to provide a medical document of proof of the hospitalization or confinement.

An employee who becomes ill while on vacation may have such period of illness charged to his accumulated sick leave provided that immediately upon return to duty, the employee submits to his department head a written request for sick leave and a written statement signed by his physician describing the nature and dates of illness, and the department head recommends and the City Manager approves granting of such sick leave. The employee may request an extension of vacation due to illness, subject to the approval of the department head and City Manager.

Sick Leave During Vacation. An Employee becoming injured or sick while on vacation is eligible to utilize unused sick leave, instead of vacation time, provided the Employee is admitted to a hospital and presents proof of admittance to Ecology Center Management upon returning to work.

Except as otherwise provided above vacations shall be conducted in accord with Personnel Rule 6.8.
