Sixth Teaching Period. In the event that the District cannot cover all class sections with the above limitations, teachers may be assigned a sixth teaching period subject to the following conditions: a. The District shall post the additional course offering. Any unit member may voluntarily agree to accept an additional teaching assignment; however, the District is only bound to grant assignments to teachers holding valid certification in that area. The District may select a volunteer for the additional course pursuant to Section 80.2(c) of the Commissioner’s Rules and Regulations. b. If there are no applicants, the District may involuntarily assign a sixth teaching period to any certified individual in the department of the assigned class. In instances where there are insufficient numbers of certified teachers available within the department, the District may involuntarily assign the additional class to any teacher. The District will consider present teaching load and experience in making involuntary assignments. c. Any individual teaching the additional class shall be compensated at a rate equivalent to one sixth (1/6th) of BA Step 1 or one sixth (1/6th) of MA Step 1, depending upon the column placement of the individual.

Sixth Teaching Period. In those instances where any academic teacher in the core areas, only as defined in J1, agrees to teach a sixth (6th) class, the following will apply: a. In 2019-2020, $8,080 will be paid in compensation for teaching a sixth (6th) period. b. In 2020-2021, $8,282 will be paid in compensation for teaching a sixth (6th) period. c. In 2021-2022, $8,489 will be paid in compensation for teaching a sixth (6th) period. d. All monies will be pensionable. e. This additional compensation is for extra work and does not constitute an entitlement to the teacher which must be guaranteed each succeeding year. f. Unit members teaching a sixth (6th) period will not have a prep period. g. The teaching of six (6) periods, by any teacher, will occur only as a last resort as the Administration balances the demands of scheduling, educational program(s) and teacher certification for the year in question. h. The maximum number of sixth (6th) period classes shall be held to twenty (20) whenever possible.
Sixth Teaching Period. 1. Elementary School - Elementary vocal music, art, physical education and library teachers will not be assigned more than six (6) classes per day. 2. Secondary school teachers shall be assigned no more than five (5) teaching periods per day except as indicated herein. (1) Teachers of resource room, speech pathologists, music and business courses with lab may be assigned a sixth (6th) teaching period. New subjects not covered by this Agreement shall be negotiated but consent of the STA shall not be unreasonably withheld. (2) Secondary teachers who teach an extra "lab" period beyond a fifth class will be paid on a pro-rata basis an amount equal to 15% of the BA Step 1 salary schedule of that particular school year. Voluntary - all assignments to teach an extra "lab" period will be voluntary except as noted in "b" below. This additional assignment will be in place of a duty period (in addition to the above compensation). No teacher may volunteer for a second time until all other members of the department have been offered the opportunity to volunteer. Teachers who are volunteering must do so in writing.
Sixth Teaching Period a. The Board may assign no more than twenty-five percent (25%) of the teachers in the High School per year to a sixth teaching period (30 regular classes per week). In calculating the number of teachers available for a sixth teaching period, the instrumental music and driver education teachers will be excluded. These teachers may be assigned a sixth teaching period and will not be included in the base that is used to calculate the potential 25% who may be assigned to a sixth teaching period. Teachers are counted based upon their full-time equivalency (FTE). Teachers teaching a sixth period will not be assigned to a duty period (nor to a homeroom if administratively possible). b. All Middle School teachers (excluding instrumental music) may have a 5.25 period teaching schedule. This .25 period will be an enrichment class that meets every other day for one half of the year. The teacher will have a duty assignment during the half of the year that there is no teaching period. No middle school teacher shall be assigned a 6th teaching period other than the .25 enrichment period. This language replaces the original 6th period teaching period for middle school teachers.
Sixth Teaching Period. 1. The Administration may replace a teacher’s duty period in the High School and/or Middle School, with a sixth teaching assignment. 2. The Administration must endeavor to obtain volunteers within the areas in which it seeks to assign the sixth teaching period. 3. A volunteering teacher can be assigned a sixth teaching class for consecutive years. 4. Anyone teaching a sixth class, shall receive additional compensation equal to 1/7th of his/her annual salary (annual salary includes service or longevity bonus for this calculation). 5. A sixth teaching class that has been volunteered for can be assigned without regard to the contractual restrictions relating to the number of consecutive periods or the number of preparations. 6. Prior to a teacher being assigned to teach a sixth period on an involuntary basis, the Board will: a. Post the positions involved seeking volunteers. b. Advertise the position if no volunteers come forth.

The Administration must endeavor to obtain volunteers within the areas in which it seeks to assign the sixth teaching period. c. A volunteering teacher can be assigned a sixth teaching class for consecutive years. d. Anyone teaching a sixth class, shall receive additional compensation equal to 1/7th of their annual salary (annual salary includes service or longevity bonus for this calculation). e. A sixth teaching class that has been volunteered for can be assigned without regard to the contractual restrictions relating to the number of consecutive periods or the number of preparations. f. Prior to a teacher being assigned to teach a sixth period on an involuntary basis, the Board will: 1) Post the positions involved seeking volunteers. 2) Advertise the position if no volunteers come forth. 3) Notify the Association if no suitable and/or qualified teacher can be found. 4) Involuntarily appoint a teacher to the sixth class.

Related to Sixth Teaching Period

  • Funding Period The Funding Period, if any, shall not have terminated.

  • Probation Period It is understood and agreed that the first ninety days of employment shall constitute a probationary period during which period the Employer may, in its absolute discretion, terminate the Employee's employment, for any reason without notice or cause.

  • Billing Period The calendar month shall be the standard period for all charges and payments under this Agreement. On or before the fifteenth (15th) day following the end of each month, Seller shall render to Buyer an invoice for the payment obligations incurred hereunder during the preceding month, based on the Energy Delivered in the preceding month, and any RECs deposited in Buyer’s GIS account or a GIS account designated by Buyer to Seller in writing in the preceding month. Such invoice shall contain supporting detail for all charges reflected on the invoice, and Seller shall provide Buyer with additional supporting documentation and information as Buyer may request.

  • Termination Period This Option shall be exercisable for three (3) months after Participant ceases to be a Service Provider, unless such termination is due to Participant’s death or Disability, in which case this Option shall be exercisable for twelve (12) months after Participant ceases to be a Service Provider. Notwithstanding the foregoing sentence, in no event may this Option be exercised after the Term/Expiration Date as provided above and this Option may be subject to earlier termination as provided in Section 13 of the Plan.

  • Vacation Period ‌ The choice of vacation periods shall be granted to employees on the basis of seniority with the Employer except where the period requested would be detrimental to the operation of the Employer.

  • Break Period All employees working in full time (7 or 7.5 hour) positions shall be permitted a fifteen (15) minute rest period both in the first half and the second half of a shift.

  • Planning Period All observations must be conducted openly and with full knowledge of the employee.

  • Work Period The normal work period shall consist of forty (40) hours of work within a seven (7) day period or eighty (80) hours of work within a fourteen (14) day period.

  • Election Period The period which begins on the first day of the Plan Year in which the Participant attains age thirty-five (35) and ends on the date of the Participant’s death. If a Participant separates from Service prior to the first day of the Plan Year in which age thirty-five (35) is attained, the Election Period shall begin on the date of separation, with respect to the account balance as of the date of separation.

  • Retention Period The Engineer shall maintain all books, documents, papers, accounting records and other evidence pertaining to costs incurred and services provided (hereinafter called the Records). The Engineer shall make the records available at its office during the contract period and for seven (7) years from the date of final payment under this contract, until completion of all audits, or until pending litigation has been completely and fully resolved, whichever occurs last.
