Traffic Maintenance. A. In the event that any of the work is conducted within any public right of way the CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for proper Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). Unless otherwise specified, the standard specifications to be used for the work shall be as promulgated by the Florida Department of Transportation (F.D.O.T).

Traffic Maintenance. All traffic control shall be subject to approval by the City Traffic Engineer (Transportation Department 540-853-2385). The City Traffic Engineer is not the City Project Manager. Changes to the traffic control plan, as directed by the City Traffic Engineer, shall not be a basis for additional compensation. The Contractor shall submit a traffic control plan for review and approval prior to mobilization. All lane and street closures and detours shall be coordinated with the Transportation Department. Note that the Stormwater and Transportation Departments are separate departments. Traffic control plans shall be submitted within the specified number of days outlined in the Submittals (Section 01350) portion of this specification.
Traffic Maintenance. Employees in the class of Traffic Maintenance Worker II/Traffic Maintenance Leadworker who possess a valid Level I or higher Work Zone Traffic Safety Specialist Certificate and a valid Level III or higher Signs and Markings Specialist Certificate issued by the International Municipal Signal Association shall receive sixty dollars ($60) per month. This pay is pensionable under the City of Fresno Retirement System.‌

No work that interferes with public traffic shall be performed between 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. except work required under Section 7-1.03, "Public Convenience," and Section 7-1.04, "Public Safety" or by special approval of the Contract Manager. Prior to performing any work, under this contract the Contractor shall prepare and submit a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) to the Contract Manager for review. Note: To avoid delays, the Contractor is encouraged to submit in advance, several standard TCP’s covering the most common maintenance situations anticipated, prior to the start of the contract period. ALL night work (if any) requires a MANDATORY Traffic Control Plan (TCP), for each occurrence. If traffic controls are required for any operation under this contract to ensure the safety of workers and the public, a TCP must be submitted to the Contract Manager four (4) working days in advance of performing said operation. Contractor must receive written approval from the Contract Manager, or their designee, prior to implementing any traffic controls and notify Police, and Fire at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of implementing the traffic controls. Review and approval of a TCP by the Contract Manager, or their designee, is based upon general conformance with Federal, State and local regulations and standards and does not relieve Contractor of responsibility for the safety of its workers and the public. If any component in the Contractor's traffic control system is displaced, damaged, or ceases to operate correctly, from any cause, during the life of the work, the Contractor shall immediately repair said component to its original condition or replace said component and shall restore the component to its original location, noncompliance may result in work stoppage by the Contract Manager. Traffic Maintenance. The Contractor’s attention is directed to Section 6 and Section 12 of the Sacramento County Standard Construction Specifications and these Special Provisions. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining local property access and access to existing public cross streets within the limits of this contract. The Contractor shall be responsible for the safety of traffic within the project limits and on the approaches to the project. The Contractor shall provide 24-hour advance notification to the occupants of the property to which the existing access will be closed for a period of time exceeding 2 hours. Notification may be verbal to the occupant of the property or by written notice placed on or near the building entrance or the property access point to be closed. When doing work on a major street, the Contractor may, with the Contract Manager’s approval, close the traffic lanes in accordance with the Sacramento County Standard Construction Specifications. Lane closure shall not be allowed without the proper advance warning devices and signing and flag person control in conformance to the Sacramento County Standard Construction Specifications, and these Special Provisions. At the completion of each working day, all existing lanes of traffic shall be open to traffic. Provisions must be made for the uninterrupted passage of emergency vehicles through the project limits at all times, regardless of the controlled traffic conditions existing at that time.
