UNION DUES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTION. 3.1 The City agrees to deduct from the paycheck of each employee, who has so authorized it, the regular initiation fee, regular monthly dues, assessments and other fees as certified by the Union. The amounts deducted shall be transmitted monthly to the Union on behalf of the employees involved. 3.2 The performance of this function is recognized as a service to the Union by the City and the City shall honor the terms and conditions of each worker’s Union payroll deduction authorization(s) for the purposes of dues deduction only. 3.3 The Union agrees to indemnify and hold the City harmless from all claims, demands, suits or other forms of liability that arise against the City for deducting dues from Union members pursuant to this Article, including those that have communicated a desire to revoke a previous deduction authorization, along with all other issues related to the deduction of dues or fees. 3.4 The City will provide the Union access to all newly hired employees and/or persons entering the bargaining unit within thirty (30) days of such hire or entry into the bargaining unit. 3.5 The Union and a shop xxxxxxx/member leader will have at least thirty (30) minutes with such individuals during the employee’s normal working hours and at their usual worksite or mutually agreed upon location. 3.6 The City will require all new employees to attend a New Employee Orientation (NEO) within thirty

UNION DUES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTION. A. Each bargaining unit member employed on or after July 1, 1987, as a condition of continued employment shall either: 1. On or before the completion of their probationary period or the date of this Agreement, whichever shall be later, join the Union and sign and deliver to the Employer an assignment authorizing the deduction of Union membership dues which authorization shall continue in effect from year to year unless revoked in writing, or 2. Pay a service fee to the Union pursuant to the Union's "Agency Fee and Challenge Procedures." The service fee shall not exceed the non-member's proportionate share of the cost of negotiating and administering this contract. The bargaining unit member may authorize payroll deduction for such fee. In the event that the bargaining unit member shall not pay such service fee directly to the Union or authorize such payment through payroll deduction, the Employer shall, pursuant to MCL 408.477; and at the request of the Union after completion of the procedures in Paragraph 3 hereof, deduct the service fee from the bargaining unit member's wages and remit same to the Union. The Union shall hold the Employer harmless for any and all claims, demands, suits or other forms of liability by reason of action taken or not taken by the Board or its designated agent for the purpose of complying with the provisions of this agency shop agreement herein contained. It is understood that the Union shall have the right to compromise claims which may arise under this save harmless clause; however, it warrants to the Employer that the "Agency Fee and Challenge Procedures," as well as the agency fee charged to non-members, are within the parameters permitted by law. 3. Pursuant to the Chicago Teachers' Union v Xxxxxx, 000 X Xx 0000 (1986) case, the Union has established an "Agency Fee Objection and Challenge Procedure," a copy of which shall be provided to each bargaining unit member by the Union. The remedies set forth in such policy shall be exclusive, and unless and until such procedures, including any administrative or judicial review thereof, shall have been availed of and exhausted, no dispute, claim or complaint by an objecting bargaining unit member concerning the application and interpretation of this Article shall be subject to the grievance procedure set forth in this Agreement or to any other administrative or judicial procedure. UNION DUES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTION. Section 2.1 Upon receipt of an employee’s signed authorization form to deduct membership dues or voluntary agency fees, a copy of which is attached to this Agreement as Appendix A, the Employer agrees to deduct from the pay of the employee an amount as established and periodically adjusted by the union. Such deductions shall continue unless the employer is notified in writing by Council 4 that the employee is no longer a member. Council 4 reserves the right to modify and or replace any such authorization form. Section 2.2 The amount will be certified by a responsible Union Officer in writing and may be raised or lowered by the Union at any time upon notification by said officer to the Employer. Section 2.3 The Union agrees to indemnify and save the Employer harmless from and against any and all claims, demands, suits, or other form of liability that may arise out of or by reason of any action or inaction taken by the Employer for the purpose of complying with any provision of this Article. Section 2.4 Such payroll deductions, as provided herein, shall be remitted to the Council 4 Office of the Union by the fifteenth (15th) day of the next month following the month in which such dues and/or voluntary service fees were deducted along with a list of names of employees’ from whom the deductions have been made.

  • PROFESSIONAL DUES OR FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS 5.1 Any unit member who is a member of the Association, or who has applied for membership, may sign and deliver to the District an assignment authorizing deduction of unified membership dues, initiation fees, and general assessments of the Association. Pursuant to such authorization, the District shall deduct one-tenth of such dues from the regular salary check of the bargaining unit member each month for ten (10) months. Deductions for bargaining unit members who sign such authorization after the commencement of the school year shall be appropriately pro-rated to complete payments by the end of the school year. 5.2 Any unit member who is not a member of the Association, or who does not make application for membership within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this Agreement, or within thirty (30) days from the date of commencement of assigned duties, shall become a member of the Association or pay to the Association a fee in an amount equal to unified membership dues, initiation fees and general 5.3 Any unit member who is a member of a religious body whose traditional tenets or teaching include objections to joining or financially supporting employee organizations shall not be required to join or financially support the Association, as a condition of employment, except that such unit member shall pay, in lieu of a service fee, sums equal to such service fee to one of the following non-religious, non- labor organizations, charitable funds exempt from taxation under section 501 (c) (3) of Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code. (For example: Murrieta Fire Protection District) 5.3.1 Proof of payment and a written statement of objection, along with verifiable evidence of membership in a religious body whose traditional tenets or teachings object to joining or financially supporting employee organizations, pursuant to section 5.3 above, shall be made on an annual basis to the District as a condition of continued exemption from the provisions of sections 5.1 and 5.2 of this Article. Evidence shall be in the form of receipts and/or canceled checks indicating the amount paid, date of payment, and to whom payment in lieu of the service fee has been made. Such proof shall be presented on or before November 1 of each school year. The Association shall have the right of inspection in order to review said proof of payment. 5.3.2 Any unit member making payments as set forth in sections 5.3 and 5.3.1, above, and who requests that the grievance or arbitration provisions of this Agreement be used on his or her behalf, shall be responsible for paying the reasonable cost of using said grievance or arbitration procedures. 5.4 With respect to all sums deducted by the District pursuant to sections 5.1 and 5.2 above, whether for membership dues or agency fee, the District agrees to promptly remit such monies to the Association, accompanied by an alphabetical list of bargaining unit members for whom such deductions have been made, categorizing them as to membership or non-membership in the Association, and indicating any changes in personnel from the list previously furnished. The Association agrees to furnish any information needed by the District to fulfill the provisions of this Article.

  • Other Payroll Deductions Upon appropriate written authorization from the employee, the Board shall deduct from the salary of any employee and make appropriate remittance for annuities, credit union, savings bonds, insurance, or any other plans or programs approved by the parties.

  • Payroll Deduction A. Membership dues of OCEA members in this Representation Unit and insurance premiums for such OCEA sponsored insurance programs as may be approved by the Board of Supervisors shall be deducted by the County from the pay warrants of such members. The Company shall, because the employee did not have sufficient wages payable to him on the designated payroll, carry forward and deduct from any subsequent wages the dues not deducted in an earlier month. 12.04 Only payroll deductions now or hereafter required by law, as well as benefit and pension deductions, shall be made from wages prior to the deduction of dues. 12.05 The amount of dues so deducted from wages accompanied by a statement of deductions from individuals, shall be remitted by the Company to the Union as may be mutually agreed by the Union and the Company, not later than thirty (30) calendar days following the month in which the deductions were made. 12.06 The Union agrees to indemnify and save the Company harmless against any claim or liability arising out of the application of this article. However, in any instances in which an error occurs in the amount of any deduction of dues from an employee’s wages, the Company shall adjust the amount in a subsequent remittance. 12.07 The Union will provide the Company with a percentage or other amount of basic wages to be applied for the purpose of dues deductions.

  • Payroll Deduction Schedule The Board will deduct the representation fee in equal installments, as nearly as possible, from the paychecks paid to each employee on the aforesaid list during the remainder of the membership year in question. The deductions will begin with the first paycheck paid:

  • DEDUCTION OF UNION DUES 29.1 The Company shall deduct on the payroll for the pay period which contains the 24th day of the month from wages due and payable to each employee subject to the terms of this agreement an amount equivalent to the uniform, monthly dues of the Union, subject to the conditions and exceptions set forth in this Article. 29.2 The amount to be deducted shall be equivalent to the uniform, regular dues payment of the Union and shall not include initiation fees or special assessments. The provisions of this Article shall be applicable on receipt by the Company of notice in writing from the Union of the amount of regular monthly dues. 29.3 Membership in the Union shall be available to any employee eligible under the constitution of the Union on payment of the initiation or reinstatement fees uniformly required of all other such applicants. 29.4 Union dues deductions for new employees shall commence on the first pay period which contains the 24th day of the month. 29.5 If the wages of an employee payable on the payroll for the pay period which contains the 24th day of the month are insufficient to permit the deduction of the full amount of dues, no such deduction shall be made from the wages of such employee by the Company in such month. The Company shall not, because the employee did not have sufficient wages payable to him/her on the designated payroll, carry forward and deduct from any subsequent wages any dues not deducted in an earlier month. 29.6 Only payroll deductions now or hereafter required by law, deduction of monies due or owing the Company, pension deductions and deductions for provident funds shall be made from wages prior to the deduction of dues. 29.7 The amounts of dues so deducted from wages, accompanied by a statement of deductions from individuals, shall be remitted by the Company to the designated officer of the Union not later than forty calendar days following the pay period in which the deductions are made. The remittance shall be sent to TC Local 1976 USW, 0000 Xx XxXxxxx Xxxxxx, Xxxxx 000, Xxxxxxxx (Xxxxxx) X0X 0X0. 29.8 The Company shall not be responsible financially or otherwise, either to the Union or to any employee, for any failure to make deductions or for making improper or inaccurate deductions or remittances. However, in any instance in which an error occurs in the amount of any deduction of dues from an employee's wages, the Company shall adjust it directly with the employee. In the event of any mistake by the Company in the amount of its remittance to the Union, the Company shall adjust the amount in a subsequent remittance. The Company's liability for any and all amounts deducted pursuant to the provisions of this Article shall terminate at the time it remits the amounts payable to the designated officer of the Union. 29.9 The question of what, if any, compensation shall be paid the Company by the Union in recognition of services performed under this Article shall be left in abeyance subject to reconsideration at the request of either party on fifteen days notice in writing. 29.10 In the event of any action at law against the parties hereto resulting from any deduction or deductions from payrolls made or to be made by the Company pursuant to this Article, both parties shall co-operate fully in the defense of such action. Each party shall bear its own cost of such defense except that, if at the request of the Union counsel fees are incurred, these shall be borne by the Union. Save as aforesaid, the Union shall indemnify and save harmless the Company from any losses, damages, costs, liability or expenses suffered or sustained by it as a result of any such deduction or deductions from payrolls. 29.11 Union dues may be deducted on a bi-weekly basis upon mutual agreement between the parties.

  • Salary Deductions Salaried employees (E-level classifications) who are permanently assigned to full-time job classifications are paid on a bi-weekly salary basis. Salaried employees are paid a bi-weekly salary based on a minimum of two (2) forty (40) hour workweeks. The bi-weekly salary received by salaried employees will not be reduced regardless of the number of hours the salaried employee actually works in any week in which the salaried employee performs any work except for the following deductions: (A) Deductions from a salaried employee's salary may be made for any workweek in which the salaried employee performs no work. (B) Deductions from a salaried employee's salary may be made when the employee absents himself from work for a full day or days for personal reasons, other than sickness or accident. This provision shall not prevent appropriate deductions from being made from any employee's vacation leave balance pursuant to Article 11 of this Agreement for absences of less than a day for personal reasons, other than sickness or accident. (C) Deductions from an employee's salary may be made when a salaried employee absents himself from work for a day (or days) for sickness or accident disability in accordance with the provisions of Articles 13 and 14 of this Agreement. (D) Deduction in a salaried employee's salary may be made for the initial or terminal week of the salaried employee if the salaried employee fails to work the entire workweek.
