UTILITY DRIVERS Sample Clauses

UTILITY DRIVERS. The use of utility drivers and the method of payment for such utility drivers shall be contained in the Riders attached to this Supplement and/or Addenda which may be made a part of such Rider.
UTILITY DRIVERS. 6.01 It is agreed that package operations may hire Utility Drivers. Part-time employees (in order of seniority) who desire to be hired as Utility Drivers shall so inform their Center Manager in writing. Those part-time employees who successfully meet the qualification standards for UPS drivers will be considered for the Utility driving job (e.g., personal safe driving record and must pass DOT physical).
UTILITY DRIVERS. A. It is agreed that package operations may utilize utility drivers. Regular part-time employees (in order of seniority) who desire to be utilized as a utility driver shall so inform their center/operations manager in writing. Those part-time employees who successfully meet the qualification standards for utility drivers, shall be placed on the building utility driver list by area practice and will be dispatched by the most senior utility driver qualified to deliver or pick up by area knowledge. If judged to be not qualified by area knowledge the company will at its earliest opportunity provide training to qualify the employee in the area knowledge needed. It is hereby agreed between the Company and the Union that the Company may deviate from seniority forlack of area knowledge” for only two (2) occurrences (an occurrence can be one (1) workday up to maximum of five (5) consecutive workdays) on the same route. Thereafter the Company will dispatch the utility driver by seniority for the route. B. These utility drivers may be used to cover absentees, overflow work, vacations, etc. There shall be no restrictions on the starting time of utility drivers. When possible the Company will make every effort to work the utility driver for eight (8) consecutive hours excluding their lunch break. C. If an individual works as a utility driver for more than one (1) hour and then performs his regularly assigned work on a continuous basis, all hours worked for the day will be paid at the higher rate. D. If an individual works as a utility driver and is released from duty, after or prior to their regularly scheduled hours of work, (with a minimum of 1/2 hour break in between), they shall be paid the utility drivers rate for hours worked as a utility driver and their regular rate for hours worked on their normal assignment. E. No part-time employee receiving a higher rate of pay shall suffer a reduction in hourly rate as a result of being used as a utility driver. F. Part-time employees disqualified from full-time driving and utility drivers disqualified from utility driving for serious avoidable accidents, serious and bona fide customer complaints, or serious service problems may be disqualified from utility work for six (6) months from the date they were disqualified. G. During the months of November and December, a utility driver may be assigned to a peak route that is mutually agreed to by the parties. These utility drivers may be used to cover absentees, overflow work, etc. Utility drivers, who work in centers located in hub buildings where hub work is available, will be guaranteed eight (8) hours pay at the driver rates. In other locations where hub work is not available, the eight (8) hour guarantee will not apply. Starting time restriction shall not apply to utility drivers. The company shall post a bid for utility drivers in the first week of March each year. An employee who desires to be added to the cur- rent utility list, and who has more seniority than the junior employ- ee on the current list shall place their name on the bid. Employees who successfully meet the qualification standards for UPS drivers and complete the orientation training will be added to the list. The training shall commence within ninety (90) days. Progression scale for utility drivers (Refer to Article 21, Section 2).
UTILITY DRIVERS who disqualify themselves from the utility driver classification and who choose to no longer perform utility work then subsequently enter the full-time driver classification, shall receive the New Hire Progression rate in NMUPS Article 41 Section 2 or their current rate, whichever is greater.

UTILITY DRIVERS. After completion of a thirty (30) day on road training period in the same center, a new driver is given the utility driving job, unless a driver with more seniority wants such utility work. This enables high seniority drivers to be on regular assigned sections when such work becomes available in the center to which the employee is assigned. Seniority shall be observed when loaning out utility drivers to another center. When directed on a scheduled day of dispatch, travel time to and from another facility shall be considered paid for time. Employees will use the Employer’s vehicles whenever possi- ble. Employee’s who use their personal vehicle shall be xxxx- bursed at the applicable IRS rate per mile. Employees using their personal vehicles shall be paid for both time and mileage beyond his/her normal commute. When delivery area vacancies are scheduled for a week or more, utility drivers shall bid, in seniority order, those vacated areas on a week by week basis. Once a utility driver is awarded a weekly vacancy bid, in accordance with their seniority, they shall not be removed from that weekly vacancy bid, except when the regular bid driver returns to work during the week. These delivery area vacancies shall be posted by Thursday of the prior week.
