Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Members participating in organized Emergency Search And Rescue (SAR) operations directed by state and/or local authorities may be allowed time off for such activities chargeable to annual leave, or leave without pay, at their option. B. A Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Member who is a volunteer fire department member or emergency medical technician shall notify their supervisor of their volunteer status. The University may allow time off for such activities with a limitation on the number of Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Members who may be excused from their normal work activities to respond to emergency services. Volunteer Emergency Services Leave. If you engage in a voluntary emergency activity, you are entitled to up to 5 days paid Volunteer Emergency Services Leave per calendar year from your accrued Personal Leave balance. A 'voluntary emergency activity' involves a member of a 'recognised emergency management body' being requested to deal with a natural disaster or emergency on a voluntary basis. A 'recognised emergency management body' is a fire fighting, civil defence or rescue body or is prepared by the Commonwealth, a State or Territory. You are eligible for Volunteer Emergency Services Leave if you have more than 12 months continuous service with us and in taking this leave will not result in you having less than 3 weeks accumulated Personal Leave balance. If you do not qualify for this leave you may apply for Special Leave. We may request proof of participation in the voluntary emergency activity.
Volunteer Emergency Services Leave. The parties have agreed to the following text: 12.1 Subject to the remainder of this clause, an employee who is also a member of a recognised and accredited volunteer emergency service or xxxx fire brigade shall, where a natural disaster is declared, be entitled to take a leave of absence if they are required to attend an emergency during a period they would ordinarily be required to work. 12.2 Subject to an agreement between the individual employee concerned and management, such leave shall be deemed to be personal / carer's leave. 12.3 An employee shall only be entitled to an amount equivalent to one half of their sick leave accrual in any three month period. 12.4 In order to become eligible to take such a leave of absence, the employee must notify the employer of the details of the service in which they are enlisted, their post and the contact details of their commanding officer. An employee who is a commanding officer of a distinct operational unit shall provide the Company with the contract details of their immediate superior. 12.5 Prior to taking such a leave of absence, the employee must state the nature of their leave of absence, including the location and purpose, as well as the expected duration and current contact detail for their superior officer for the purpose of verification of such details. 12.6 An employee without sick leave entitlements shall not be eligible to take such a leave of absence, however, where an employee has accrued leave, the employee shall be entitled to use rostered days off, annual leave or long service leave, where applicable, at short notice, provided that the conditions of this clause are met. 12.7 The determination of the validity, or otherwise, of an employee's request to take such leave shall rest with the Company, who shall not unreasonably deny such a request.
Volunteer Emergency Services Leave. (a) In line with XXXX's business values of supporting its local community, this provision is to allow co-workers access to paid leave for volunteer service work in times of emergency, crisis or disaster in the local community. (b) Only recognised volunteer emergency services are to apply under this clause. (c) Co-workers who are required to attend to such emergency, crisis or disaster are entitled to 2 days leave paid at the co-worker's ordinary hourly rate of pay (plus penalty rates where applicable) per occasion, up to a maximum of 6 days per anniversary year. Where a co-worker has exhausted their paid Emergency Services Leave, they will be entitled to unpaid leave in accordance with the NES. (d) If a permanent co-worker is required to access paid voluntary emergency services leave, the co-worker must contact their direct manager or the person in charge of the unit as soon as reasonably practicable. At this point of contact, the co-worker will also be required to advise management of the nature of the voluntary service event and the estimated duration of the absence. (e) IKEA may consider extending the amount of paid volunteer emergency services leave in exceptional circumstances but only on a case-by-case basis. (f) To access paid leave, a co-worker will be required to make available written proof of their involvement. (g) Volunteer emergency services leave is not cumulative from year to year.
Volunteer Emergency Services Leave. (i) Employees who are a member of a recognised emergency management body, as defined by the Emergency Management Act 2006 and who are absent from duty as a result of their attendance at an eligible Community Service activity, as defined by the Emergency Management Act 2006, will be granted leave with pay at the wages for the period of up to five (5) days per annum. (ii) Leave with pay is to be granted on the basis that the employee is not required for WCWR own essential operations, and that the emergency management body requiring the Employee certifies that the person is or was required for the specified period. (iii) The granting of Emergency Services Leave is at WCWR’s discretion, and as such, an employee requesting Emergency Services Leave is to contact the WCWR (Senior Management) prior to commencement of their shift. (iv) Paid leave entitlement only applies to voluntary work and not for any form of paid Emergency Service work.

  • Emergency Services Leave (a) An Employee who engages in a voluntary emergency management activity is entitled to be absent without loss of pay from his or her employment for a total of 5 days per annum commencing at the start of each calendar year. For the purposes of this Article, the individuals referred to in this Article are: - the employee’s spouse - a parent, step-parent or xxxxxx parent of the employee or the employee’s spouse - a child, step-child or xxxxxx child of the employee or the employee’s spouse - a grandparent, step-grandparent, grandchild or step-grandchild of the employee or of the employee’s spouse - the spouse of a child of the employee - the employee’s brother or sister - a relative of the employee who is dependent on the employee for care or assistance. An employee who wishes to take leave under this section shall advise his or her Hospital that he or she will be doing so. If the employee must begin the leave before advising the Hospital, the employee shall advise the Hospital of the leave as soon as possible after beginning it. An employee is entitled to take a total of 10 days’ leave under this section each year. If an employee takes any part of a day as leave under this section, the Hospital may deem the employee to have taken one day’s leave on that day for the purposes of this Article. The Hospital may require an employee who takes leave under this section to provide evidence reasonable in the circumstances that the employee is entitled to the leave. Upon the conclusion of an employee’s leave under this Article, the Hospital shall reinstate the employee to the position the employee most recently held with the Hospital, if it still exists, or to a comparable position, if it does not.

  • Volunteer Leave Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) working days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, a single period of up to seven decimal five (7.5) hours’ of leave with pay to work as a volunteer for a charitable or community organization or activity, other than for activities related to the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. The leave will be scheduled at a time convenient both to the employee and the Employer. Nevertheless, the Employer shall make every reasonable effort to grant the leave at such a time as the employee may request.

  • Personal Emergency Leave 1. An educator will be granted up to five (5) days of leave per year to cover situations beyond the control of the educator which would significantly impair teaching service. Personal emergency leave may not be used for illness or injury, or illness or injury in the immediate family. Deductions from the gross pay of an educator for this leave shall be made at the degreed substitute rate of pay for each day taken. 2.
