Assigned Duty, Working Conditions and Professional Development. 2.9 Time-status of Appointments “Time-status” refers to full-time work or portions thereof specified in an instructor's appointment(s) e.g. full-time, half-time, three-quarters time, two-thirds time, etc.
Assigned Duty, Working Conditions and Professional Development. Regular instructors on layoff having recall rights may have to the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the policies during the period of recall up to a maximum of twenty-four months: • Medical Services Plan (Basic Medical), provided they maintain eligibility under the terms of the plan. Note: the plan cover out-of-country expenses for up to twelve months. • Extended Health Benefits, provided coverage is maintained. • Dental. Such benefits will be maintained for instructors provided they full cost of the premiums in advance on a quarterly basis. Failure to do so will result in the cessation of benefit coverage. * Term Instructors Term instructors holding a one-year appointment at half time or more are entitled to general holidays, Christmas holiday, sick leave, and and welfare insurance in accordance with the terms of this Agreement (except Payment on Death). Eligibility periods for health, disability, and life insurance benefits are as follows: • Basic Medical and Extended Health Insurance: the first complete calendar month of employment. • Dental, Salary Indemnity, Long Term Disability, and Group Life Insurance: the first of the month following the day on which months of duty within a consecutive twelve month period at half-time or more. Participation in these plans is mandatory upon eligibility. Term instructors appointed on the basis of or more and whose appointments span more than a calendar month ‘less than one year in length have annual general holiday and Christmas pay included within the per diem rate of pay sick leave and all health and welfare insurance benefits in accordance with the this Agreement (excepting Payment on Death). Assigned Duty, Working Conditions and Professional Development. Scheduling The department head, with the involvement of the instructors department, shall determine each instructor’s schedule of assigned duty (subject to the terms of Article and professional development, vacation and other leave periods. Approval of all such schedules is the responsibility of the appropriate Vice President or delegate. Consideration shall be given to the commitment of the College, the needs of the department, the desires of the individual, and seniority (not listed in order of priority) in determining an instructor’s schedule of assigned duty, professional development, vacation, and other leave periods. A regular instructor assigned to a specific schedule of duty shall have priority for assignment to a different established schedule of duty within the appropriate department, if vacant, on the basis of seniority as defined (Seniority), provided that the qualifications for that discipline and the criteria set out in Article of this Agreement are met. Notwithstanding the provisions of Articles and department head, with the approval of the appropriate Vice-President or delegate and the majority of the members of the department, may schedule the equivalent of ten days of assigned duty over nine days or the equivalent of five days of assigned duty over four days.
Assigned Duty, Working Conditions and Professional Development. Instructors must complete and submit professional development proposals out how the time will be used to their advantage and to that of the College. All professional development proposals must be approved by the appropriate Vice President or delegate. The College reserves the right to suggest alternate activities for the instructor’s consideration. Upon completion, instructors shall account for their activities during their professional development. * Regular and term instructors, employed half-time or more, complete eight months of duty within the fiscal year, shall be entitled to professional development, as provided herein. Payment for the above entitlement is prorated based on the percentage of scheduled workload maintained the best accrual months for those working less than workload. See explanatory chart, Appendix page the prior written approval of the appropriate Vice President or delegate, any professional development during an instructor’s vacation period will result in the equivalent number of vacation days being scheduled in accordance with Article (Scheduling). In order to accommodate professional development pursuant to Article the College shall provide funding in accordance with the attached Agreement: Professional Development Funds.

These forms of work shall be assigned to each instructor under the terms of Article and . student evaluation and/or placement . marking . office hours . provision of information and/or resources to students . administrative, divisional, departmental and/or committee meetings . directing or supervising paraprofessionals and/or support staff . liaison with industry, community or other agencies . course, lesson, or program preparation and related routine curriculum development work . development of teaching aids and materials . previewing and assessing new instructional materials . other duties agreed to by the department and Principal or delegate In each department, the department head shall consult with the instructors in the department in order to determine which of the forms of work listed in Articles and shall constitute their assigned duties as well as the number of hours for each form of work. The decision of the department head shall be subject to the approval of the majority of the instructors in the department. The decision of the department shall then be subject to the approval of the Principal or delegate. The approval of the Principal or delegate shall not be unreasonably withheld. In determining the forms of work that constitute instructor’s assigned duties, departments are free to choose any of the forms of work listed in Articles and in a manner that meets the objectives of the course or program.   • Training and Professional Development C. Maintain written program procedures covering these six (6) core activities. All procedures shall be consistent with the requirements of this Contract.

  • Continuing Professional Development The Official Agency shall provide appropriate training for staff performing official controls, enabling them to undertake their duties competently and to carry out official controls in a consistent manner, as per legislative requirements. The Official Agency shall identify training needs for staff performing official controls and ensure that staff carrying out official controls are kept up to date in their area of competence and develop specialised expertise, in partnership with the Authority and other Local Authorities. While the provision of training is the primary responsibility of the Official Agency, the Authority may provide training interventions where the Official Agency has highlighted areas where training is required. The Authority will endeavour to facilitate networking and collaboration with other Official Agencies to assist in improving knowledge in such areas. The Authority will provide e-learning resources and training for official control staff so as to promote a consistent understanding and application of new legislation, guidance or procedures, as appropriate. The Official Agency shall support participants in using e-learning resources, disseminating knowledge or skills acquired and encourage the application of learning gained through the Authority’s training in official control activities. The Official Agency shall ensure that contractors used in the performance of the Service Contract provide evidence of Continuous Professional Development and Compliance with this section. Where staff from the Official Agency need to travel outside the Official Agency functional area to attend training courses/meetings, this shall be facilitated by the Official Agency. The Official Agency in partnership with the Authority shall develop and implement training programmes for all staff engaged in the performance of the Service Contract. Where staff have participated in Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF) the training content shall be disseminated to relevant staff/contractors in the Official Agency and other local authorities in partnership with the Authority.

  • Professional Development Activities Professional development activities are activities initiated by individual faculty members or groups of faculty members and may include attendance at conferences, workshops or seminars which facilitate the following:

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund. Any unused balances in these funds shall carry over to the next budget year.

As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation. The parties recognize their joint responsibility in and commitment to active participation in the area of professional development.

  • Professional Development; Adverse Consequences of School Exclusion; Student Behavior The Board President or Superintendent, or their designees, will make reasonable efforts to provide ongoing professional development to Board members about the adverse consequences of school exclusion and justice-system involvement, effective classroom management strategies, culturally responsive discipline, appropriate and available supportive services for the promotion of student attendance and engagement, and developmentally appropriate disciplinary methods that promote positive and healthy school climates, i.e., Senate Bill 100 training topics. Board Self-Evaluation The Board will conduct periodic self-evaluations with the goal of continuous improvement. New Board Member Orientation The orientation process for newly elected or appointed Board members includes:

  • Professional Development Fund A budget item equal to one-half (½) of one (1) percent of employees' salaries shall be set aside annually to be used to:

  • Professional Development Reimbursement Management will provide reimbursement for approved professional development expenses for Lieutenants and Sergeants. Funds may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing Lieutenants and Sergeants for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities. Management must approve of the specific professional development request in advance. Denial will require written notification to the requesting Lieutenant or Sergeant.
