Bus TripsRegular bus drivers who desire extra trips shall notify their immediate supervisor who will place their names on a roster based on seniority. Such roster will include (in order), the names of regularly employed bus drivers, substitute bus drivers and members of another bargaining unit within the school district. If a bus driver is next in line for an extra trip and refuses the offer, the opportunity will be given to the next name on the list. If the extra trip conflicts with the driver’s regularly scheduled route, it shall be the driver’s choice as to whether or not he/she will take the extra trip in lieu of the regularly scheduled route and if the District determines a suitable replacement is available. The driver shall be compensated for the route or the trip driven.

Standby time will be paid at Step 1 of the driver’s regular rate of pay. In the event a driver works over 10 (ten) in a regular work day, they will be compensated at 150% of their regular wage for any time worked over 10 (ten) hours in that day. Under the authority of ORS 653.269, overtime pay will not be paid for overnight trips. However, if a driver’s total weekly hours exceed the 40-hour test for overtime, all hours over 40 will be paid at the overtime rate as established by Federal Standards. In the event a bus driver must arrange for lodging, a receipt for such lodging will be provided to the Transportation Supervisor for reimbursement. The driver at the top of the list for that week shall have first selection of a trip in the coming week. The next driver would have second choice and so on. Once a driver has chosen a trip their name drops to the bottom of the list and moves up as other drivers choose a trip.
