Committee on Political Education (COPE. Employees may make voluntary contributions to the Union’s registered political action committees. The employer shall make the deduction of the voluntary contributions in the same manner as the dues deduction process. Every pay period the Union will notify the employer with a list of employees and the appropriate deduction amount on the “authorized deduction report” of the employees who have signed an authorization for the COPE deduction. Employees may discontinue voluntary political deductions by providing notice of cancellation to the Union and the Union shall transmit such notice of cancellation to the Employers by the next full pay period cycle.

Committee on Political Education (COPE. Upon written request on a form provided by AAP and approved by the University, members of AAP may have dues deducted from their paychecks as a voluntary monthly Committee on Political Education (COPE) deduction. The amount to be deducted will be certified by the Treasurer. The amount will be forwarded to AAP with regular dues deductions, with the COPE amount so specified.

The Employer agrees to deduct and transmit to SEIU Healthcare Minnesota, COPE, $ per pay period from the wages of those employees who voluntarily authorize such contributions on the forms provided for that purpose by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota. These transmittals shall occur for each payroll period and shall be accompanied by a list of the names of those employees for whom such deductions have been made and the amount deducted for each such employee. The Union will hold the Employer harmless from any dispute with an employee concerning deductions made.

Upon receipt of written authorization from an employee, the Employer shall pursuant to such authorization, deduct from the wages of the employee a sum specified in said authorization, and remit same for the SEIU Committee on Political Education (COPE) The Union shall provide a standard “Voluntary COPE Deduction Authorization Form” for the purpose of this authorization.

The district will deduct from the unit member’s payroll warrants and pay to the Federation Treasurer an amount specified in writing by unit members who voluntarily authorize contributions to COPE. These transactions shall occur monthly and shall be accompanied by a list of the unit members for whom such deductions have been made and the amount deducted for each unit member.
Committee on Political Education (COPE. Section 1. The Employer and the Union shall provide for a program and procedure whereby eligible employees may make voluntary contributions through payroll deduction to the Committee on Political Education (COPE), a separately segregated political action committee sponsored by the Union.
Section 2. Participation by any such employee shall be on a voluntary basis and employees shall be so informed by the person soliciting their participation on behalf of the Union.
Section 3. Employees wishing to participate must complete a payroll deduction authorization card available from a representative of the Union. When completed by the employee, the authorization card will be forwarded by the Union to the appropriate payroll office. The Union will be responsible for satisfying its own requirements for records retention.
Section 4. Monthly employee deductions shall be in the minimum amount of one dollar ($1.00).
Section 5. On a monthly basis, the Employer shall remit to the Treasurer of COPE the full amount of authorized deductions for the proceeding month. In addition, the Employer shall transmit to the Treasurer of COPE monthly a list of contributors through payroll deduction showing the contributor’s name and amount contributed.
Section 6. Any employee’s payroll deduction shall cease upon the occurrence of any of the following:
A. Termination of a participating employee’s employment;
B. Retirement of a participating employee;
C. Transfer of a participating employee out of the bargaining unit;
D. Receipt in the payroll office of written notice to cancel contributions to COPE signed by the employee;
E. Receipt in the payroll office of written notice from the Union that an employee is no longer eligible to participate;
F. Leave of absence (unpaid) of a participating employee.
Section 7. Deductions shall not be made if the employee has insufficient earnings to contribute to COPE.
Section 8. The parties agree that neither the employees nor the Union shall have a claim against the Employer for errors in the processing of deductions, unless a claim of error is made in writing to the Employer within sixty (60) days after the date such error is claimed to have occurred. If it is found that an error was made, it will be corrected at the next pay period that the COPE deduction would normally be made by deducting the proper amount.

Committee on Political Education (COPE. Anixter Center shall provide a voluntary payroll deduction to the Union’s Committee on Political Education (C.O.P.E.) upon receipt of written authorization from employees. Such deductions shall be accomplished in accordance with established Anixter Center procedures, with such deductions being remitted to the Union in a separate check on a monthly basis. All such funds deducted from employees and submitted to the Union under the provisions of this section shall be considered funds of the employee at all times and not funds of Anixter Center.

The Employer agrees to deduct and transmit to SEIU COPE all monies deducted per pay period from the wages of these employees who voluntarily authorize such contributions on the forms provided by SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin for that purpose. These transmittals shall occur via electronic fund transfer for each month and shall be included in the list in Article 4
Section 4.1 with a list of names of those employees in a password protected electronic spreadsheet for whom such deductions have been made and the amount deducted for each employee.

The Employer shall deduct monthly or weekly a flat dollar amount, if the Employer’s payroll system permits, from the gross wages or salary of each employee who voluntarily executes the Committee on Political Education (COPE) payroll deduction authorization form that is Appendix F to this Agreement the contributions so authorized on that form, and remit those contributions to the Union at the same time that the Employer remits to the Union the Union dues that are separately voluntarily authorized by employees to be deducted from their gross wages or salaries and remitted to the Union pursuant to 2nd paragraph of this Article. The Employer may remit COPE contributions and Union dues to the Union by a single check, or by separate checks. With each COPE contribution remittance, the Employer shall provide the Union with a written itemization setting forth as to each contributing employee his or her name, social security number and total contribution amount. The parties acknowledge that the Employer’s costs of administration of this COPE payroll deduction have been considered by the parties in their negotiation of this Agreement and have been incorporated in the wage, salary, and benefits provisions of this Agreement. The Employer's responsibility under this Article is limited solely to disbursing the funds to the Union as provided in this Article. The Union shall assume all responsibility for distribution of the COPE contribution remittance to the COPE's participants’ accounts.
