The "Educational Meetings" clause defines the terms under which educational sessions, seminars, or training events may be organized or attended as part of the agreement. Educational Meetings. A teacher, upon request, may be granted up to but not to exceed forty (40) hours in any given contract year, the time necessary to attend educational meetings/workshops when permission is granted by the superintendent or designee.

Moving the positions into a new retirement system, or ending the retirement system, will not stop coverage. All positions within the retirement system coverage group - current, future, and ineligibles that become eligible - will pay the Social Security tax (currently 6.2%).
Educational Meetings. Section 7.01 The DISTRICT will provide financial reimbursement for teachers who attend educational meetings, approved by the Superintendent. To be eligible, a written request must be presented to the Superintendent one (1) week in advance of the School Board meeting, prior to the conference, giving the time, place and an estimate of the expenditures. Three (3) days is the maximum that will be paid for a teacher during the school year. An itemized ▇▇▇▇ of actual expenses must be furnished for the approval of the School Board before payment will be made. When rides are shared, the mileage will be pro-rated accordingly. Section 7.02 The School District shall reimburse teachers approved conference expenses at the rate of $600.00 per year.
Section 7.03 The cost of the application of this subsection shall not exceed the budgeted sum in any school year. Substitute costs necessitated by leaves directed by the Board or the Administration shall not be charged to this fund. Substitute costs for leaves for attending athletic, coaching clinics shall not be charged to this fund. Any unused portion of the annual budgeted sum shall remain the property of the DISTRICT.
Educational Meetings. The Association has the prerogative of using ten (10) paid days for P.S.E.A. conventions and professional meetings per year with a maximum of three (3) to be used during any one day. Any request for additional days for the above purposes will be given further consideration by the District. For each such day utilized, the Association will reimburse the District for the salary and social security costs of the substitute teacher. The association president or his/her designee shall be granted release time of 1 period (42 minutes) per week as needed for the purpose of conducting business. The president or his/her designee shall suffer no loss of salary or benefits or other professional advantage to which they are entitled as a result using this leave. This leave shall be coordinated with the building principal.
Educational Meetings. The Employer agrees to allow two members of the Guild, as selected by the Guild, unpaid leave of absence, to take up to four (4) days per calendar year, for the purpose of attending training session related to Guild representation, provided that any such unpaid leave shall be scheduled at least thirty (30) days in advance and shall be subject to scheduling limitations of the Police Department. In the event that release of two members shall cause a hardship on police staffing, the City shall be under no obligation to provide or allow for such release.

The Superintendent will attend and participate in seminars, institutes, and/or meetings that may be provided by the School City, required by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, or authorized by the School City. Educational leave may be used on an hourly basis. Education/professional leave time shall be available on a calendar year basis, based on FTE, in accordance with the schedule below.
