(iv) To consult and consider efficient means to improve safety, quality assurance and the environmental effects of the site. (v) To manage the ongoing implementation of a consultative mechanism and procedures for restructuring the enterprise to increase efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the plant. Functions of the Committee. 5.1 The functions of the Committee are as follows: 5.1.1 To negotiate sustainable collective agreements on salaries and conditions of service which contribute to the development of a highly skilled and motivated teaching profession. 5.1.2 To promote and support the application of such agreements in Scottish local government and the education service in particular, for the benefit of teaching staff, pupils and communities. 5.1.3 To promote co-operation between Scottish Executive, employers and recognised teaching organisations. 5.1.4 To support the promotion of equality and the avoidance of discriminatory practices in employment. 5.1.5 To support the promotion of Continuing Professional Development. 5.1.6 To provide advice and assistance to education authorities, recognised teaching organisations and employees on salaries and conditions of service matters. 5.1.7 To provide a national conciliation service for the resolution of disputes that cannot be resolved locally. 5.1.8 To settle, ultimately differences of interpretation and/or application of the national agreement that cannot be resolved locally. 5.1.9 To undertake any activity which assists the functions of the Committee stated above.
Functions of the Committee. The Committee is established for the purpose of enabling the Parties, during the term of this Agreement, to discuss issues relating to the workplace that affect the Parties or any Employee bound by this Agreement. The Committee shall not deal with grievances nor collective bargaining for the renewal, extension or modification of this collective agreement. The Committee may review the Collective Agreement for opportunities to make the language clearer and more concise. Mutually agreed changes could be added as Memorandum of Understandings to the current collective agreement and/or tabled for consideration for inclusion in the next contract.

Functions of the Committee. The Committee shall concern itself with the following general matters: a) Identifying issues and concerns, as well as considering solutions so as to strengthen current relations that exist between the Board and the Teachers. b) Improving and extending services to the Board and to the public. c) Reviewing suggestions from the Teachers and the Board, questions of working conditions and service (but not grievances). d) Correcting conditions causing grievances and misunderstandings. e) The committee shall receive a report on system wide staffing, including an overview of enrolment, teacher allocation and class size. f) Both parties acknowledge the necessity for sick leave provisions out of genuine concern for the welfare of Teachers. The committee shall jointly study the issue of teacher absenteeism and explore proactive strategies to reduce sick leave usage. g) Reviewing and engaging in consultations pertaining to implementation strategies of Ministry/Board initiatives. h) Reviewing and revising, annually, the Board’s document re: Best Practices in Assignment and Scheduling, for distribution by March 1st to Principals and the Association.
Functions of the Committee. 1. The committee shall be chaired jointly by a committee member from the Association and a committee member appointed by the Superintendent/designee. 2. The Committee shall meet on an “as needed” basis upon mutual agreement to assess the evaluation procedure. 3. All decisions of the committee shall be achieved by consensus. 4. Training and committee meetings held outside of the contractual work day shall be paid the instructional rate (p.10) in the contract. 5. The committee shall be authorized to utilize a consultant(s) (e.g., educational consultants, software consultants, credentialing trainers, etc.) as it deems appropriate. The cost, if any, shall be borne by the Board of Education.
