Guild Leave. If an employee is elected or appointed to any CWA/SCA Canada, TNG-CWA or CLC office or affiliate thereof, such employee on his/her own request in writing shall be given leave of absence without pay and shall be reinstated in the same position or a comparable one upon the expiration of such leave. The foregoing shall apply also to delegates to TNG-CWA, AFL-CIO and CLC conventions, local, national and international, and to delegates to special meetings called by CWA/SCA Canada, TNG-CWA. 16.2.4.1 Except in an emergency, two weeks’ notice shall be given to the Company of all local executive and membership meetings, meetings of CWA/SCA Canada and TNG-CWA, AFL-CIO and CLC Conventions and to any other meetings. Emergency is defined as a situation which could not have been anticipated in advance by a person exercising reasonable diligence. The Company agrees to remunerate all employees on leave for local Guild business their regular weekly pay and benefits without penalty, provided two weeks’ notice has been given to the Company. The Guild shall reimburse the Company for the gross amount paid to the employee and on behalf of the employee for all such leave immediately on receipt of notice from the Company. 16.2.4.2 Leaves granted under Article 16.2.4 shall not be granted to more than five employees at any one time and any leave to delegates shall be limited to not more than ten (10) days’ duration. The parties may agree to an enlargement of these limits.

Requests for a leave of absence for more than one (1) employee under this Article must be approved by the Employer. 15.3.2 A leave of absence without pay shall be granted upon request to an employee elected or appointed a delegate to conventions of The Newspaper Guild/CWA, CLC, OFL, IFJ or Local 00000 xx XXX/XXX Xxxxxx and to delegates to special meetings called by CWA/SCA Canada. Requests for a leave of absence for more than one (1) employee must be approved by the Employer. CTV Ottawa/ONG 15.3.3 Upon request by the Guild, the Employer will release without loss of pay or other benefits three (3) employees named by the Guild for negotiation meetings. For the purpose of preparation for collective bargaining between the Guild and CTV Ottawa, leave without pay shall be granted to a maximum of three (3) employees named by the Guild. 15.3.4 Except in an emergency, two weeks’ notice shall be given to management of all Local Executive meetings. The Unit Chairperson or their designate shall be given the day off without loss of pay. The Guild agrees to reimburse the Employer for this day.

Such leave shall be limited to one employee at any given time, up to a maximum of one year in length, unless by mutual agreement between the Company and the union. Guild leave for the same employee shall be limited to a maximum of one every five (5) years.

Guild Leave. In the event an employee is elected or appointed to any office of the international or local Guild or any Communications Workers of America office, such employee shall be given a leave of absence, without pay, should the employee request such a leave. The employer is not obligated to grant such leave to more than two (2) employees at the same time. Employees applying for such leaves will, except in emergencies or bargaining negotiations with the Employer, give the Employer at least four (4) weeks’ advance notice of such intention, and shall specify the expected duration of such leaves. Any change in the expected duration shall be called to the attention of the Employer as soon as possible, and no later than sixty (60) days before the original end date. Employees on Guild Leave for a period of more than one (1) year shall provide the Employer with notice of his or her intent to return at least ninety (90) days before the end of the leave. Guild Leaves cannot extend beyond three (3) years unless mutually agreed to by the Employer and the Guild.
Guild Leave. On reasonable notice and subject to requirements of the operation, employees elected or appointed to the Guild negotiating committee shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for attending negotiating sessions and meetings to prepare for bargaining. Leaves of absence without pay, upon written request and on reasonable notice, shall be granted to employees elected or appointed delegates to conventions of the Newsmedia Guild or any organization with which The Newsmedia Guild is affiliated and to delegates to special meetings or training sessions called by The Newsmedia Guild or any organization to which it is affiliated, provided that no more than one (1) such leave need be granted at any one time and leave to any such delegates shall not exceed seven (7) working days within any seven (7) consecutive day period. If an employee is elected or appointed to a position in the Union, or a local of the Union, such employee, upon the employee’s request, shall be given a leave of absence without pay and shall be reinstated in the same or comparable position on the expiration of such leave. This leave will be granted to not more than one employee at a time, and for not longer than one calendar year, which may be extended on mutual consent.
Guild Leave. (a) In the event the Employee is elected or appointed to any Newspaper Guild or CWA office or any successor international Union, or in the event the Employee is elected to represent the Guild, such Employee shall be given a leave of absence up to one (1) year, without pay, should the Employee request such a leave. The Employer need not grant concurrent Guild leave, in excess of fourteen (14) consecutive days, to more than two (2) Employees company-wide at any one time or to an Employee in the Washington or New York offices if another Employee from either office is on fellowship, sabbatical or Guild leave. Employees applying for such leaves will, except in emergencies, give the Employer at least two weeks’ advance notice of such intention, and shall specify the expected duration of such leaves. Any change in the expected duration shall be called to the attention of the Employer in writing as soon as possible. (b) If an Employee is elected to represent the Guild or any organization with which The Newspaper Guild is affiliated as a convention delegate in connection with the business of his/her union, the Employee shall be given a leave of absence without pay for up to one week annually, should the Employee request such a leave. The Employer need not grant concurrent leave to more than one (1) Employee at any one time. The Union will supply the Company with documentation for leaves under this section upon request. (c) Upon request, the Employer shall grant up to one (1) Employee, whom the Guild shall designate as Unit Chair, unpaid union leave in the amount of one day per month. Such leave may be accumulated only with the Employer’s agreement. (d) The Employer shall grant unpaid union leave to no fewer than two (2) Employees, and paid union leave to at least (1) Employee, for any day on which the parties to this Agreement meet for the purpose of negotiating successor collective bargaining agreements.
