High School Teaching Assignments a. It is recognized that three (3) course preparations per week for each high school teacher as part of his/her five (5) teaching assignments, is preferable. However, it is also recognized that flexibility of scheduling for students sometimes requires up to four (4) different course preparations per week. b. A teacher who accepts a sixth (6th) teaching class assignment shall be paid a stipend of 5% per semester of his/her annual salary and shall be relieved of his/her duty assignment. c. In keeping with the long established policy of the Committee and the administration, high school teachers will not be assigned, except temporarily and for good cause, to teach classes for which they are not licensed or which are outside the scope of their major or minor fields of study. d. Where practicable, department chairpersons will be assigned four (4) periods per week for the performance of their supervisory and administrative duties in lieu of other assigned duties and shall be relieved of one (1) teaching assignment. Further reduction of a department chairperson’s load is to be determined each year by the administration based on the department chairperson’s and instructional and budgetary considerations. e. The number of students assigned to teachers at the high school will normally not exceed an average of twenty-four (24) per class, with the exception of specific instances where large group instruction is the recognized norm. The size of classes insofar as practicable shall be predicated upon the methods and materials of instruction, the physical facilities and equipment available, and the recognized goal of a teacher-pupil ratio that makes for the most efficient and effective learning experience for students.

High School Teaching Assignments. The administration at the senior high school shall solicit and consider input from department chairs based on the preferences of department members regarding course offerings. Then, administration shall develop a draft master schedule and matrix of course offerings based upon enrollment and students’ course selections. Thereafter, if changes to the initial draft schedule are required to satisfy the needs of students, they shall be made with input from the department chair. In course selection, due consideration must be given to various certifications within a single department. Whenever practical, all teachers shall carry an equitable number of preparations. In no case may a teacher be denied a full teaching schedule due to a more senior teacher’s preference. The Department Chairs and teachers in grades 9-12 shall work out schedules and specific teaching assignments cooperatively at a meeting where all members of the department are present. At the conclusion of the meeting, each teacher shall indicate his agreement with said schedule and assignment by signing off on a copy of the schedule. Thereafter, the signed copy of the schedule shall be submitted to administration for review and input as necessary. If additional changes to the initial schedule are required to satisfy the needs of students, they shall be made with input from department chair(s).

All PAHS/Adult/Accelerated secondary teachers shall be assigned five (5) additional periods to supervise study halls or to perform such other duties within his/her job description assigned by the administrator. This provision shall not apply to substitution duties. At locations where secondary staff are assigned duty periods as part of their schedules, volunteers may be sought to provide tutoring or other designated professional obligation services, in lieu of the duty period, on an as-­‐needed basis. These volunteers shall not be compensated additionally. Any PAHS/Adult/Accelerated teacher assigned to teach more than 25 periods per week shall be compensated at the following rate/s for the duration of this contract. a. Teachers will be remunerated according to the EPTA rate on a pro-­‐rated scale divided by 5. 26 periods = 1/5, 27 periods = 2/5, 28 periods = 3/5, 29 periods = 4/5, 30 periods =5/5 (full rate). b. Teachers are assigned preparation periods based upon how many periods they teach per week. 26 periods = 4 preps, 27 periods= 3 preps, 28 periods= 2 preps, 29 periods= 1 prep c. A teacher who is asked and agrees to teach more than 30 periods per week shall receive a pro-­‐rated EPTA stipend for every period over 30 as defined in section E.1.(a ) (above) and shall not be assigned duty periods. d. Teachers whose schedules result in less than 25 periods per week will be assigned their additional period(s) according to their certification. This may result in a team-­‐ teaching situation.

  • Teaching Assignments No employee shall be assigned to teach in a grade level and/or subject area not within the scope of his/her teaching certificate, except where a position within his/her certification is unavailable or when mutually agreed to by the affected employee and principal, or when determined necessary by the principal. Employees assigned to positions outside the scope of their certificates shall be assigned as soon as possible to positions for which they hold certification.

  • TEACHING LOADS AND ASSIGNMENTS A. Should teacher absences necessitate using teachers on preparation periods as substitutes because no eligible substitutes are available, said teacher giving up his/her preparation period shall be paid at the rate listed is Schedule B for each prep period given up to substitute. Every effort will be made to share the assignments equally. When absences of fifty percent (50%) or more of the day occur, the Administration will call for an eligible substitute. B. Elementary/Middle School scheduled recess periods will be supervised by non- teachers. Elementary/Middle School teachers may use this as preparation time, as long as it is a scheduled release time. C. Any teacher may discuss his/her tentative assignment for the forthcoming year with their building administrator and may appeal the assignment to the Superintendent. Teachers who will be affected by a change in assignments or classroom will be notified of their tentative assignment by June 1. Teachers shall be informed of the final assignments and classrooms no later than August 1 unless an unforeseen or emergency situation arises. Should a situation arise, Administration shall notify the Association of the reasons. D. The staff will be surveyed prior to the end of each school year to determine teaching preference for the next school term. E Because the Board of Education has the statutory duty to educate all children within the boundaries of the school district and those participating in schools of choice, and because the student/teacher ratio is an important aspect of the educational program, and because the number of students the teacher is required to instruct has a direct bearing upon the amount of work required of the individual teacher, the parties agree the size of the individual classes shall be given careful consideration to balance them by the administration. Upon the request of the teacher or association, if educationally appropriate, or economically feasible all options not limited to: balancing class loads, hiring a paraprofessional, or not being able to do anything will be considered. Discussion on whether to do so will be done by the 4th Wednesday count day.

  • Shift Assignments When an opening occurs in a shift assignment in an appropriate work group at a location, preference shall be given to employees within the classification who possess the training, ability and any required special qualifications to perform the work required, on the basis of seniority. In the event that no employee desires a shift assignment, employees shall be selected in order of inverse seniority. This provision shall not apply to necessary training assignments. This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.

  • Employees on Long Term Supply Assignments Employees completing long term supply assignments may only access sick leave and short term disability leave in the fiscal year in which the allocation was provided. Any remaining allocation may be used in subsequent long term supply assignments, provided these occur within the same fiscal year. Employees employed in a Long Term Supply Assignment which is less than the ordinary period of employment for the position shall have their sick leave and short term disability allocations pro-rated accordingly. Where the length of the long term supply assignment is not known in advance, a projected length must be determined at the start of the assignment in order for the appropriate allocation of sick leave/short term disability leave to occur. If a change is made to the length of the assignment, an adjustment will be made to the allocation and applied retroactively.

  • Subcontracting; Assignment The Contractor may not subcontract any portion of the services provided under this Contract without obtaining the prior written approval of the Procurement Officer, nor may the Contractor assign this Contract or any of its rights or obligations hereunder, without the prior written approval of the Procurement Officer provided, however, that a contractor may assign monies receivable under a contract after due notice to the State. Any subcontracts shall include such language as may be required in various clauses contained within this Contract, exhibits, and attachments. The Contract shall not be assigned until all approvals, documents, and affidavits are completed and properly registered. The State shall not be responsible for fulfillment of the Contractor’s obligations to its subcontractors.

  • Overtime Assignments 1. In classifications where employees are eligible for overtime pay, overtime work shall be offered to employees within the work location involved from the appropriate work group in continuing rotation on the basis of seniority. Each employee shall be selected in turn according to his/her place on the seniority list by rotation provided, however, the employee whose turn it is to work possesses the qualifications, training and ability to perform the specific work required. 2. An employee requesting to be skipped when it becomes his/her turn to work overtime shall not be rescheduled for overtime work until his/her name is reached again in orderly sequence and an appropriate notation shall be made on the overtime roster. 3. In the event no employee accepts required overtime work, the State shall assign employees within the work location involved from the appropriate work group to perform the overtime work by continuing rotation in inverse order of seniority. Employees who are unavailable, including employees who are on vacation, sick leave or other approved leaves of absence, and employees for whom the requirement of overtime work would cause undue hardship, shall be excused from a required overtime assignment. Employees so excused shall not lose their eligibility for overtime work within the then current rotation. 4. Work in progress, when appropriate, shall be completed by the employee performing the work at the time the determination is made that overtime is required except that an employee for whom the requirement of overtime work would cause undue hardship shall be excused from the overtime assignment.

  • TEACHER ASSIGNMENT A. No later than thirty (30) days prior to the end of the school year, all teachers shall be given an opportunity to voluntarily fill out preference sheets indicating their preferences, in order of priority, of grade level and type of program on that grade level, with the understanding that where reasonably possible such preferences will be honored. B. Not later than the last work day for teachers in June all teachers shall be given written notice of their assignments for the forthcoming year. Teachers shall be given an opportunity to discuss their assignments with their Principals. If the Principal proposes changes to the assignment which may include transfer to another school, all teachers affected shall be notified promptly. Changes in teachers’ assignments later than the fifteenth day of August preceding the commencement of the school year shall be made only in an emergency situation. An emergency situation shall be defined as provided for in Article I, Section 1.5. C. No change in assignment during the school year shall be made without ten (10) school days notice and discussion prior to the change. D. Any assignment in addition to or in lieu of the normal teaching schedule, during the regular school year, shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher. Such assignments will be given to teachers regularly employed in the school system on a rotating basis.

  • Agreement Exceptions/Deviations Explanation If the proposing Vendor desires to deviate form the Vendor Agreement language, all such deviations must be listed on this attribute, with complete and detailed conditions and information included. TIPS will consider any deviations in its proposal award decisions, and TIPS reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal based upon any deviations indicated below. In the absence of any deviation entry on this attribute, the proposer assures TIPS of their full compliance with the Vendor Agreement.

  • Inventions Assignment During the Employment Period, the Executive shall promptly disclose, grant and assign to the Company for its and its Affiliates’ sole use and benefit any and all inventions, improvements, technical information and suggestions reasonably relating to the business of the Company and its Affiliates (collectively, the “Inventions”) that the Executive may develop or acquire during the Employment Period (whether or not during usual working hours), together with all patent applications, letters patent, copyrights and reissues thereof that may at any time be granted for or with respect to the Inventions. In connection with the previous sentence, the Executive shall, at the expense of the Company, including a reasonable payment based on the Executive’s last per diem earnings with the Company for the time involved if (a) the Executive is not then in the Company’s employ, or (b) if the Executive is not then receiving severance payments pursuant to Section 8(b) above, or (c) if the Executive has not otherwise received one or more severance payments with respect to such period (whether on a lump sum, pre-paid, or accelerated basis or otherwise), (i) promptly execute and deliver such applications, assignments, descriptions and other instruments as may be necessary or proper in the opinion of the Company to vest title to the Inventions and any patent applications, patents, copyrights, reissues or other proprietary rights related thereto in the Company and to enable it to obtain and maintain the entire right and title thereto throughout the world, and (ii) render such reasonable assistance to the Company as may be required in the prosecution of applications for said patents, copyrights, reissues or other proprietary rights, in the prosecution or defense of interferences or infringements that may be declared involving any said applications, patents, copyrights or other proprietary rights and in any litigation in which the Company may be involved relating to the Inventions. The covenant contained in this Section 11 shall survive the termination or expiration of the Employment Period and any termination of this Agreement.
